Excuses Chases Opportunity Away

Chris "Fantastic" Powell

What happens when we cling to our excuses? Opportunity doesn't wait; it moves on to find someone hungry enough, bold enough, and willing enough to take action despite imperfect circumstances. That's the painful tension most people live in—desperately wanting success while actively feeding the habit that drives it away.

Speaker 1:

Life is waiting for you each day and you have to prepare for each challenge along the way towards success. It's not simple, but it can be done. Welcome to my Common Sense Motivation Episodes. I'm Chris Fantastic Powell.

Speaker 1:

Excuses chase opportunity away. Excuses are comfortable. They're easy to pick up and carry because they take the weight of responsibility. They're easy to pick up and carry because they take the weight of responsibility. You know how it sounds. I'll start tomorrow. I don't have the money right now. No one ever showed me how I'm too tired. I'll wait until I feel ready.

Speaker 1:

We dress excuses up like they're logical, like they're valid reasons, but strip them down and they're nothing but fear in disguise Fear of failure, fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of hard work, fear of stepping into the unknown. And while we sit there entertaining those excuses, opportunity is moving. It's not standing still, it's not waiting for you to get ready, it's not pausing until your life feels convenient. Opportunity is alive, moving past your street, knocking on someone else's door, someone who's not making excuses but taking action. But here's the truth. Excuses don't just delay your progress, they actively chase opportunity away. Every time you explain why you can't, opportunity hears it as don't bother with me it goes looking for someone hungry, someone willing and someone bold enough to try. That's the tension most people live in holding on to excuses while wondering why life never changes. They want opportunity, but they guard their excuses like treasures. They want success, but they feed the very habit that drives success away. But here's the good news you can break that cycle the moment you decide to. Transformation begins not when you talk about what's wrong, but when you take one small action in the right direction.

Speaker 1:

Opportunity doesn't require perfection. It requires motion. It requires you to show up. Think about it.

Speaker 1:

Some of the greatest breakthroughs in life didn't come from the most talented person, the smartest or the most prepared. They came to the one who refused to hide behind excuses. The one who said I don't know it all, but I'm willing to start said I don't know it all, but I'm willing to start. I don't have everything, but I'll use what I do have.

Speaker 1:

Excuses will always wait for you. They've always been here if you want them, but so will opportunity. The difference is opportunity won't wait forever. It's like a train pulling into the station you either get on it or you watch it pull away. So let me ask you how many trains have you already let pass by? How many times have you watched others take the seat that could have been yours? How many moments have you given away because you held your excuse tighter than your dream? Here's the resolution Stop letting excuses run your dream. Here's the resolution Stop letting excuses run your life. Stop letting them chase opportunity away. Stand up, take a step, even if it's shaky, even if it's small, because action attracts opportunity like nothing else. And at the end of the day, you're left with the choice Do you want the comfort of excuses or the reward of an opportunity? You can't have both. Choose opportunity every single time. Make it happen.
