The Fleabag Situation: A Fleabag Fan Podcast
"Season 2, Episode 5"
The Hot Misogynist is really good at it, but Fleabag is really bad at pretending her heart (and body) aren't focused solely on reconnecting with the Priest. Claire loses her hair but gains a Klare, Bank Manager makes off with the pinny, and this time Fleabag gives Martin an emotional punch in the gut to follow up her physical punch to the face. Chrissie and Allie are perfectly balanced as they leave no stone unturned and no trench coat unopened.

be there to cupcake. Hey, Aly. Hello, Prison, where it's lucky. 13. It's our 13th episode of it into jinxes Are that spooky? But here's the thing. It's also our horniest episode. Oh, I know way All know, I posted that gift today, saying that we're recording of the trench coat thing, and, um, if everybody was like a green resided, that moment is I said, we're going to spend 10 minutes on that moment alone on the belt thing, holding apart pulling the belt up? Uh, yeah. So, by the way, I'm Kristie More. Um, Allie, Let go. Torrente. And this is porn Touch. This episode really is by day. And I was like, this is just turning into straight up porn, but in reality, this is the fleabag situation. This is the exploration. Yeah. Uh, all right. So we are going to dive into our notes for the week because, like we said, there is a lot to talk about on the episode itself. In case you could have figured out we're talking about episode five, which is the sexy episode. I mean, they're all sexy, Sexiest, I disagree. Well, it's like they have. They have the sex. It's actually the most sex complete episode because I actually think they're a little make out session. So six is again. I think it all gets progressively hotter. Um, this one's pretty good. Yeah. All right. We will get to that and a lot of detail ahead of ourselves later. But s O. Today. This is Wednesday, November 6. Yes, for the record books, because we are the podcast of record. The big thing that came out today was Phoebe is on the cover of Vogue for December. Looking like a God un Believe you said what I said she'll go the Venus de Milo because something with arms, somebody with a It was really bold of her to chop off her arm for that cover shoot. You know what it's for fashion. It's, you know, it's what you got to do when your reach a certain level of fame. I cut up your car. Yeah, yeah, everybody's done it, though the somebody had commented that her poses very like contorted. And they're like she's so glamorous. Why did they make her like, contort her body into this weird shape? But I thought it was meant to be kind of like like accentuates the dress And that's what it's all that I love. Have you seen this instagram account? Phoebe Waller Bridges Closet know. And what they do is they take the photo shoot's of her and people identify what those pieces are. And so they went there, and these were all like runway looks from this year. These are all from like 2020 collections and and so if you look it up, it's got, like, fun. It's really cool. Frankly, they look better on her than they did on the model. Well, I mean, because that's of course, I just love to that every time I start to feel like oh, maybe fleabag starting to wane a little bit or like flicking, populate like people popularity. You're just in terms of like being on the radar, sir. Yeah, and then, you know, and then all the sudden, it's like, No, she's on the cover of Vogue for December. No good. It's fine. We're good. She's got some staying power way also just got a late breaking alert that there was a clue on jeopardy tonight about flea bag. So So she's really made it. It was probably about the trench coat moment. Was probably Alex saying like this horny moment was I don't know what that would even be. Um, all right, So the other big thing next week Yeah, well, for the UK people next week is the Scriptures coming out? It comes out on November 12th OK, we helped with the TV scripts. Yes, with extra comments, right? Phoebe herself and she a couple. The stories came, I guess she tells the story about the Quaker meeting and Andrew Scott taking her there on about him changing the ending. So the best part of that Vogue interview was Andrew Scott's quote about Phoebe. And he said, People describe Phoebe is really cool, but I don't know. I feel that she's not cool. Cool suggests detached and indifferent, and I think she's actually the opposite of that. A boundless enthusiast for life. Lovett What, like I love that that high relate I love both of them, so it makes me so happy. Uh, anyway, so the Scriptures is coming out and what's exciting? We actually the Scepter books who's publishing in the UK, reached out to us and wanted to make sure we told all of you guys about They have the website up its fleabag, the scriptures dot co dot UK, and you can preorder even though this point you're almost there. Okay, congratulations. You asked, Martin would say, because it doesn't come out until the 26th here. Yeah, there. Wait for it. They you could actually go on in pre order. And when you pre order, you can access like an exclusive wallpaper for your phone, and then there's some cute when they're like, they're cool Yeah, they're good quote. And then from there you can also enter. Like if you can prove that you purchased it, you can enter to win this golden fox necklace. Yeah, it's pretty cool. Yes. And Alec's Monroe Golden Fox necklace? Yes. He's somebody again. That sounds like somebody. Or maybe she or Fox. We don't know where she Yeah. Yeah. So if the name Alex been rooming something to you or functions mean something, years winning. Get that? Yeah. Winning. You conserve your goingto win. Yeah. So, yes, that is next week for you guys in the UK We will get it like the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Which means I won't talk to my family were right. I didn't connect. What timing? Oh, I don't have time for that. I'll be at the Thanksgiving table. Be like guys. So get this in. Think. This is what Martin was supposed to say at Mrs Norway. The only person who had here that is my husband. Now. My dad also gets to hear Oh, God over turkey and mashed potatoes. So that is coming. And then Oh, gosh, There's so much to cover here this week. The other lucky u K thing. Yeah. Do you wanna talk about this? Yes. So on Sunday, December 8th, Phoebe is appearing with Deborah Frances White from the guilty feminist podcast, which is so good. And she was on. She's already been on it, I think. I think so. Because somebody had mentioned this was actually correction or something. Doesn't talk about Yeah, the scene at the Quaker meeting when she says, But I wouldn't be such a feminist if I had bigger tits, which I now agree is a very funny line. And I was reading way too into the motives, but that that she had used that line on the guilty feminist podcast. There you go. Yeah. Also, I don't think it's possible to read and do much to know because we have a podcast about doing that. Phoebe doesn't even know what she was thinking about this, right? Like No, that's I know, baby. Anyway, um, but so she will. Phoebe will be having conversation with Deborah Frances White for a conversation to mark the release of the scriptures. And it's gonna be out. Southbank centre tickets go on sale this Friday, November 8th. Um, maybe they'll be gone by the time we post this, we're going to try to get out Thursday. You guys UK time. That might be untrue. But if you're in London and you're able to go, please tell us. Send us lots of details because we would like a full report. Yeah, even to reach out to us. Because maybe we will just figure out a way to interview Yeah, about it. Sounds like he met. You can email us at the fleabag situation at gmail dot com. Yes, the other thing. If you are a fan of just pure love and joy on we know you are because you're fleabag fan. Have you watched that video of the recording of Olivia Colman with the speedy see Children in Need album? Yeah, just the joy through all of it, of like of Phoebe and Isabelle showing up at Abbey Road studio. I know they were like Is that the chair? The Beatles That is so unbelievable. And then they're playing like ukulele like it's just like you have made it well together. Do a little ukulele duo and a little woman sings off course. Olivia has a beautiful, lovely voice like how she obviously he was like she's the persons like Oh, no, no, no. I like it. Karaoke. It's like I couldn't I couldn't and then gets up in, like, belts out like I love you or something. Yeah, but yes. So they, uh, recorded the um called Got Covered album for BCC Children in need. Oh, Phoebe. BBC It says pcc there did I put it. I was sure some British thing I was blind Carbon Copy and sorry Judgment Mistake More sweaters for the baby's only Children in need And they covered the Portishead Song glory box. It's that they made a video about it. I recommend it just is like a lovely piece of sunshine And then, I guess, because they get the premise, the albums that actors air singing are covering songs on DSO. It's got like a ton of other people that count on the bottom. Carter and Jim Broadbent in Jodie Whittaker and David Tennant to Doc Doctors who doctors, Let's be proper Enter studio Ramesh Patel, who was in that yesterday, which I still need to see. Tae looks so good I know. Anyway, this other actor, Sean Dooley, who guesses on Broadchurch what watch but saying a Taylor Swift song. And so Olivia Colman, I guess, is B F F's with her boyfriend, Taylor Swift boyfriends, British what? And like texted it. Whatever. And so basically, Taylor Swift came in while he was recording and like, gave me a note. Also terrifying. Very. You want tailors have to wash your cover herself? Well, she came because it was because she hit the living. Coleman's like You could Be in the room with the little buttons and stuff like she didn't know any of the terms. And she's like, I was like, the control room, whatever. And B and she hit the button. And she was like, Because you do it more American like it's sounding very Yorkshire. Whatever you go Oh, my God. Cute. But like Taylor, well, let him do it. How? He was a joke. Uh, it was very sweet. And she was like, I'm a huge fan of broadchurch. And yeah, just maybe fans of everybody there so stars. They're just like a yeah, they record something. We record songs in front of Children and Taylor Swift all the time on the BCC. I have watched the reply all network. Um all right. Then his Dark Materials premiered on the BBC. I haven't started. Have you not called the BZ Seal? But, uh, I have not started it yet. We just got the reply like Cool! Another thing. I don't know I British. There's a real network called Reply I'll That's it with that. It doesn't sound wrong at this point. That's the name of like a B C's New Street, right? It's like it's kind of a cute name. He's described a reply. All I get it, they send you just turns to fly one blank. Are you moving on his dark materials? And it was on Sunday and BBC and is Monday on HBO in the U. S. The reason I bring it up is because in season to enter Scott is going to be on. Some people were watching it last night, thinking he was in this. Yes, because they filmed. They did him back two bags back. Yeah, yeah, so, um, he is not in the season. But if you want to be caught up when he does come in, you could start watching would only watch it for him. Clearly, there's no other reason to watch a piece of entertainment I herewith Lynn Warmer Thank Lin, Manuel Miranda and James McAvoy. Henry's Wilson looks great. I love I'm also worse. We're deep in the watchman right now, so they're so much, much TV fantasy, sci fi happening it is. And there's the show fully packed that it's and then get that one had seen it 50,000 times. And then somebody had this idea to do a podcast that required, like, notes and extends. And then the five longer. Longer. Uh, but But you did have a note that Rafe here and who's the hot Masada last what is also apparently in an episode of his dark materials. So because I was looking him up for something else and then saw him listed. So So we'll see you keep an eye out for him. So I know this is this is really unrelated, but I was googling some shit today, and I don't know Ray fearing came up, and there was a more recent photo of him, and he's got some nice like scruff like a little a little nice beard scrapped and he looks even more attractive. He's really he did it like that. Works doesn't really like shapes his face. There's a pretty good shape. Let's start a Ford speaking with him about this elite interview. Yes, but that is not scheduled. We're putting out that energy. Yeah, yeah. Manifest your dreams. Yeah, I had just put a couple notes of, like, other things that TV plugs of actors Brett Gellman has been talking about. He's in the current season of a show called Mr Mercedes, which I guess is a Stephen King book, which is on the audience network. Sorry, Brett. You mean never fly on three Ply all the audience now, which I think it's like an at and T Network or something. There's so many networks on, then Sean Clifford is gonna be in a new show with BZ Williams from Thrones, which this is, like two great tastes that taste great together, and it's called Two Weeks to live. It's gonna be on Sky One and now TV in the UK in 2020 and Sean plays her mom. It's a comedy parent, and I'm hoping it comes to the U. S. Yeah, I don't know. I'm gonna have to get we have the Internet. Yeah, exactly. Would have to get a box. We should just split a break. Rocks break rocks subscription A Brit broke. Or maybe we'll be like, Hey, Brit Brox, give us for subscriptions and we'll just keep talking about you and then they'll say, Well, we're not. Excuse me. You have a phone number? No, that's just my American accent. All right, then, the biggest news. Really? Yeah, that I'm most excited that you and I have a Sunday date to go see with three way date with three friends were going. Frank eight is coming with us to the Atlanta screening of the NT live recording of the play. Yeah, because we've had a weight. Oh, my UK people. Damn it. We've had to wait. You already live in London. You really live in England. And this, like, amazing Country night. Get all this stuff for now anyway. But we're very excited. We're planning our morning alcohol consumption, which is tricky, because in Atlanta and Jordan, Georgia, they're still blue laws. And so on sunday, you cannot get alcohol. You can't buy it at the store before 12. 30. And I think restaurants also know brunches. It's still 12 30 12 30. But the brunch bill passed. I know. So next. So I think coming up soon started 11. Yes, Kate has already. Kate asked for a J peg of our logo cause I think she's printing out some kind of ther miss cover that will make it look like we're drinking coffee. But it's actually booze inside. I'm pretty pumped. So that might be happening. We will report back. Yeah, and we're actually, so next week we're not. We're gonna talk about that with a new episode about the play. Yes. And the screening. And then we will be back the following week to talk about Episode six. So we are and just call. People have asked like, Are we done with Episode six? No, no. Is the short cut her a little longer because we still have the scriptures that we want to do an episode about. And maybe we'll just do an episode about everything. Every chapter in the yes. Page by page breakdown. Uh, my husband joked that we should do a second season where we analyze previous episodes of this podcast. This'll was great. Allie said this about your you're getting like, What did you mean by that? I think what you were saying was that anyway? No. And then the Golden Globes. We're gonna be early January, and they're gonna win all of them. So we're going, All of them. And then we honestly, like we had kind of been tossed around some other topics people have suggested other top. You want us to talk about something again? She was an email. Totally fleabag situation at gmail dot com. So we might not be Publishing is regularly, but we do want to continue. Yes. So you're welcome or I'm sorry. Exactly. Depend, you don't have to listen self, depending if one of our iTunes reviewers is listening. All right, so we also wanted to take a moment to go through some e mails and Facebook Post. Speaking of reaching out, speaking of reaching out yes, on our Facebook group if which you should join, it's just search, fleabag situation. It's super fun and interesting. We dissect the hell out of I mean it even more than we do here. We had a detailed threat about the trenchcoat moment. Yeah, on him pulling that belt up. Yeah. I mean, that was an afternoon of content, so if you're in for then so we Did you discuss the theory? The theory. You capitalized? Yes. The theory with a capital T. So we got a couple e mails and it turns out so there was somebody had posted to read it. This theory that the priest was actually waiting for flea bag to tell him that she wanted him to leave the church. They that she loved him and ask him to leave the church for her. But she never gave him that moment. And instead, when she said it's God, isn't it? He took that opportunity to basically say yes. Yeah, that he But he didn't. Why didn't want todo fella he thought is setting him up? Yeah, and that she wasn't into it because she never said, I love you. Please leave the church. So it turns out I was catching up on e mails. The woman who posted that to read it had actually sent it to us. First, we could have had the exclusive on this theory exclusive Astra, you know? And so we sat on it and I finally was reading it last night, and I thought she was just sending us. I saw this on red, uh, and then I then finally did the math and realized, Oh, this was she originally sent it to us. And then she she told me because I went to read it later and posted, and it kind of caught on. And I said it definitely did, because like, three other people sent us this theory, I think someone posted it to the official Facebook group. Like it really did kind of go nuts. So because it suggests that you know the opposite of what we think happened exactly, always so interesting in one of the beauties of the show. And we're all looking for a reason to watch it again. Yes. So now you need to watch the entire season again to watch it from that perspective. So we are. We'll talk about that more ink in the next. We have theories on the theory. Yes, And when we talk about episode six because I think it's really relevant to that cause she kind of goes into, like, his speech at the wedding and some of their interactions in Episode six. Yeah, So we're literally just telling you about something so that we can tell you we're not gonna talk about it for two. Yes, in the industry. Call it cheese. Yes. Uh, then what? Um Oh, this is so kind of some housekeeping stuff. So when we're talking about the road less traveled podcast and I were saying that Andrew Scott was on and that we weren't sure what Belle staff was there. The people producing it are sponsoring it. They are indeed a clothing company. And Anna e mailed us to tell us that in Sherlock the long coat that Benedict Cumberbatch, Where's Isabel staff? Oh, so And that she said there was actually some photo we're seeing. Where? Andrews wearing one, too. But they cut that scene or something. So I guess it's a well known brand over there and we are done and America then and we live in Atlanta. We don't need coats. That's true. We have no concept of what winter coat is. Don't need that, Frankly, especially me, because I grew up in Chicago. So, like it's finally dropped down and like, the fifties, and I could not be happier. I hate the summer here so much I'm basically sweaty from Memorial Day to Labor Day, but what I love is here when it gets down to, like, 45. My husband was like breaking out his winter coat. I think the big puffy jacket, puffy jacket and love. Right? And I'm like wearing just like a long sleeve T shirt. I feel great. Yeah, I appreciate this. Julia wrote to us about Winnie the Pooh and said she didn't grow up watching it reading it, either. Thank you, Julia, but that she and her husband started reading them together and that they went to see the original stuffed animals that that the real Christopher Robin had cute. And because he was a milliner. 1,000,000 son, right? And so they're at the New York Public Library. And she said, the real life pig is only three inches tall. Heart, heart pick. Heck, and then we did You need to tell you we got the inside scoop for everybody. So we had questioned the, uh, the role of full Bush man. Which is what Director Harry Brad Beer, Who he was credited as playing on I am to be in last Episode four with the funeral. The funeral? Yes. Even though he called Jeremy, right, He has a name, but, um, we heard from a couple people. And also the production designer Jonathan Polgreen, who we interviewed e mailed us about it, um, and told us that this was a reference from the play and the scene of her mother's wake. Because he this meant, you know, full Bush man comes up and tells them he likes a woman with a full Bush. And Phoebe wanted to keep that references, obviously. And, um, first Season two, even though he's called Jeremy and doesn't mention full Bush is now that I know things will deal with his mustache, even though I've read the play, it's been while I can't wait to see the screening to see the context for how it of awake, he's like, but we're literally just be like, Can you just, like, yell full bush in a crowded theater that allowed it was about to be? Yeah, well, we'll tell you. And then I also enjoyed Alexa on Facebook Group. Yes, she had an interesting question about the connections between fleabag and fairs Bueller. So here for it huge Ferris Bueller, FAM. And I think she's on to something that I do too well because what she mentioned that Phoebe had, like discussed sort of like breaking the fourth wall she watched, like a ton of stuff were characters do exactly and like first dealers like Number one, you know, one of the first things I remember. Yeah, and it's just so beloved. It's like in the cultural zeitgeist, anyway. Um, so yes, she even like And you had said ages ago that Jake looks like Alan Ruck, who plays Cameron. Totally. I think I need to pull up a side by side and posted. I think you are about it. Was that And then she said that, um, but look in the camera and then the reference to nine times because when when Principal Rooney calls Ferris's cornucopia, you parents says that he's been absent nine times. I know he does call his mom his mom, and she was like, nine times a night. And that is Thio. It's so yeah, it's a funny phrase because it kind of rhymes, but I want it to be real, I think, hitting that she did well. And then she also said that, um, it was just kind of funny coincidence that Matthew Broderick was her episode of SNL. Like, Who's that Dreams? Cool dreams do come true. Yeah. So I'm I'm here for it. Yes. And then I was I mentioned before I was joking. I was with a claim. That's why pencils have erasers moment about the, uh, the line about I wouldn't be such a feminist if I had bigger tits. That that's a joke she has used before. And, um and I maybe was overthinking it. And ah, it's just a funny moment. I'm Kristie. Also, you don't even need to have the moment. I think it's fine. All right. I think that's just what you, Percy, is my truth. That's your true well. And then, um, somebody. And I'm so sorry if I'm forgetting to credit, people are not able to cause I'm losing track. But somebody had also said that somebody had written our op ed or something. They were complaining about how the other man was portrayed standing up, saying, I think I'm gonna go home in November. Yeah, that that wasn't a fair portrayal of what a Quaker would actually say in that you're staying. But that's what they had. No, dude, I want to know what? Oh, so that line that one didn't care about the about she's bearing. She's not a Quaker when he's true, But when he said that, I was like, Oh, I wonder if, like him going home maybe hasn't gone home in years. Well, that's the whole story. And this is the hard, because he can't. He ended it with, Like, I think. I think I thought the same thing as intensive. I was like, I felt a little big thing for him. I totally agree. I felt like a bittersweet sadness for him. Like this man is very old. Hasn't seen his family. Yeah, so we're gonna just do a whole separate podcast about the old man back. And what do you think? All right. I think we got through everything. Yeah. Yeah. So let's just dive is talk about this, right? Porn Joe? Yeah. We'll take a quick break to, uh, gather the vapors. Uh, will be right. Let's analyze. Okay, We're back, but were quickly. We're still talking about Phoebe. Why wouldn't we talk about the Vogue article? Because one thing that really struck me is how she said what was key for her was getting over just her fear. And Jenny Robin said the labs, the influence Phoebe has had on her is to like, not be afraid to just say anything that she would always kind of filter herself or hold back. And Phoebe, Phoebe even said, like a soon Is there something where I'm feeling like it's just politically correct? I immediately want to break that up and, like, That's how you know, yeah, do something more risky, right? And be rebellious a little bit. And but the Jenny Robinson, where she's like to just like Leary to say anything and just let it go. And I was just telling Allie how this whole thing was like Phoebe on the cover of Vogue and just realizing like she just started as like, she just wrote something. So many people. We've all done this where you stop yourself from making something creative because you think like a son could be that good. And it's like you said in 2013 showed a Kickstarter, and if you had told her, then well, guess what? You gonna be on the cover of Vogue? Yeah, and you're gonna have, like, a $20 million a year deal with Amazon. She's very seriously. I'm sure she would've been like, Oh, let's talk. Yeah, really? Get the fuck out of my, uh, Tell me more about my S o. Yeah. So it's just in, like, you know, I'm sure a lot of people who listen or either aspiring writers or enjoy, you know, creative outlets And, um, which in this show has just been I don't know, for you I'd feel it has just inspired a creative yes spark and me like we make We were doing a podcast, but I just haven't really felt this like it's the spark for lack of a better term turned on by something in a long time, just like creatively And when the way incidental that were time with this episode. But yeah, I just That's something I admire about her. And I think that, you know, I'm sure she has heard this from fans that she's created more than just this show. She's really created this community and kind of just this positive energy that is dope. Phenomenal. All right, so let's talk about her because that's what does it say? Because I a few years ago I was gonna ply I did apply to, like, a writing program and you to write a spec script and part of a TV right TV. Yeah, and part of what they say is like, Oh, you should transcribe existing episodes or even order scripts from shows so that you can kind of see the structure and it is true like And so I I ordered, like a parks and rec nice crap and, you know, and then you transcribe because then you start to see like, Oh, this is the A line. This is the B line. This is the runner. And like you start to see the beats like, Oh, they're scenes are normally like two pages long or so, but you've system, you're sitting there and you're just like I'm not gonna write a park. So how could I do anything that's good? This is so stupid. And then you realize, like by the way, 20 people worked on that script and then an editor did something with it and like, it changed on set and like all that stuff. So I'm saying that because as I was watching this episode, it's such a good episode of top of It is just It flies for every city. Yeah, everyone's mind is perfect. Every moment every scene, but you couldn't cut a line from them. It's like a house of cards like you would fall apart because everything is holding something up. How's the cards? Makes it sound like it's fake, But you know what I mean. Yes, it's precarious. Jenga up? I think he's alleging that s a t word. Wow. So let's just go right in to this. I don't just grinning from ear to ear to talk about this episode. Yep. Um, so we start with the hot misogynist, She's out on a date with him. Oh, I gotta cue up the episode girl because we're actually just gonna listen to it yet. Kristie, nobody wants to hear you talk anymore like something's something's missing. Oh, the show. Alright, here we go.

I thought I wouldn't see you again unless you were in trouble. I o I mean, this kind of trouble. I think great. You say great. He's funny. He makes a turn around. And it was the go to one I love Shakespeare uses words. He says things like I got a big constable literally controlling. Don't. It is manageable. I'm going thio. Okay? Your family I have a sister need unpredictable. We're just gonna go for a shit. I'm ignoring that. Actually, you're not gonna have sex. That's bad. I'm really good at it. You will be really good at it. He won't be.

What was that, like, 45 seconds of genius? Every light of that. Perfect, uh, I could start at the Edward Better just started to begin again. Again. He does have a name. Names David Misogynist. So I took that like she's trying to forget about the priest, and it's just keeping herself busy back to some old pattern. Old patterns. Let's get some transactional sex. Yeah, I think she's just try. I feel it, too. It's like try to tell herself she's got options like I'm not just sitting around waiting for this guy like just They're fake laughter and the fact that she's looking at us like the entire time. Oh, yeah, well, she's like telling us the whole thing is a story. She's telling a story. It's a story, right? Because it's it's kind

of the

only part of the whole show that, like forced, it's not a natural colorization. She's like showing us glimpses of the shit that he does and like telling us about him well and right and like, And we I think like we're all in on even She's a nun like, isn't he great? Like we all know he's not just really building the building this up. And then all of his lines were just like blinds. He probably uses long. Like every woman he talks to you. Yeah, but it is like it's like he's checking off criteria, right? I'm smart. I'm like that. Yeah, I'm funny. I'm a feminist feminism. I have things to say about that in there. Yeah, it's just so like rat a tat. But Thea And then when she goes, Oh, I am in trouble. Like we know she's also kind of talking about her situation with the pre. Yes, Um, I just feel so I, uh and the way he gestures down his body over this kind of it is so gross. It's kind of refreshing to see somebody just that obsessive themselves. Un ambassador, unabashedly confidence so confident, which is kind of fun jumping like I'm just gonna go for a shit like that, Like the mayo on his face. Like he just puts all other He doesn't care because he knows he can't get away. Right? I was trying to look the deceive the setup, for if there is a set up for the punch line turned around, it was the golden one. Little good. Bad you had to hear the time here to hear the top. It is by the national job for that, Uh, well, I'm sure it's still not that funny, but he does love wordplay. And you know who uses wordplay? Who? Shakespeare. I love these comparing himself. Speaks for sure. Anything like I'm intellectual. I know Shakespeare. You know who I something Come with William Shakespeare. Perhaps you've heard of him. E I also love the scene because it's obviously just very, very funny. But I love the contrast we're getting with the priest, and it just reinforces how truly connected she feels with him compared to this guy who's like, traditionally very hot, solid 11 he waas he and he knows it. Yeah, but he's obviously not that deep. Bond is like super ready for sex, which used to be like her dream combo. Yeah, that used to be like her Go too thin. But it's not anymore. And so, like, I feel like this is a great example from a writing perspective of, like, show Don't tell. So, like continuing the saga of on a lesser show, it could have been like her talking like imagining a conversation with boo or like talking to us even and saying like, you know, I just really don't feel connected with him cause it's just really making me realize how much? Whatever. But instead we just see it. Yeah, and then you nothing. You just note It doesn't to be explicitly explained to you. Yes, that she is not really having a good time with this guy. She's just doing it. Take her mind off the priest. Yes. And then we also just get these funny moments and character development for the scene later at her part. That which makes that seem doubly funny because we now know the back story with this guy. Genius. Yeah. Uh, it's Jean de. I'm gonna say she's very talented, very talented, and frankly, he's got it when she goes these little bit controlling Don't eat that like he's got a lot of nerve because Hillary was like, you know, uh, covered in manning. Covered in mayonnaise, was basically ravishing. Ah, Mayo sandwich actually got there, so yeah, I don't know if you're gonna tell me what to do with food, which is like, but it's manageable, right? And like that, I'm going to I love that. I like that. She included the He's a feminist. I have a sister. I love that she put that in because, you know, because I've always I know that if you can tell, it really gets me. Because why, whenever, like, I hate when, especially like politicians, like, tweet out? Yes. Um what? During the minute later? Yeah, like I have a wife. And I are I have daughters, and it's like, I give a fuck if you are somehow related to women, which you are because, right, You know, that's what makes you care about this. Like, couldn't It may be just be that we're like more than half the population, and we move both women and men and anybody else have inherent value under human, like crazy. That's the crazy thing. Do you like, Do you have to be related to somebody and have it affect you directly to have empathy for them? I like Oh, God, that drives me nuts. I'm like, Oh, you've a sister. Okay. Okay. Cool. Can I have a sister? And I mean, there is something I think you said like to have empathy. You definitely understand the situation more when you become in it. But I know exactly what you mean. That like Like they're saying it like because I have a wife. I'm a feminist, and I'm like, you yourself. Look, worth Just say I'm a decent human, right? Who believes in the inherent value of my fellow humans? Yes. Crazy. Maybe wonder her line at the end when she goes, Uh, I don't think we talked about this, You and I, when she goes the hot massages who may not be a misogynist. Yeah. Is that like we is that just cause he's really good at it and she's like, I'm on board and yeah, why? Why He got that title to begin with. Yeah, that's a good, uh, I guess it was a low because he just was, like, blatantly asking for drinks in order to be her lawyer. Yeah, I don't know about that. I just like that. She kind of comes around like he might be. Okay, that's a bad nine orgasms because he's unpredictable. Like I could go for a ship that was orbiting toe. I'm ignoring. But then when he goes, actually, do you want to go have sex and she's like, That's better. But part of me is like butter photos, sex with a guy you just told me. He's like, Ready? Oh, seriously, little up and down like it's a little off putting. Not at all attractive. But I was like, I'm like, why don't you go take care of that? Take a couple showers and then we could talk about what's gonna happen next. At least you don't need to know that you're like you're, like on the verge, right? Oh, Jesus Christ. Sorry. It just was all putting go from, like, take a shit too. Hey, you want todo? I know every girl's dream. So that set up is such a perfect comedy. Bit of, you know, the flip that actually he has to admit that he is. Yeah. And then it's like that rule of threes. Yes. And that the director, the pacing back and forth. And you must be very difficult for rich parents. Yeah, I looked. I try to see if he's married. I didn't see a lot of Violet's daughter, Okay, so I thought it. As you know, I don't know what his status is romantically, but I would just want fresh water. If he's at a bar, he must get that all the tiling at a fuel. A really good like I'll take nine orgasms that she didn't want e fight it too Funny, like the quick gloves we see of him, I feel like, Is that like his elbows on her chest? He's like, Yeah, I wear your position. I know I thought that I was like It's like, Does it work? Yeah, right. And the trick. But her delivery of that Because she looks like annoyed. You admit that it's going really well. I love, too, is these bookends. You have this shot because it's the same exact shot with him and then later, with the priest and but the idea, too, that he's really good at it. But that doesn't matter. Her not meaningful are not meaningful. It all, and she like, doesn't care about hiding it from us, right? Yeah, And throughout this whole scene with him, even though he's really good at she's talking to us. Whereas by the time we get to the end, she's pushing us away. She wants to be in this moment. I wouldn't want to be All right now we're going to go next to them arriving at Dad's house. Them being she and Claire. Yes.

Hi. But you need 100. It is I can take. The sooner you perfectly balanced. Thank you. Big night. Last night is obvious. This someone's having fun. I get it. I got it. You're going to be sick. She better be quick today. A serious appointment, Mason. I can't miss it. It's very important. Unemployment. A serious one. Complicit. Okay, Junior, we need you to do anything cute. Mr. Find a way to stop this from Brenda's wedding.
spk_0: 38:51
So we would like to point out that she is limping. Fleabag walks up limping because director is so good at it. Big night, Big man. And what I just what a silly piece of physical. Yeah. So enjoyable. It's not that she's, like, hungover from alcohol. She's got, like, a second. Yeah, like it was too much. A lot Nine. You know, nine times. That's the only athlete status I love the study. Another contrast with her and clear Hershey's. And this kind of feels very season 12 or she's like dragging herself there. She's had this, like, wild night and like from a terrible, terrible like she looks like she just came straight like should even wash your face. I was surprised when when Claire goes big night and she's like, Is it obviously yes, yes, you looked scares like everyone. Looks like you're gonna vomit look really bad. Yeah, and I don't know. She, like, just didn't have it. Did you oversleep and was like, Oh, she was just too hungover to care. Maybe, but yeah, And then Clare's just like briskly walking with this giant bouquet of flowers. I agree. Like I wish we had asked Jonathan. Well, you definitely have him on again, but like whoever made us arrange because it's so comically perfect. Ridiculous, because it's huge. But it also has this movement. Yeah, like those floppy, those floppy like furry things on the side are so great, especially with how fast is walking there, just like bouncing with, and it's just it's so great. Yes, and I. It's also interesting because, like Claire is characteristically Claire, right, handling too many things on her own and refusing help. Like explicit yes and leave like it's caress tickly. Characteristically old fleabag right, you know, hung over and alone after a night of mistakes. And the godmother has obviously asked Claire to pick up these flowers. She hasn't asked. We'd like to do anything, cause she knows this is how she's going to show. Exactly exactly, yeah, and that, I mean, that was kind of heartbreaking. That line when she goes, I don't need you. And there's that pause. And then she kind of catches herself and she's like to do anything. And I think she caught realized how bad that sounded. But because the last time you've seen each other is her saying, we're not friends. Yep, well, yet that's so like that. That's what hit me. Is that flea bags vaguely offering to help with anything, right? And Claire's like, um, no,
spk_1: 41:18
I don't
spk_0: 41:18
need to do anything, because the last time we're together was that was the woman in Business Award, right? Claire asked for flea bags, help, and her worst expectations were met. New Bag took the attention. She charmed everybody. She messed up the vegetarian meals for Claire. She bonded with Belinda Wright. It she destroyed the award war. She made clear hand of a pair of tits to Belinda. So, like Claire's like, No, I am absolutely not asking you for help. And I just that that facade of I don't need any help. I've just got everything under control, even though we know her life is not that she won't even let her ring the doorbell. I know. That's like, um on girl, And then you had a good observation about even her language. I'm perfectly balanced. Yeah. Which physically, maybe. Yeah, temporarily. Yeah. Girl. Um, but then also, she better be quick today about the biggest. They're there for a portrait sitting, but the fact that I hadn't realized this you I I didn't point it. Honestly. Just noticed that one of them are only plays this week when she does have a serious appointment today. Can't miss it. I always assumed she had a work meeting. Yeah, and I had something to do with Claire. Yeah, and even after the reveal of the haircut, I still in my head. And so when she goes, I can't miss it. And then she's like, What kind of appointment? A serious one. Can't miss it. OK, like I realize it's the hair point. And then you pointed out she doesn't want to tell her because she doesn't want to tell her she's going to Anthony. You know what he did to me? Yeah, the fact that she's it's a serious one. Can't miss it, Okay, because she knows this is going to be the thing that makes everything better. And let's go change and change your life. Yeah, even Sean Clifford's delivery on that like a serious one. Okay, Can't miss it. OK, like it's so forced. Oh, yeah. I just knowing that that's what it is, except even And then also, when you say something like that, you have to be aware that by being so vague, you're just making it more obvious that, like you're hiding something exactly right now let's go to Dad, bringing them inside the house with a surprise guest.

Mr. Find a way to stop this horrendous wedding. Let me know. Just leave these things there for you like a quick cup of tea. Before way really lovely. Speak chocolatey things and a lovely friends is just wrong. Hello. Oh, I'm gonna be sick. All right. You look horrendous. I exist a big night. Hello? A. I only meant to be quicker, wasn't it? In the tip was expecting her family were being painted. Isn't that fun? So fun. I can come back later. No, no, no. So come on, Phyllis in. Probably better, actually, that we should all get the plan. Right. Well, I just wanted to probably actually to say, um I've been called away this weekend on dhe. I'm afraid I won't be able to officiate the ceremony tomorrow. Oh, Christ. Bye. My brother is Hill. So after currency and Oh, it was hell. Uh, Laurie existence, right? Oh, God. Is he all right? He's

state, to be honest, but, uh, I just got to us. You got to us. Uh, well. Oh, this is gonna be spectacular. He pull. Oh, of course. You must go. Really? Every of course. Family first. Always family. First you must go get straight to him to send me through the details of what you've worked out so far. I will sort something out. I put out the feelers for somebody else. Well, I think we might have to. Don't even think about it. This is much more important. You must go. Go. Okay. Well, thank you so much for your understanding. Sure, sure. All the best. See again. Sorry. Do it. Bye. Bye bye. What? I think you should Yes. Okay. My dad. Well, that solves our problem. Relieved for him? You all right? Yeah. Just make for the gap.
spk_0: 46:27
Oh, juicy. Oh, what stuff to talk about, Wade. Oh, well, I guess to start I love a chipper daddy. Let's get answers. The door, I guess me because the priest is there and he's like, we're all just a big happy family. Yes, I also I hadn't thought of that. I was just like, Well, he's getting married tomorrow. There's that. But I do think it's like because he says, like we have a lovely friend here. It's almost like when someone answers the door like a hostage situation Play. Hey, everything's good. High, right? Don't I seem normal? It's so good to see you. Everything's wonderful. No, he I think he's genuinely happy, but it's because the priest is there for sure when she just looks us I'm gonna be sick. Another great comedy. It's just the 3rd 1 yet, but when she I love that she considered constantly repeats phrases like that, it's just fun. It's just super enjoyable and fun. Yeah, because it gets you in on the joke because you've been following it with her. But now when you hear it, it's in recognition. Exactly. Yeah, and that she was trying not to be sick because the other thing and now, like maybe physically trying not to be sick And now, because the emotional factors and it's like, Oh, no, really? Yes, Down, down for the count and his hello When he says it reminds me of what he sees her at the church, I just realized to listening to it. They say hi to each other twice because then she will. I guess she looks at says, I'm gonna be signal Shoot says hello. He's like, Hey, so it's such a cute face so nervous, I know on Godmother has to, you know, set the tone with you. Look, Corrente, I know thanks so much, but it is like you were. You were saying it is perfect that their first re union right post make out with everyone writes who was already gonna be the worst. Yeah, right. It was gonna be super awkward anyway. And now we have to have this conversation subtly, subconsciously, subliminally is Yeah, I'm looking for in front of everyone. And I just realized the fact that they met in front of everyone of the day like this is a throwback. Like the last time they were all together. Yeah. Was the dinner right? You know, and even I think what you go, So just a big night. I feel like that's directed at him of, like, I was out do other than my fucking money. Somebody else wanted to have sex with me, right? Well, and the idea that they're having this first re union with everyone around, like, side from the awkwardness, like it just it's exponentially higher. But also, it creates this intimacy between the two of them because now they're having a moment and a conversation that is just between them and that the only the two of them know what they mean. Yes, and they're like, in on this little secret together. Yeah, and it's kind of someone had pulled that screen shot from Episode six after they reveal about the miscarriage and there's a quick Yeah. No, no, no. So six of acceptance. Yeah, and but someone just pulled a quick screen shot where the priest is looking right at flea bag because he knows the truth. And there is It's so hot because you're just like two of that again. It's like we know something nobody else does. We have secret, so, yeah, I love that intimacy is creating between the two of them, even though the conversations ostensibly with the whole family, right? Yeah, right. It's like they're speaking in code, right? What did you said this thing about l A paper? Oh, yeah. So my best friend, Allie Pape it add vulture. She used the word depleted. Yeah. Another article that I'll post Thio interest of Link. Yes, but she's the word depleted to describe both fleabag increased of. Dad does. And I very much agree, Especially because depleted emotionally for sure. Neither of them slept tonight. Exactly. Also, you have nine orgasms. You're gonna be depleted. You're gonna be depleted of electrolyte. Yeah, of you know, life force filled with lactic acid. That that's probably not right. And It's healthier, if that's accurate. Um, but I d'oh like they're just exhausted. And now they have to put on a show right in front of all these people and just how flustered he is. I know. I just I when he Because he was all I wasn't expecting a whole family to be here. So it was his plan to just, like, ghost her. Like, was he just gonna come over, tell the family, can't do it bailing on the wedding CIA, and then she just never sees him again. I think I think he probably couldn't do the wedding because that's like, you know, again, history about Holly and the women. Literally. Exactly, Exactly. And like, he'd be, like, staring at, you know, like standing down the aisle. But I know, but it's cute, huh? But I think, Yeah, it's like he came to the wedding. True. But I feel like I mean, she would find it like it's I don't think ghosting is a possibility with true. Yeah, but the eye could see that where he also like and then now, because he's what he was afraid of having to do with the wedding which is pretend nothing's wrong is happening right now. I know in front of everybody. So when he first says, Oh, I like how you said, Uh, we said how flustered he is, So you just should go He plays phrase. He plays flustered so well, you just want to, like, burrow into his little flustered body like I just wanted to give him a little hug. Yeah, but he's just His stance is so nervous. So when he says he can't officiate at the wedding Olivia Coleman's face I was like She should have won an Emmy for Best face created new category one year. It's not too late, I think, for the Golden Globes to just attack the song The best face. And it's just her reaction to him saying he can't do it because it's just brilliant and because she's like not moving no, like all the expression is just in her eyes. Yeah, and that's what the man in her lack of movement. But yet everyone's reaction Yes, like godmother is fear. You know, she's furious, but she's also like terror flat, terrifyingly placid, right? It's like her brain. It's like if she was a Terminator, you'd see like this for the screen. Be computing. And she's like trying to figure out, like next. Yeah, Dad, Like, confused. And he's wearing it. He's also wearing What's about cock? Right? And Claire's Just like what? Yeah, What is happening here? Fleabag is legitimately disappointed, which I think is cute, right, Because she knows exactly why. Yes, that has nothing to do with it. Well, and then she kind of grills him. Yeah, well, because I feel like she's I think she genuinely does feel sad for her dad. That may be the wedding won't happen, even though nobody really wants something to happen. I also do think it's funny that, like, uh, Claire was like, You can help me by stopping this wedding, and then she'd like, maybe a list, right and see, And I didn't catch on The first viewing prefers 10 viewings that the wedding was gonna be off. I guess in my head, I was like, Well, wait and see if he finds a replacement. Well, that it was the next day. Yeah, I guess. And I was being too optimistic that something would still work out. But I guess it was more that no, at least It's not happening tomorrow. At the very least, it's delayed, but yeah, all the different reactions. I think fleabag is also disappointed because it's like a no from him. Yes, it's basically you're dumping me in front of my whole face and she can't say anything about it because right there and can't light precedent. Look, look extra sad or right. Although she presses him the way she the only way she can, which is just be like you're fucking your brother sick. Tell me. I'll give me all the details. Tell me. I also thought that was funny. Kind of like her flipping the switch are turning the tables on him like I'm the interviewer. Now, I'm gonna ask you questions you do no want to answer and are not prepared. Tiu Thin is another example of the in this show where characters kind of make up lies. And then you don't think about it in depth. And so they have no answers when somebody pushes them a little bit. All right? Right. Because even like when she goes Oh, he's ill. And he's ill with getting into an accident like that doesn't doesn't quite make sense. Also for our American listeners. Oh, sorry. It's just it's a truck, right? But I so that I think about it. I like What's he ill with? Trust? Semi accident. What? He's always actually major head drama. I know well and also the fact that he picked his brother being ill because the brothers ahead of file, he's told all that he's a pedophile and I kind of person because I had a moment of Michael. So is he out? Is he free to like, How did you see a pedophile? But they haven't caught him doing it. Like, what's the status on his brother? I got a little too caught up in that I know, but it was almost like the fact that he chose that was almost like I should have picked the brother, just hadn't he, like, didn't think about it? Which is like, what? Think about it, right? And it has said he has no contact with the mightiest of like Russia, right? But then when he says, I just can't do it, I can't do it. It really is a beautiful like they do have the conversation amidst all the chaos, right? And with all the people that That's, like, so cool. There's looking right at each other and I Yes. So you're wondering what it can't do? What, like can't do the wedding? Can't do this relationship like and I felt so. I think he's telling himself he can't do it. Yeah, because he always had to keep reminding himself. Can't Can't think about this. You can't be challenged like this. Yes, I just need out. I just can't escape. Yeah. And which will hear again at the bus stop in the next scene? Yes, but the, uh you know, when he goes, you know, Is he all right? He's in a bit of a state, to be honest, which is not about him. Which kind of ties in with flee back single. I'm in. I am in trouble. Yeah, like they're both just, like, messed up because of the other. Versus yes. Also clears face everybody's 1st 0 no family. And like her eyes bug out place, I wonder, Does she, like, grab her extra hard? And also just the idea that, like we're all family, the two of them have just not accepted her His family know. And it's a throwback to godmother at her mom's funeral wing. I'll always be there, right? Always right. All wait And godmother has never been family. No, but it's literally just This is the This is what she thinks people should do. Like, Well, that's what you should do. You should be family first and that she wants to impress the priest of like because I wondered, Like, Why didn't she go off on him to his face? And I think it's because he's a priest and she wanted to show off like I'm such a kind, understanding person and she wants to collect him right? And I didn't want to lose him. People poking on Russian, right? What I kept thinking about in this scene, especially when she, like, holds back, Is that Seth Forget who said it in what interview? But Olivia Colman had once said that she at first wasn't quite like getting godmother when she started acting. And then Phoebe said, Just be the most charming person in the room and then it clicked. That's perfect. And that's like that is that once you realize that you're like Oh my God, yes, But then Phoebe gives her these lines that are so passive aggressive. No, but she's so that's a perfect note. No, I also I didn't think it was I mean, what? Hey, can't like she got her throat? Must have heard after that she liked it. So, um, gotta roll. Thank you. That's exactly so gutter. Well, I love the rhythm of it. It's like an S o s. Like what? A good it's like a little like a rat a tat at the end of it. It's genius. And what I think it's so cool. Is that you? It's such a amazing performance by Olivia Colman And we are We don't see any of it, right? You just hear Hear it? Yeah, and I like I need to pay. Right. I know. And it is another reminders like, Oh, you are like an artist or whatever. I wonder how many colors that painting more than 304th and three And maybe she'll orgasm on God Just that she's riled up. I know that a lot of emotions, whatever does it for you. I love your note here about what you said. Oh my God! Peak evil stepmother. Like who? Who's literally send them away in a castle? Yes, Like whips her cloak around. They're poor. Dad is like, I guess you should like. Yeah, we know where you don't need to tell us twice a fuck out here. Kristie hasn't are no. Now Dad has left with the giant flower bouquet of shame because it is so that I forgot to mention this. That to muse another case of Phoebe he's writing Tip about, have multiple things going on for a character, because that is a great, like a little bit of visual comic relief. But it's something else for her to be dealing with, like so and it's funny. That's conflict players holding it when they walk in. But then as soon as they get in, she hands it. And the dad was even, like, just leave that here. But then she carries it into the room and sees him. So now she's stuck having this kind of humiliating moment where where she's like it's so thrown by what's happened with him and our families here and then. He's also kind of dumping her, and now she's holding this ridiculous bouquet poppy flower in the middle of all of that, and then you as they're leaving the handed to the dad, who also has just kind of like his chipper mood has totally turned on its head. And now he's holding this massive bouquet of flowers that is now useless. I know, right? It's just showing them what? What's not gonna happen, Can you? You hear the glee in my voice talking about I have not been drinking yet. I saw, like, Martin, That's not like a real Martin. I haven't been drinking. I'm just not drunk just drinking coffee, all right? And then, um oh, so then when they walk out, I was throwing a little which also that solves that problem. I'm relieved for him. I had always just heard that solves that problem. Meaning I don't need to sit for the portrait painting. I can get on to my important, a serious appointment. But then, when she was relieved for him, I guess it's because yeah, she did find a way to, like, call off this. Yeah, like, released better debt. And because Claire knows what it's like to be married to somebody that you probably shouldn't be married to. Yes. And I'm you know, she's projecting shit out of that good point. I also didn't think it was interesting that Claire can tell that something's off with fleabag. Like the wind flew back. Says I'm fine. I'm just late for the cafe. Clears, like, so confused. Like we did your responsible business person. Move. Honestly, though, what are the hours and the like? What? This is clearly not, like eight. In the morning now that they're going in for this mortal sitting. No. Uh, yeah. Unclear. I guess Sometimes it's like you have to take that, Mr Science. See or advice and repeat to yourself. It's just a show. Suspend. You should really just relax. I'll be launching a mystery science theater podcast. Um, all right, so now we leave the house and we go to the bus stop for one of the first of two heartbreaking bus. Stop saying moments,

so no. Sorry. Sorry. Three seconds. You called his cancel a wedding? I don't want Sure you have the dress? No, no, no, no, I don't I don't want to know what I'm gonna say. Please don't come to the church. I mean, those with the greatest Conklin's.

So first of all basics, Jonathan told us this is not a real bus stop. Yes. This is a real location, obviously there on the street. But they rented the bus Stop going to the bus stop and Sorry. The graffiti doesn't mean anything that he that he knows of it was just on there. And they added more graffiti to its. That wouldn't be like a recognisable word that would distract you in the scene or dead. It didn't. Well, I think he was saying to that if that bus stop have been used in a previous production with a certain graffiti on it graffito if we're really being accurate, but know that we are which we hire nerd that somebody some eagle eye could watching the Wait a minute. That's the bus stop from whatever. That s o They changed it a little bit to differentiate it, But I did notice, though, if Moon were trying to search for meaning here over here. Farley, um, the store behind the bus stop. It's called glorious little religious Gloria. Yeah. I mean, that's probably just a total co winky dink. Hey, it works. I think he's so stealthy. The way he sits down next to her and like, scares the shit I know. Also Wait Can I just add that when we just now when we were playing it? So Chrissy always holds the phone up to the mike? Yeah, and I look away and she looks away and mouths the words of herself, and then I just I watch it. I don't know. It's just the pattern that we're doing. You were startled by him Well, because I couldn't see him coming. So, like she startled, he startled and you were startled. It's so quiet. It's very satisfying because it's a long and I love this long shot that Harry briber does. We receive them from a distance? Yeah, because you can see that approach. But then also, he cuts away or they editor. I guess Gary Dollar cuts back to it when he's going. I can't. I can't. I can't. And like, we kind of get these like, close ups within this far shot. That kind of sets up this perspective of them and almost feels like you're like eavesdropping. Yeah, conversation in this interaction. Because if you were across the street and you saw me with their head in their hands and someone who had had their head like you immediately want to know what's going on with these two and once priest and they're sitting like right, right, he sits. That's the thing that he's coming to tell her to stay away from me. Ladies, sit on her. Exactly. Don't touch cheeks like I want you to end of the day. Are touching cheeks. Yeah, or did not even sit, like, just be like, Hey, what's up? You know, But no, he knows. It's like when they it's the same setup is when they were at the church sitting on the bench. You're right. Yeah, but I said that distance to that long shot. I feel like you're eavesdropping, But also, like, these are just two people in this big world trying to figure it out. And I found each other. And in the grand scheme of things, they're small, but there their problems are big for them. Exactly. Yeah. No, I I think that you had a good logistical question here. Okay, He hears things. So she sits down, We she's probably been there for like what? 30 seconds a minute. Head and hands. He saunters in. He sauntered. He No, he knows she's gonna be at this bust up Yeah, First of all, does you know that what he did, he waited for her. Do you? Yeah. Did he follow her? How long was she there before he came? How long was he waiting for her to be there If he was waiting like he doesn't know how long she'll be. Because he thought that they were getting painted. What? He didn't know they were coming true. Even know they were gonna be through. But then, like they had hated Isn't that what it's like? Fun? So I know his voice goes so high, but, like, you know what? Yeah. Just Stickley. We will not move on until we get an answer. So, baby, last episode of the you know we're signing off until we get an answer by anyway. Now, so good question. We don't know what they're happening. Question for Phoebe Q F. P. Yeah, that should be a separate loose research. I did start. Oh, I love it on my phone. You know, I started to love it. So then, yeah, you can't just cancel a wedding. So the assumption is the wedding's off and or very likely said, delayed, delayed. Excuse me. Um, and because I don't have a choice. It's like of course you do. That may be part of the point, right? This whole thing is about the fact that he has to make one perfect exactly and the consequences of the choices you make. Yes, and this may be where he's relying on the church as that crutch when he said, like because when he said celibacy was a lot less complicated than a romantic relationship and this might be the kind of she complication about yeah of like, oh, I forgot how I don't like this part is not knowing what's happening. So I'm just gonna duck right back to the church. Thanks, because that's that's what's safe for me. Yes, agreed. Yeah, Or is he saying to that like his only option, like, since I don't have a choice, that the only way for me to resist this temptation is to just not be there. So I don't have a choice to say I could be there. I can't like, I just can't Yeah, because you're there that, I mean, that is the way that it works for my relationship with chips and chocolate. So So let's just not hair stand it. Yeah. I mean, I literally just went and got chocolate, cause you have it in your house because it's Halloween. Yes. You know, the other day, like Monday or something was National Candy Day, November 4th, and I saw someone online. Who's like that? Fuck you. Just National kids Candy Week. Look, we're not talking about candy again. There's
spk_1: 1:8:27
not
spk_0: 1:8:28
a national holidays lately. What's the best Halloween candy of racist peanut butter? Yes, that's the correct answer. All right. Down. Glad Once a major. Yeah. I think that if he does see her, he won't have a choice other than to break his vows. So by not seeing her. And I think it lines up with him saying like, we're gonna have sex, aren't we? When he's at her apartment, he It's like he knows what he wants to do. And the only way for it to not happen is to just not have the opportunity, right? Yeah. Be gone. Right. Tend them away. Get thee to a nunnery. Get also. Well, he's getting, um I love love. Lovely. One of my favorite moments of this whole show is when she goes. But you have the dress because, like you said, it's a nice call bag to their day together when they went shopping through dating and they have their montage. But he's so in his head, you know, he's totally fucked up about. It. Isn't stressing all morning and then it was not ideal is the opposite of Ideal to see her when he had to tell them that he was canceling and that fucked him up more for sure. He's probably walked to the bus stop with little speech in his head. Oh, for sure. A little speech And then, you know, he's been rehearsing stuff in his head of what to say, like right. And then she makes a joke, right and totally disarms him and brings him back out of the the stress cycle. And, like laughing, it was
spk_1: 1:9:56
a
spk_0: 1:9:56
surprise laughing right, because he kind of chuckles, and you even looks at her like, oh, man, because he was like phases to the left. Yes, so then it makes it even harder for him to tell her it's not gonna happen, like even harder than let me remind you why I'm great. Exactly, because it's like how, like delightful, Yes, Is it that she says that and then another reason. He's saying like, I can't I can't I can't because it's so easy for her to pull him back in. And he's telling it to him and even covers his eyes. Yeah, yeah, get out. It's almost like when we said he does these childlike things where it's like he's putting his fingers. Ears like la la la la, la I can't hear you like Yes, you're not here. Yes, I just need to block you out. Yes. And so when she goes, I just need to say and he cuts her and they're talking over each other. What was she going to say? Oh, my God. So, mate, the unanswered questions of this show, Yeah, the guys the interest in what? You don't know right along with what you did, but yeah, And then when he goes inside because I know what you're gonna say. No, I don't think you do know. Because I don't want to know, right? Because he has made this choice and he does not need new information to influence. He's already got this joke she just made Well, damn it, that's strike one, right? But yeah, It's like, Just don't even say anything that's gonna make me like you, Maur, right? Because I'm ready to walk away. Yes, I know. And then because when then when she stopped talking every time. And he's like she lets him She's like, Fine sailor shit. Oh, my God, yes, she doesn't look. She still looks pretty rough, but her face isn't like and she never looks at us now until the very end. But it's she's just looking so intently at him, like just it's not anger, and it's not. It's curiosity, curiosity and almost kind of like that Exhaustion of, like, just Tony something. Yes. Fine. Yeah, Like I got nothing. Watches told me, Right? Right. And then that look, he gives her with eyes or the timing and, like, they give him up solid a few seconds. Oh, yeah, that, like, that silence lingers because then you're like, Is he gonna kiss her? Because he looks at her lips like you can tell. Andi looks her up and down, and he's really taking her in. And you can Yeah, there is this moment where you're like, Oh, my God, he's gonna He's gonna know, Okay, like, right uh, but then it's really more like he's kind of almost taking like a final snapshot before he and he knows he's about to hurt her. Yes, and you know, if you read like the men are from Mars, women are from Quite is esoteric has been a brown, but, uh, but there's a lot in there about, like men the thing they hate. If they truly care about someone, the last thing they wanted was hurt them and that, like most people, well, it was a whole thing about that. That's why men will sometimes preemptively break up with a woman because he's not sure, and he doesn't want to feel like he's stringing her along and that he might hurt her later. So it's better just ended now, even though some avoid later pain. Yeah, and you know the problem with that? There was a woman reads it, you know, not from personal experience, but woman maybe who's just been broken up with will read it going. Oh, he broke up with me because he really loves May. He's afraid of his feeling. He's afraid of how much he loved, but he's engaged. He's That's how committed he is to really showing me how much he loves. You can tell yourself a lot of different stories anyway, but I did also when he looked through up and down. I got a flash, too. Later on in this episode, when the porn starts because she's wearing the same jacket on and when he like when he opens the jacket and he likes is not wearing anything and, like, just kind of looks like that is like the same face right then he leads up to that after this, like deadly silence, and he says, Please don't come to the church again, which at first I was like, Okay, it's that Sounds like he's putting this on her. Yeah, like, don't come tempt me again. Yeah, even though all this time you've been trying to get her to go to a church, I know I think I thought it. It's like an easier way to say this can't happen or like, I don't want us. Yeah, it's just such an easier. It's like a euphemism is just like don't do this one thing, you know what I mean? Right? But then I love Yeah, we could go because she hadn't even gone to the church to see him right? That wasn't to see him. That was for herself, which is what he'd been running the whole fucking time, right. And she did the one time when she came to visit him because he said, I want you to come true But the prayer But like that that second time she was not like I'm here to make out with you, right? Exactly. And now also what I think is interesting is like he's definitely not try to do what's best for her, because maybe praying are being involved in the smuggling would have been a good thing for her, and he's been trying to get her to do that. But now he's choosing himself over her well being. But you can still go to a church, just not true. But I think it's not a good or bad thing, like it's not that black and way. It's just like sometimes you have to choose what's best for you. Yeah, and she's not speaking. He's he's not asking her questions. He's just making statements. He does not want her input, even like her input will make only make things worse and harder for him to dio right what he needs. But he's gonna come over the best. Yeah, exactly. But truly when he says I mean that people so that a distant come and that pause because that happened. We just saw that with her and Claire, which because I don't need you to help with anything. Like, I think it's meaning one thing, and then the kind of attack on So you know, he does that in the dinner. There's something he says. Well, he does that at the with the toast because he goes, Here's to peace and she thinks that's the end of the toast was in those who get just love that I love and have a terror, because the first very first time I saw it, I remember thing, because when he goes, please don't come to the church again and I mean that, like I'm serious. Yes. Um, don't don't think I'm fucking around. Right. But then he finishes it with with the greatest of compliments, which I actually had to rewind a couple we could turn the captions on. It couldn't understand time. Yeah, but with the greatest of compliments. So he's saying I think there is a double meaning there. I think he's saying I am serious, but also I mean it. But I mean it because you're too, because you're too right. It's not because I'm rejecting you, right? It's that I like you because I like you so much. I have to break up with him. It's not. It's not used me exactly, but I actually I don't think that's kind of a beautiful moment. To be honest, I want to see in the Scriptures how that was written. If that pauses written in there or if he delivered it that way, yes, that's subtitled The Scriptures should just be how greater all these actors cause. We'll see how much of it that I That's when you really realize, like the talent of acting because you think, cause here we can repeat these lines in this, you know, intonation. But then you realized like they're just looking at a page, figuring out howto deliver this ride it, Yeah, no, it's amazing. It's a sadness is silent where he says it does, and I think it's both because he's about to lose something. But he also knows he's about to hurt her Yes. So that s o then hurt. And the way he gets up, it's almost like he's like, willed his body up like he's just like he has momentum. Just carry. Yes, because he keeps right hands in front of his his body like he doesn't push himself up hand. It's like he's kind of coming up from his pelvis, just kind of comes up with the core. Yeah, and it's just like forward motion. Get out here. This is telling, Unrelated. But there's this fun game emotional here. Fine, but know what I did a lot of theater growing up in a game. We're not like a real game, but we used to waiting game, No, but like we used to, kind of sometimes if you're like but, like even just if you're like out somewhere, you're like sitting at a restaurant or whatever, Um, and you you can like, watch people and then you can see where do they lead from when they walk. And what does that say about them? And it's fun to like, make up stories about people based on like she leaves from her boobs. He leaves from his chest like he leaves from the top of his head like I don't know. It just kind of people walk. People have, like, they lied when they walk from different. It's their bodies, like just kind of a silly, fun thing to do when you're bored. Well, there is something to that because I know like what? I did improv for a little bit, and you learned about, like, vulnerable positions versus, like, power positions and, like color, post power pose, but like caving in and like but yeah, even like leading this sounds gross. But like leading with, like, your breast, your general like something. This'll Ike sending a message, you're sending a message of, like, boldness and confidence. Confidence, right? Versus, like trying to hide holders, right? Yeah. And which, of course, every every improv person because you're nervous on stage. Like I'm gonna play someone who's really nervous to reach for what a great character I hold nervous. I will say that almost every role I've ever played. When I did a lot of theater, I was the dumb blonde because that works for me. That's go to really worked. Um, Then what I enjoy is that is just the timing of the music choreographed with her looking at the camera. It's just it makes it spark like you hide and love it. She barely turns her head. It's like her eyes go first like her eyes pull the rest of her head over and then just down into her hands again. Yeah, it's just so effective. Yeah. Yeah. And cause her look at us is a little like Do you believe this shit like this bad day Just got worse. Yes. Yeah, yes, I think she's very talented. Do you? All right. What's, uh so chatty Wednesday, Daddy? Wednesday there's another one where there are so few seen pieces and this thing just fucking flies. Okay, Before we go to the next one, the other thing I was going to say her and even just kind of seeing as I'm setting up the next clip, he gets up and she doesn't move at all. She keeps her exact position looking at where he waas until he goes away. And so there's something about that two of her, just like being frozen in time processing like yes, processing so much that she yeah, there's like, a click, and he just disappears from her field of vision. You're right. And then once he's gone, then she looks over at us. You're right. It's perfect. Right? Well, she's depleted. You're right. All right, So now let's go to Chatty Wednesday.
spk_1: 1:20:59
Suffocating its use. No, it's quiet Tuesday. Just stop chatting just for a second. Hi. You're okay. Uh, yeah. You okay? You don't like something about something doing so I was looking Julie. Why? I've been off for the new job. Oh, congratulations. But I just wanted to say goodbye and to give you this. Thanks. It's a guinea pig. It's a hamster. Thanks. And so it's my sister. She's a bit mental mind. I'm sure I wasn't gonna stay. Go. But where are you? You know, I have to close the cafe. But I could just tell you I mean the car to the place, if you like. Really? Well, I don't start till Monday. Wait, wait. Just like it. Okay. Could you give Hillary and, um Stephanie some cucumber to 30? Thanks. Just tell me where you are. What the hell happened?
spk_0: 1:22:40
They were mouthing everything with it. Yeah, it's important. Poor Joe. And that will get what is the story? He's telling her. Okay, so I actually I analyzed the shit out of it, okay? I watched this like four times. Yeah. I think in the past I never really focused on what he was saying. Just heard. Ha ha jin Chill is a funny word. Um, so it's still unclear. But what? I gathered here, she heard of sure, it's seven feet toll armchair. Just chill of suffocating. So I believe that would, Joe is saying is that he strongly advised someone to take out insurance on the chin Shilla be. But then the chin Sheila was suffocated by someone sitting down on it on a seven foot tall armchair because it was so small. It was a small tension. Yeah, So also, I wonder if that was, like, written or if Joe David Hargraves, who's an actor who plays Joe, just said random shit, who knows? I bet that was also just starting out when I can deal with it and I could do with it. We've all been there. I mean, she's blessing so miserable, especially when your brain I can speak to this firm like anxiety were like Your brain is already telling you're having a conversation with your brain already. And so, like someone coming up to talk to you. Is that interruption with this imaginary conversation with yourself? And she's already hung over, right? She feels that she's depleted. She's depleted. She's just been abandoned by the man she we know loves. Yes, like girls. Not She doesn't need to need to go tell her about until who died, right? Like literally six inches from her. Yeah, that's also it is. He's like, right up there. Um, I what I love. I know I have a feeling We must have talked about this, but I just love how chatty Wednesday's fits the theme of this show because, like, it's the obvious. Like, yes, we've talked about how it's like it's she's attracting lonely people, and they were talking how this is something season one flea bag would have never done. Yes, however, I was also thinking, and I was like, But you know, Chatty Wednesday is like the opposite of this, like widespread repression that she rebels against, because you can chat about, like, light things all the time. But then, if the same people are coming every Wednesday on dure, chatting about that light shit every Wednesday. You're actually just like, ultimately gonna like, develop a relationship, right and start talking about real stuff. And then I just like So enjoy that. Or it's an opportunity to meet someone that you never would have met, like you might goeth. It's kind of weird about Sartet live having, like eight shitty sketches. And then we'll have a great one. Yes, because it's kind of a Vegas. That's the premise of dating partly, but it's like you're not gonna meet you like you have to just open yourself to meeting people. You might have, like six really boring conversations. But the only way you're gonna meet that seventh person who's the right one yeah, is by being practice. Yeah, yeah, And then you do the 36 questions or whatever it is, you just fall in love. And then it's so easy, guys, they How come everybody science. It's really turnkey formula. But I also when I in this scene, I was like, Yeah, she's on Lee. One that works the cafe. Yeah, she's have any employees. She doing all the stuff like so impressive, and Adele is also not nice for flea bag in this moment, but it is nice to see the cafe so like, bustling and yes, that's fun. And her actually doing well, like doing or doing her job well and enjoying, except for telling off her customers. But yeah, Joe, come on. Well, and I mentioned this later when the bank manager has running and she comes back because that was exhausting. Yeah, and you're always like, Yeah, she actually works really working hard. I know. I also what I thought was when the cafe's open, I know which is, which is 11 45 to 20 anyway, I think it's very silly that she tries to be like It's quiet Tuesday when the sign says Today, Shadow your day and also like, Why didn't Why couldn't you? That's, I think, how like low brain energy, she has just not like Joe. I need like a second, right, right to lie. But he's so accepting when she does snap at him, I think he does. He does know her. Like you said, he's been there every week and then that he does this silent lip gesture the lab zip the lip, which is reminiscent of bank manager Seo. Hey, he really is her knight in shining blazer. I also perfect. Yeah. I also enjoy that on Amazon X ray, which is like, we've talked about it. But it's like when you hit pause on the show, it'll show you like a little details about the cast. Yeah, and my husband. Sorry. Interrupt. My husband is not a fan. Oh, yes. He said sometimes there are spoilers because they'll show you a cast member was not introducing. Come doubt Thio. You're right. So, anyhoo, Mark I But what I think is funny is that his photo on ems on, um, David Hargraves. Who's Joe? His photo on an X ray is just him doing the little just like this is who this man is. The role that he plays like he has no, like, head shot. It's like him zipping his lips. Love it anyway, So then the hair knight and shining blazer mentors, um, he has excellent timing. Oh, yeah, That's why we said he's a little like this menu of Really? Yeah. He kind of swoops in exactly the right time. Totally. But he does. He can when he immediately just goes. You okay? Yeah. He always he they have a connection. Yeah. Favor Relationship? Yeah. Um and I do think it was anyways, like I thought I was looking jolly. His face looks exactly the same museum. Yeah. No, e. And I love that The, uh he doesn't start his job until later, but yeah, and there's no like, It's like three words she's like with you. Like point. I just like like, like, why are you wearing a suit? Yeah, yeah, he's got this new job. He's coming saying goodbye. Goodbye. And like you said, he's got It's nice that he's got kind of this fresh start. We see the benefit of going through vulnerability and, you know, asking for forgiveness and forgiving yourself. So he's got this new job and his broader the detail that he brought her a hamster. It's a guinea pig. And then she looks, you know, but she's like, but she sees very earnest. Yeah, you're in her gratitude when she talks to him. And then when did you move stuff? She's like, Well, just he tried. It's actually, you know, people get these things mixed up in another case of where he doesn't know anything about boo either. So he also assumes She loves guinea pigs and can't get enough of them. And now want taken too. Yes. Yeah. What
spk_1: 1:29:37
a
spk_0: 1:29:37
funny thing for people to assume about you all that well. And then also. I mean, even if you know someone loves guinea pigs like pretty balls, You just bring someone a live animal. I that's just like a
spk_1: 1:29:45
little a little
spk_0: 1:29:45
presumptuous. Seriously, Very thoughtful. But like you have to take care of a creature. Now there's a lot of work, E I remember my mom stopper class because you have that, like as a kid. When I was in high school our freshman year of his teacher, Miss Hanley, who was actually a former nun and told us part of the reason she left because she liked to wear nice clothes. I'm sure she had other. Yeah, high school appropriate. She was a real character. I loved her. No, she is. She was, but she had a dog named professor scruff ins on. And it was Ah, it was one of the Yorkshire Terrier, No Scottish air. And, um yeah, Professor Scroggins and she came in one day crying because professor scruff ins had died and that she was convinced there are dogs in heaven because in the Bible they talk about vineyards in heaven. So she's like if plants and grapes can be in heaven than animals are definitely in heaven. So she's all I know. I will see Professor Stephens again. So of course, then our class being group of like 14 year olds were like,
spk_1: 1:30:46
Let's get Miss Hanley
spk_0: 1:30:47
and you dump on I mention it to my mom like we're gonna get her. Sounds like I know you're not. That's so you're not You can do That's not the right move. So I think we got our mug. So you know the same. Totally. Yeah. So we get there, Um, because of Stephanie Host. Also, I love that he named her. Yes, Stephanie, So good, even young and like they met. Yeah, it is. It's like a ridiculous gift because you don't buy someone a living creature, But it's also very thoughtful because, like they met because of the cafe, there's a thing like the reason they sort of I got to start over is because he made the comment that, like, it's a cafe for guinea pig, you know, I thought it was funny told you was funny. It's a significant thing. Yeah, So then Claire calls The way she goes, I have to take it cause my sisters a bit mental. I So here. So I love that because I know, I know. That's like a a British thing that they say We don't really say it so much, right? Until I'm about to start going Hammer way. Just say crazy. That's crazy. I also that was interesting is like we don't ever see her on her phone. And Claire's calling her right. You know, Clear never calls her. I'm sure it is like that's why she's like, Oh, fuck, I have to take Yes, I like, actually have Thio. So now Claire's call. This was one of those cases where, unlike the third or fourth viewing, I listened to just the phone. Yeah, and you actually went through and transcribed it, right? I did. So what I enjoyed is are you do you all of it to cut? You are not wrong. Okay, So what I enjoy is that Claire resists her help every like at the beginning of each phrase and then by the end of it is asking is like She's like some, you know. Do you sleep back? Says, do you need me to come? Clear goes No. Why did you get up? I fucked everything up. Can you come and then flee bags like Okay, I have to close the cafe. Just tell me what you are. And she's like, No, don't close, Lee. Yeah, you know, side note. One of the hardest things ever to do, though, is to ask for help when you know it's gonna be an inconvenience for somebody else. Especially clear specifically battered it as well. Be especially for Claire and flea Bag I Also when When classes like something's happened, something awful is happening back. Scared like you hurt if we don't usually see her honest face in that way, right? Like real fear one. Claire is not this emotional. Ever true. She I mean she This is, like complete 1 80 from her. Normal. Even when she's upset, she's never sobbing to where she can't breathe. No, she had a miscarriage. Is you write the haircuts. Different one. Of course. You immediately think Oh, my God. Like either she's broken up with Martin where she's done something to do with Claire. Or she told Jake something like something. Just immediately get something with the family that she goes. I fucked it all up like, Oh, God slept with Claire and Martin's leaving me and it's all a mess. Yeah, no, absolutely. I do so so beautiful humor. Here is Claire's, like in her own world of panic and crisis and can't imagine that fleabag is like interacting with anybody but her on the phone and like that, it could be part of a separate conversation at all. And so when she's like talking to the big one for talking, the bank manager's like, Can you give Hillary clear? Why would she bring a guinea pig to the park? What, like what? Especially if she doesn't know what the thing and that I love. That fleabag is like and big manager like Stephanie and she goes. And Stephanie so good. Oh, it's just it's on. She didn't have to do that for us. No, but she did. Well, those are the things again you hear on like that, right? Second or third valuing and it's a fever and you catch it. You're just like Oh my God, it's even better than I do exactly. I do love like bank manager to the rescue. Even though he tried to, he was, like, literally about to leave. It was like I'm on my way like, Oh, well, I was only gonna stay for a second. But then, yeah, gets wrote that. But it's also think we only see him in the context. The cafe this season also like you said, he says he was. He's exhausted at the end of it. Yeah, thing. Pretty big thing to offer to run a cafe. Well, he probably underestimated. He thought it was just like I'll just stand around while people didn't coddle up. Yeah, yeah. So it probably gave him a new appreciation for, like, alone. Yeah, you got that's true genius. And then that's such a good at it. So now this edit, because it's not only, uh, it's just that crescendo of volume two dead silence and the visual. So both visually and the sound, we just have a completely and we're like, Oh my God, she's bleeding on the sidewalk. We think she is. Something has gone horribly, horribly emergency level wrong And then the cut to cause and the Christian on the just stock smash cut to her lair, looking like pencils were just sitting and the look on her face and the immediate recognition of how bad this haircut is and how different it looks for her. Also, like you said, the joke that that is what she's panicked. That is a haircut. That's what made her call her sister and ask for help. Right? All right, So now we're going to go to the pencil. Yes.
spk_1: 1:36:17
Just tell me where you are. Tell the truth. It surrenders. It's horrendous. Modern. Don't lie. Look like a pencil. You you don't know. It's okay. Not okay. I'm gonna lose my job or lose your job. It's cools. No. Cool, edgy. It's unsalvageable. It's French. Really? Yes. You've been drinking. He gave me champagne before he ruined my life. That's how they get you. Did you go to Antony? Claire? I know what you remember what happened today. People lose the most. I'm awful, But is this what you asked? No, of course not. He's just a bastard. Like fuck it. What's going on? No, right. Oh, slow down.
spk_0: 1:37:32
I just heard to the ER when Anthony is telling the cut away when he's telling a story to flea bag. Yeah, and I thought I'd never see him again because he was soon to talk about a boyfriend. But then he goes just his little face. I saw his little face, and I would like to see me die with such a fucking whore, isn't it? Got, like his little face. So good. A lot of questions. Yeah, so this instant classic scene, so good. And now we have a new glossary for a bad haircut. It's modern. It's cool, It's edgy, It's chic. It's French. It's French there, I feel like on the official Facebook group. Like once every three weeks, someone finds that picture of the hamster that has a bad bowl cut. Oh my God, yes, okay, pencils, French. It's French. Or it's French. Or any time now you see that haircut? Yeah. Have you seen to the Olympic logo? Paris 2020 is the 2020 2024? Yeah, and it's like a short haircut. I mean, somebody made a spoof and put her go and put Claire's here 22 that it's Paris. So it's like Olympics 2024. It's French. It's really clever. It's really Yeah, I need to know a little more. Maybe from our English listeners when she that the thing that gets Claire to accept it is it's French. Yeah. Then she's like, Oh, like that Sounds like now she's okay with it, right? So what is that? Just because French people generally you're known for being very stylish. I
spk_1: 1:39:02
mean, I think
spk_0: 1:39:03
in general everybody's like your friend, like French is the capital of everything. I So I'm like a big, frank file, and I lived in Paris for a little bit, and I like the number one thing I learned from being in Paris is that all you have to do to be fashionable is just wear whatever the hell you want and look as weird as you fucking feeling. But then you walk around acting like it is all on purpose, and if they don't get it, then they're like them. They don't, you know, get it like, Oh, I am the coolest thing. Are you confident? You just don't stand like I pity you? It's like the hot misogynist. Yes. It's all exactly like mayo all over my face. It's what's hot. That's literally what I learned from being in Paris. I remember when I went to London the first time, like, 10 or 12 years ago and met a friend of mine who was doing like, a work abroad program. And she and I were somewhere. And I remember Anderson Vendor was like talking to us, and we hadn't even spoken. And then he goes, Where in America are you from? How did you know where American he goes? I know. Oh, my God. I think we owe our like sweat shirts and jeans. Not cool person. Jean. Yes, exactly. I don't think I was wearing like the white Reebok Americans, but I definitely he was also. And you're also both, like, £30 overweight. So you're American. They're they're behind us there. Not too far behind that, actually. Well, I thought James Cordon, do you see his thing when Bill Maher Omar had a whole big thing about Maybe fat shaming is a good thing because obesity is this, like health crisis, and it's not and there's well, I kind of because his point was, ever talks about health care and who's gonna like all the benefits people want to get for themselves, But they're not willing to do any work themselves to stay healthy, which is a fair point. But you can be overweight and healthy. You could be overweight, healthy and also you can acknowledge it may be healthier for certain people to not be overweight without fat, shaming them. So that's a whole complex issue. But so James Cordon at a big like rebuttal to it on his show because Bill Maher So when I see footage from other countries like other countries aren't fat the way we are, And James Gordon was like, I have an ample evidence that that's not true pointed to himself helpful. Yeah or something. And like I'm living proof of that is not true. So I we should post that cause his bottle was really good on. I just also love James Cordon so much. Um, no, you know, it actually has, like, a lot to do with your gut. Microbiota and I could go on the whole thing, but that is in my other podcast. Okay, um, I do enjoy that, Like the ultimate thing that gets like we're talking about that gets clear, kind of shut up and accept It is to say it's friends Yeah, she said. She Claire, it's French. Looks like it's I'm certain it's the right thing to say when we get more of that rat a tat taste kind of like with her in the hot massage in its wings like it's this is it, huh? And, yes, I love the Don't like everything she knows. Everything she's saying is bullshit. Well, she she's a master at saying everything except for you look good, right? Her reaction to the fact that she's reacted so dramatically, and I think every woman can relate to that feeling that Neil, a bad haircut is just gonna ruin everything because I'm gonna lose my job. I know that I was like, Okay, she she's her self worth is so tied to her hair and is convinced now that she's gonna lose her job and there's, I mean, there's lots of impact is it's like shows how much pressure she's under to prove herself as a woman in business. Like it's because Belinda, immediately upon greeting her, was like, always so tasteful, like she commented on her appearance like it's you know, even though somebody I forget who was. Somebody pointed out that they thought that wasn't necessarily a compliment. It was almost more like you don't take chances like you're always just so tasteful. Yeah. So maybe this would be like her kind of finally being like, I'm I mean, I love Look at me. I'm interested. But we know that Claire does this. She does this spandex, but no. And the things she does are a little bit trying to be more like flea bag because, like, even like the trainers and the short hair And, um yeah, s o This was like, the most dramatic version of that. Yes. Uh, do you want to talk about I look like a pencil? Sure. So, I mean, that been the line that immediately won everybody over was that I looked like a pencil on her delivery of it is so good because she's like you said She's like, she's so pathetic. She's like, low status because she's literally looking up at her, and it does look extra pencil Lee. And I think we're talking about those like Cappie. Racers have the angles, and and I guess this was a line that was written on the spot, which is amazing. Yeah, and I don't know what they had in their before if they just decided to throw it in. But it's also whether this was intentional or not, but they mentioned pencils and season one about. That's why they have rubbers on the ends of pencils. God, you're right. I'm sticking a pencil. Okay, hipsters ass and all that. So the fact that it came back to Tokyo fine. It's just such a brilliant line and then went after she goes, you know, it's French and she was really it was yes. And then her look to the camera and her face is so perfectly executed because it's subtle. It's so fast, but she has to do it before Claire looks up again. It's just this like and I thought I saw a little bit, almost of, like Lucille Ball, like a little more subtle her lip. Yeah, her lap. And just like everything just moves almost on its own. But it's not like slapstick. It's just very. It's a really reaction. It's like, literally you're like, Is this one gonna work? Yeah, Or even. I think Alexa had pointed to side with the Ferris Bueller thing. She thought that look was a little Ferris Bueller ish, too. Yeah, of, like, something with camera or something. Because I think there is a scene. You have to watch Ferris Bueller again. Now, when he's trying to comfort camera in the pool when he kind of looks to the camera like you're right? Yes. Have you been drinking? Oh, he gave me champagne. That's how they get you, Like hair stylists are out to make you look terrible, you know? And that this instantly clues, fleabag in that is you into Anthony? Exactly. I guess is anted cause it's spelled Anthony. Yeah, from the American, I think in the British. Can't announce it, Antony. Right. But, please, I correct. I call me. Yeah, Yeah, but why did you go? And this is so relatable to women, too, because everybody goes to hairstyles they're not happy with, but they are afraid to break up with. No, my husband does not understand this concept, but I'll be like, you develop a relationship. And I love the woman I go to now full disclosure. But she was listening. She's listening. But before that, I was like, I'm just really not connected. Like I don't really like what she did in Alan's like, Well, just stop going like, No, you don't understand. Well, and it's easier to know what you it's like, familiar. Like, at least you know how it's gonna I guess. And that could have trying someone new is that I'm like, I don't want to go to a different salon. So we'll just go to someone else? No, because then she'll see me. Yeah. No, you can't go to the same salon in a different person. Come on, man. Don't get it. Know that I love that connection of And this was such a sisterly thing, too. I feel like of like, did you go to him like, Yeah, l know about Anthony. Yes. And so now the fact that she wants to storm over there like she's just ready to be mad at a man until a man, right? Like she's some somebody has to. She has to tell somebody off today, right? Just to tell some man often What? I guess this scene was based on when Phoebe got her hair cut short, right? And I guess called Isabelle in tears right about it. I don't think it was like, just one shorter than she expected. or what? Too short. And of course, how ironic. But now it's like her trademark look, I know. And shorter. Shorter? Yeah. The other little subtle thing that fleabag does. Excuse me when she is telling her, which Is that what you asked for it? She like mimes or hands of this asymmetrical like And then she even kind of looks at the back of it like she's just studying this haircut a couple of minutes. By the next scene, I think Claire's pulling off this haircut. I think it's up and down for May. I think it grows on me. Oh, um, I also with champagne. I do. I thought that was another example of, like, how alcohol is sort of just like this dark thing from everybody. But, like also way. Just keep doing it now. She's gonna come, declares rescue. Yes, another way to, like, win back close. Like Claire called me 90 to prove to her that this was a good idea and also be a little bit fucking cathartic cause I'm mad. It men in the world. All right, so now we're gonna go confront Anthony.
spk_1: 1:48:01
No, Anthony, No. That is exactly what she asked for. No, it's not. We want compensation. I've got to important meetings and I look like a pencil. No, don't let me feel bad. Choices have isn't everything. Oh, what is everything? We wish it wasn't so. We actually think about something else occasionally, but it is. It's a difference between a good day on a bad day. We're meant to think that it's a symbol of power that is a symbol of fertility. Some people are exploited for it pays your fucking bills. Hair is everything, Anthony. Show her the reference. Claudia, do you want to change your life? Change your life? It's not gonna happen in here
spk_0: 1:49:10
kind of care. Juan is so great in this role because it's so small and it's such a great example of like there are no small rules. Yes, because he nails this and a 1,000,000 the way it's written, I love how she has built this up. She's ready to, like, pull the rug out from under us because she's built us up. That Anthony's this like monster who maliciously attacks women's hair, is just definitely drunken and gets him drunk and is a complete flake who just talks tell stories and doesn't even look at where he's cutting. So we're ready to just, like, fuck Anthony. Yeah, he is just a monster. And then we find out everything he says is actually and he gave her exactly what I asked for. But I mean to say to these two I love you said about She's here to help Claire. She comes in and says, We want compensation, not the way it's us fighting this to get your right. But yeah, these are the wrong to to say hair isn't everything. God, I know the speech is kind of It's funny and her saying like Hares, everything. But there's a really good point about this, like patriarchal expectations about women's hair. Oh, yeah, and I just saw, um, my friend Rebecca, who writes for Hollywood Reporter she had a tweet about a lot of movies. They're coming out now about what? I guess it's called like performative femininity and, like the limitations were basically like by playing the feminine role and lining up with the stereotype that you're supposed to only gets you so far that like it can like if you're wearing the right heels or you got a hair right? Or you've got the right body like you can open these doors for you. But then you reach a point where you know, if he has harmful or little and there aren't rules where those That character of a woman so much maybe What, You mean like you can't you get so far, But then you reach a point because it's not a realistic or you just you reach a point where you realize you're not being actually respected. You've just been kind of moved along for this superficial reason. Yeah, and you're actually suffered because of it. But it's not gonna pay off because you're not actually being respected. You're just You're fitting into a mold, right? And so, yeah, I mean, everyone has felt this to about language because it's the difference between a bad day and a good day. Yes. I mean, that's self explain. It's called a bad Harry Day for real. Yeah, I think that's a thing. And but when his whole thing about hair is and everything he's seen, women come in like Claire expecting a new haircut to totally change their life. New life, new you right? And I'm sure cosmetic surgeons see the same thing. And I think good cosmetic surgeons will even kind of put you through some kind of making sure you understand, right? This new nose is not going to save your marriage. Like you are not going to be a happier person, right? Because of this thing, right? And, you know, there might it might they remind the other elements of life that will be improved by it Or if you feel more confident or whatever, but it's not going to solve a lot of things. Yeah, it has come from inside first. Yeah, there was. Actually. When Adam Sandler hosted SNL last year, there was a sketch. They did where he was like a travel agent, but he was promoting, like, trips to Italy. But his His thing was like, If you're not happy here, you're not gonna be happy in Italy. And he's like, if you and your wife, you know, don't like being each other eaten whipped cream off each other at home, you're not gonna like it here. But just the idea that, like this trip, is not going. Yeah, it's not going to save your marriage. You have to change from the inside. It's like what we talked about before is like so what? You keep waiting for something to change before you can really start living your life, right? Like, oh, I'll lose those 10 towns and then I'll go do it like I know you just seem to just stuck in Libya life, then, Yeah, exactly what I thought was so funny about this. The hair is everything my lungs, cause here is a very public, very curly hair, and it had taken a lifetime to figure out. And I better have a fucking daughter because I have so much knowledge. But nobody knew what to do with me growing up. But I like I love it now, but and it's a major part of my identity, and I don't even I don't straighten it because it takes like, five hours, but also because then I feel like I've lost like a part of who I am, like, not the same person. But I also I
spk_1: 1:53:15
don't know
spk_0: 1:53:15
I when she was talking about it, I was like, Oh, is here everything like I was sort of surprised that I wasn't like, yes girl, right. I was kind of just like
spk_1: 1:53:26
how that
spk_0: 1:53:26
seemed a little performative. I don't know. I get it. I totally get it. But for some reason, it didn't like, I guess you know what I think it really is is that I thought that people with straight hair, their hair always just looked fine. Because with mine, there's just a lot of factors that can go wrong. Any you Oh, you don't know what you don't You know what I see and I'm sitting here, someone with the straightest hair ever. My mom used to call it like poker, straight hair. And it's also very fine. Like even when I got married, remember, telling the hair stylist was like, There's not a lot to work with. And she goes, I only see and then she like, Oh, yeah, because you can. I mean, you literally like you're touching my skull as soon as you touch my hair and or my scallop bushes. It's not that you're going straight to skulls have no, no, The guy wasn't gonna say you're like it's always been a little rear, just the bleeding, the constantly. I guess that would make sense because there would be skin. Um, it's getting late. This was also the time change week, so But I didn't see I look at your hair is like, Oh, my God. Full curly, bouncy, beautiful hair and mine. I haven't seen it in seventh grade. That's true. Looks like I gotta have a shower. I see My seventh grade is now We're gonna have a really term poster. Seven had a perm. I had a perm, and then at one point, I had a little perm splash mullet thing. Get it, girl. Yeah, we're gonna post some 73 pictures. I think that my people used to ask my mom when I was like a toddler. If she permed my hair is that's fucking weirdest thing you've ever heard. Like what? I don't like. Look at the grocery store. He was like, Oh, is it permitted? I think the question should Well, did you did you perm, your daughters your toddler's hair? It should be like, Are you a fit parent? Yeah. If you're did you spray chemical acid on your child's head? So weirdos pervs with words. They get, like, bomb sins over the reveal of the reference here And when there's another example workout of cure wants like his face when he holds it up is great because it's not overly smug, like, See, like it's just told slightly knowing and like, Honey, I'm I love you like you asked. This is exactly what you asked where, and it's Yeah, it could have been really over the top, but it wasn't I. Also, he is very funny on Twitter because, like when a lot of the Claire's were going around for Halloween, he somebody the first guy I think had posted it, he replied to when Sean Clifford posted it and said like, Oh, I could have done your cut for you or somebody like that, Like you, you could have looked at point whatever. And then the guys like, Oh my God, Anthony himself, like he could have booked an appointment and then cut it, replied, Just call Claudia, Get in the schedule. Such a great I love that body and bring me the been. So this was the photo to you? Noticed there's copy on, because this was something Jonathan said. They obviously made the head of that. They had to, like, work on and create a magazine rage, and it literally says Why don't you look like her? That's what it says on the on the magazine, like torn out so on the nose, like we know they already have, like a take on women's beauty ads ads in general. But you know that Claire read that in some dumb magazine and was like, My life is a disaster. I need to do something crazy. And what Don't I look like her? Yeah, like honestly, you know, it's just a funny woman that could go two ways because it's like either judgment. Like, Why don't you look like her right? And a suggestion. Why don't you look like her either way, look and look like you should. This is it. Well, and we all is another women thing I mean and men to mean We all see these media images of, like, I was just talking to you today about Oprah, telling us, like do Weight Watchers and eat a plant based meal a day that her chef is making for her like all these unrealistic expectations. And I actually at one point wanted to read, Maybe could still do this, taken o magazine and list out every single thing we're told to do, and it's like, you know, by the richest woman in the world by the richest men in the world on her staff. But, you know, it's like used this face cream, get eight hours, do this work on a clock maker. Terreri. Um, like they're literally was what it was like making Terreri, Um, have you ever do read Martha Stewart at all her at the front of her magazine? She has, like, a calendar, and it's like, Here's my month ahead and it'll be like, Thursday re shoe the horses Saturday prune the quinces. Uh, she's paying people to do that. But anyway, oh, yeah, you're just reading this like a my supposed be proving quinces and then also tell you I'm gonna run Thio, uh, Pike's nurse Robbie, right. I gotta get some quinces. I note a quinces. It's probably a fruit or something. I think you know, I think it's a little pasty. All right, so then when he goes, I think this is action. My favorite line of the series. If you want to change your life, change your life, you know how I know that about you, Chris, because I say it to you all the time and cause It's like your instagram bio and your Twitter bio. I should make it my bulletin board at work. You should yeah, it but it, mom. But it's true, and it's it's the theme of the show. It's the idea that you are completely empowered and just start and just do it. And just you, you have control of your life. But it's this the fear of making the wrong choice right? But then it's like, Well, guess what? Make the wrong choice. You change it again. Yes, you can just keep genes. You're closer to getting it right. Yes. Says you're knocking stuff out that doesn't work. And don't expect these external things by changing his external things. That's what's gonna make you happy. Exactly. You have. If you want something to change, you have to do it. Yes, I did. It occurred to me like I don't know, you know, 9000 watch, but her hair did not change your life. However it did, it kinda did Anthony, because the bad haircut presented her the opportunity to open up to flea bag and admit something central to her life and well being. and then Claire notice, you know, just like things changed. It's like, you know, well, she might have listened to Anthony's advice. Yeah, like walking out of there like, Okay, I did ask for this. And let's deal with the consequences of that. Yeah, And then, as they're now having flipped the script on us and then as they're leaving fleabag admitting, I'll see you next week I This whole time she sounded appointment with Anthony following. And then I did want to add my best friend, Allie. Allie Pape said in a vulture article. Um, it's a perfect showcase of how Phoebe Well, our bridges writing keeps viewers off kilter, refusing to let vulnerability be the arbiter of rightness for a character. If fleabag had a coat of arms, it would probably say, everyone is right in their own minds. Like because yeah, yeah, right. It goes back to what we have said about. You could watch this show from them and pretend every character is completely right. Like, watched the entire thing as if this person is pulling that one. Yeah, all right. Now we're back on the bench.
spk_1: 2:0:51
Got any cigarettes? It's not gonna happen in here. only cigarettes. No good. Thank you for being there was cathartic at the hospital. That's okay. Shame we didn't get to keep that. Dr. I'm sorry. You lost. I just relief. I didn't want my husband's baby. Isn't that awful? I haven't even asked you how you all. How are you? What's going on with you? Um, I met someone. What? Really? Yeah. Oh, that's raising. What does he do? He's a priest. Yeah. So, yeah. You want Jake E? No, I'm sure it's very complicated. Genius. My fucking era. I'm glad.
spk_0: 2:2:35
I think it's way that she asked for a cigarette. Have we ever seen her smoke? Now Any reference to it? I don't think so. And it's kind of shocking That clearly doesn't have I know topsy turvy. Well, I guess you ran there in such a hurry. Yes. She didn't have time to grab him because she's even holding in her hand and she's making out with breach. Last seen. Um, because I watched it cause it's like she couldn't really grab his face because she had her anyway, thrown on the ground grabbing face. It's worth it. Yeah, come on. No, um, and I like because when she was no good like. And it's a thing of like, I'm not tempted because it's not even here. Right now, we get finally get a normal conversation. It's like the the wall between them came down and the normal humans. This might be the first time since the silent retreat that they agree connected like this totally. And thanks for being there, which she obviously thinks is Anthony's, but means the hospital. And, uh, yeah, I mean, something's opened up in her like you said this, Maybe the haircut really did jolt her out of her, uh, her stupor going back to what you said. It's like that. You know, that the haircut was actually a symptom for what's really bothering her, which is that her life is not what she wants it to be. Any. And so now, Maybe hearing Anthony say, if you want to change your life, change your life so she's. And also sometimes after you've had a good cry like that, when you cried that deeply, you're suddenly just like, well, I can't cry anymore, so it will be really emotions have a cycle, and you have you allow yourself to feel them all the way through. Yeah, and then when you do, you know Yeah, you can move forward. I did think it was nice that obviously that clear things here for the support during the miscarriage and took a long enough, which I don't know how long this has been. I know to you. Yeah, you made a reference to three weeks that I don't think he was. Maybe it wasn't specific. He was saying something about the transformative power of people in your life. And even if you know someone for three weeks, eso I extrapolated that mean question for Phoebe. But also, how crazy repress must you be to not thank your sister for being with you at the hospital after you had a miscarriage, right? Like when they left the hospital, Was it just like by honestly, probably like, Oh, I wish like, Oh, thanks for making me do that, you know? And you know, when she says she was really using about the miscarriage, she didn't want her husband's baby like a wolf, which we knew we couldn't a whole new And that because she wasn't, like, mortified. I mean, I don't know, like you said she wasn't emotional the time, but she is not emotional person necessarily. Just hiding shit. Yeah. And I think hearing her say she was relieved. Yes, is a relief to us and to flee bag because of eggs. Reaction when she even found out they were trying for a baby was Holy shit, actually is really connected to this asshole. Yeah, like, Oh, you want that you want If you want to actively work on a serious future with right? Exactly. And what? I mean, they're having their first real conversation, and like, a year and what I think is interesting. This fleabag says, like, I'm sorry you lost it. And she seems genuine, which, you know, she didn't want Claire to have the baby, but she's sad that our sister lost this opportunity. Lost something so horrendous. Something such a traumatizing thing. Yeah, and I like that she doesn't try to fix things for her. Offered by she just puts her hand on hers and clear lets her. I know. And she didn't like being tied. Right? Um and it's also just nice to be, like, admit shit, Claire. Well, so honest. Don't you feel better? I know exactly a common Claire move when things have gotten awkward for her is to turn the attention back to flea bag. Yes, but this time it's actually positive. Yes, and like, I haven't even asked you how you are, which I
spk_1: 2:6:14
think it's
spk_0: 2:6:14
because, like, you just were together, right that morning, like a few hours ago. Oh, that's true. And that your two hours Well, maybe it's a little like making up for lost time that they haven't talked for Seoul. Yes. And they're like, like, how are you? Really? Yeah, I think they both acknowledged like, Oh, we're having a moment together now. Yeah, like Okay, because, I mean, they saw each other that morning, but they didn't really talk now. And that was the first time they'd had seen each other since the Women and Business awards, We assume? Yes. Um, yes. I mean, also, though Claire has to deflect because she can't have, like, a pity party, But she doesn't Can't be honest. Focus on her health. She feels better. Oh, judge her. She holds herself better. You know, she's genuinely interested in out she's doing. And I think fleabag senses that now it's may be safe to tell her about the priest and the idea of I met someone and like like you said, the fact that Claire's first question is, What does he do? Because that's what she values in people. It sets up the punch line, but it also it is her value like, Well, what does he do? He's a priest, and when Claire puts her head in her hand way, we actually had to pause it. And look, I think where we want it multiple times because it's such a perfect moment of, like, this intersection of recognition, because we all know flea bags history with men and her, uh, there's a variety is checkered and and we know Claire's history of judging flea bags history with men, and we recognize that dating a priest is just like a new level of insanity for Claire to practice process that fleabag is doing. And she's just come off. This positive reaction of Met someone like so happy in Claire is like maybe Fleet. Maybe she is finally getting it running. She's finally going to settle down, and she's found the right guy. And what does he do? He's a priest. He's completely unavailable and so cool it Never mind. It's exactly what I thought. She doesn't say anything or liquor. Just the head in the hand with the Curier is it says everything by saying nothing. You know everything that's going through ahead. But then she surprises you by having a positive reaction like you're joking. It's not like What the hell are you thinking? I know. It's like, Oh my God, Yeah, you And then which was You're my fucking hero. I think partly because it's like you made the wedding go away. You're my hero for doing that, but also like you to just do, sir. Just do whatever you want to. I also love you. Obviously can't. It's visual. So, guys, we're just gonna go watch this episode again. But what I love is like the choreography of flea bag Oh, your head movement, while clearly has her head down in her hands fleabag like looks to the middle. She looks at us on the side. Then she looks back to the middle, right and then backed it like a beautiful dance and and it just so fun. She's kind of like I will let her process and they look to us is like yep, like we all know happening. We know happening. I didn't think I did think it's funny, because clear when Claire realizes that fleabag did answer her request to stop the way, I was like, Look, I did help, did it? And in a way that godmother would fucking hang Mike like, just hate knowing that something has happened with the two of them. And, uh, and I think, maybe just put the pieces together about why the priest bailed on the wedding. Yes, like it's kind of all finally making sense. Um, I also I enjoyed that that Claire acknowledges that she's like, I'm sure it's very complicated, but she didn't see it is just like, ah, conquest or some like joke thing, like what she was doing. Well, in that case, that must be complicated. As I'm I am accepting that this is really right, right? And like your real humans and you both have a story, right? Yeah, that was kind of nice and fleabag acknowledges, yes, it's very painful and that it's a struggle for her to not just the priest, which we know is right. Totally. Then guess who shows up

clad Is that you? Oh, God. Oh, God. Oh, my God. Claire, I love your hair. It's so cute and edgy and cool, like superstar. Listen, these penguins are taking me to this new amazing London music thing. Are you free? He asked. You wanna come? Oh, I have to take my steps on his pursuit. I mean, I wish I could. Well, I leave tomorrow, so Oh, I'll think of a soon. I'm going. Okay, good. Um, no. He's expecting me to just just tell Jake is with me at the cafe. It's fine. Hey, I don't want to get in the way of your family there. I'll take it. Please get in the way of family days. Just tell Jake I've got it. 70 biting like that. I can't believe your hair. It's so cheek and cute. It's all the things really goes so well with your thoughts. Honestly, I've had such a day.
spk_0: 2:11:54
Oh, Claire and Claire. What are the chances that Claire was walking through the park? I mean, that's another Suspend your disbelief. It's television show, but it's just you okay? I love Claire. I really he's just grown. I mean, I liked him from beginning I've grown to love him because he's so the opposite of Martin. Everything about him is so positive, so enthusiastic, enthusiastic, genuine, just pure joy. Like he said, he loves Claire in such a positive way. And I think because he is equally successful, there's no resentment there like he just admires her for things well. And there's obviously mutual respect. Yeah, they even introduced each other at the women, in Wright's words. Exactly. And, uh, this guy, Christian Hilburn. Easy on the eyes. Yeah, not too bad. He's a He's a Q T. And I think he really does love her hair like he says everything. Fleabag said as, ah, being nice. And he means it genuinely. I know. And that validates what Fleabag said, because it's like, Well, you're Moose's Drew. You have to say that. But then it's like, Oh, no, the boy have a Christian? Yeah, well, I think, and I it could also be he likes her, so he's just going to be He's gonna like whatever shots exactly. She's a superstar pop star superstar pop stars. His accent makes it. It really does and then, you know, invites her out to this new amazing London music thing. Just like, what the fuck is that in the middle of the afternoon? Like a concert? Yeah, I don't know. And the way he refers to the co workers as these penguins, which I think he's trying to set it up of, like they're stiffs. Yeah, Cool, Right? And a side of penguin is actually a slang for a nun. You know, I don't know if that was intentional, but yes, he looks so sad when she was Is this the worst excuse ever? Maybe more so than I have a priest who needs me. But, uh, I have to take my stepson his, but soon Oh, in that case, I mean, his face falls so it just shot just, like, cascades down like the joy just, like drains out of his face. Because I think it's probably like, Oh, she can't come. And also that's why not, Like, clear Just had to remind everybody that I have a family stepson, right? And so I leave tomorrow and the way again flee back to the rescue. I'll do it. I'll take the baby when she pulls it out. Yeah, No biggie, actually, Literally, like tears it out Yeah. Also, I enjoyed the mirror scene where, if costly back had tried to take the bassoon that morning just to help her out. Yeah, but she was perfectly balanced and she didn't need any help, But not so much anymore. He's not balanced at all. No, no. So take a really fucking But soon, yeah. Even her hair is off his off balance. Her hair is off is like Jack. Whatever you mean. I saw it was anything in that Vogue article. The woman described it as a semi colon that had attached itself to her head. Oh, I am so late itself down on her order. Something that's pretty good, eh? Yeah, I like that. The This by Claire by Claire by Claire I put it on the perfect flea bag. How many moment? Because it's the culmination of his name being clear. And also her breaking the fourth wall, plus just the comedy rule of threes. So it's funny because it could only be done on this show. There's no other show where this is a setup that makes any sense. No. And so when she was even when she started doing it, you're like other elbow And then when she turns to us, it's just a fun little surprise you like. It's a fun surprise. It's delightful old. It's just this show's identity. Is that that little moment? Yep, if you're having too, and you can on Lee appreciate it. If you have built up to that moment, I love it. I know that weight by Claire and then clear all the things he's saying to her as they walk away because your hair's so whatever cute. It's all the things. It was so great with your top. So I know what I thought was interesting is on like then millions. Listen, um, your numbers keep going up your eye Trouble. I've watched the show is five million times serious tremendous shows. Nobody's watched it more than me. Nobody's watching show more than me. Very smart. This Ah, Phoebe Waller Bright is doing great things. Great. Um, anyway, what I think is funny is that I was watching the subtitles when I was watching it last week on DDE. It's literally at one point. It just has finished, like, clear there, speaking for a little finish, and he says, Who? Ge, which is I word I know it's hot. Like Hyuga. It's the like Comfort Co nordic. Yeah, it's like the word for comfy and cozy and a huge part of their culture. Um, and I was looking up because I always thought it was like Swedish Norwegian because I had a friend that lived in Norway for a while and she told me about and well, I won't ever. So then when I was looking at up, I came across some articles claiming that there's a new yoga. It's also reconnoiter the feeling of getting drunk at home, alone in your underwear, with no intention of going out, which I'm very down with the public service announcement. I call that Saturday all day just getting wasted, your underwear. But I just love those money. But he really

doesn't like
spk_0: 2:17:32
you say, he says, who got, like thing, the cozy thing. But that's probably be reading too much into it and being like I know one Scandinavian thing, it's this I get a lot of catalogs where you could get blankets and stuff that say that word on really, uh, there, I believe you. I get I don't know how I got on this mailing list sometimes, I guess sometimes if it's not even the people who used to live in this House Monica mailing list for a horse catalog. Horse gifts horsey like gives for the horse or gifts for horse lovers both. They're covering all its rains. It's covers it like, uh, whatever brushes they. And then also, you know, like a night shirt that says, Like no one in this house is stable and it's just horsing around. It's like that house is stable. Yeah, it's like that. That's solid. But when Claire says to fleabag like, I'm sure it's very complicated, Um, that shows like unexpected empathy and compassion. And I think she's revealing that she understands that things aren't always black and white and realizing in admitting that, you know, hates her husband will help with that because you can't be empathetic to someone else's life if you don't admit that there are problems within yours, and so because to be empathetic is to acknowledge that's to somebody else, that life is fucking complicated, and you wouldn't be able to do that without acknowledging that your own life is that. And I saw it. I just like soft. I saw growth Yeah, we should post the because we only we've mentioned burn a brown enough here and I know that's what I mean. It's what's happening. Our quota. One of her like original things. She post somebody didn't an animation to, ah, part of a speech. She gave her something about empathy. Bond. It's the the idea that, like if someone's like in a pit and you're up top, that the wrong kind of thing is to go, Well, at least you're not in a fire. Well, at least it's not full of water Well, like all this stuff. But then, empathy is just someone who gets down there with them and says, Oh, yeah, let me come down here like him now with, you know, we're both trapped. You know, it's a better analogy than that. We're not on fire. At least we're not like that. I will post. Yeah, we'll find it for you, LINX. I'll send it to you. Excellent. So the music here, This is the first time we're hearing this kind of bittersweet version of the curious, gentler soft. It's like a xylophone type, right? I think that's what he's saying, and, um yeah, and it's just a little. It's sweet and it's It's like quieter, but there's a little bitter sweetness to it. And we hear it again when they, uh, have a little make out session at the house before the wedding way here again on I feel like I think in this case, it's kind of like we know Claire's life is changing. We know she's about to leave Martin like, and there's a little bit of sweetness that we're happy for her. But we know there's a lot about to happen for her. It's tentative. Yeah, I know. You're like, Okay, here we go, right? And then later in Episode six it's the same thing, even though we're happy that he's kissing her. That music hints at like, This isn't solid, right? Yeah. And then we cut into the guitar the because she realizes how long she's left because she's going to the park. They've gone Anthony, like they've made a day of it. She realizes, like, Oh my God, have her fucking has invented to run Ben there a minute. So now she goes back to the cafe.

Theo. Well, I was exhausting. The New Guinea pig is in with Hillary they showed the cucumber. Okay, which is quite sweet. Thanks. Well, let's say anytime. But you have any job? I will be that my wife would love Chatty Wednesdays lover. Oh, you have a visitor. He said he knew. So I let him wait in there. Nice doing business with you. Fine. You took that thing. Oh, hey, it's gonna make up. Assumed that up soon in your hand. Are you just pleased to see What? Would you say that to your son when he has soon? Sure, but it's never pleased to see me. He's doesn't even make sense. Why I would ever soon in my hand, like a dick in your hand. All right. If I was walking towards you with an amputated dick in my hand, You think I was horny? Well, I assume that you have been. Certainly wouldn't put it past you to chop a pick up. Put the gun down. Where is she? Why? While she was meant to have dropped that off and she's not at the office, I don't know where she is. I just found that. Please have a seat. I would never hurt. Beginning wouldn't do that. Oh, sweetie, it's adorable. Are you sure? We should even be talking. I need to be getting me arrested or something. Well, she really tells you everything, doesn't she? Cute tables, our cheeses, mountain you the problem. You know that you are the problem in my perfect awful life. I haven't seen you in a year. And yet still off she runs into the night for you. I can't even get the women pregnant. And then you come in showing off about your miscarriage. Like you even want the one you had. I was just trying to make her feel better. Give me your phone. No. Give me your fault. Is she leaving me? I'm sorry, toe. Literally. Don't let her leave me, please. I hope he doesn't come home tonight because Because I'll take you down. Fucker. I will take you down. Buck up. Fuck you! You! You You fuck you! You better start sleeping with kill here. Yeah, I better call my lawyer.
spk_0: 2:24:48
Okay, We're so close. It was close to go into the sexy stuff, but we have to get through this murder. Yeah, is classic, Martin. What a cock block. So the like. We talked about the bank manager sandal. That was exhausting. Like realizing how hard she worked. Yeah, And he is. So he's quite sweet talking about the the guinea pigs and getting picking hamster sharing a cucumber. And I was unclear when he said my wife would love chatty Wednesdays that if they were still together, and I guess they are. I just left him telling her I am back together with my wife. Right. We will enjoy chatty Wednesdays together. Yeah, we have a fresh start and everything is good. Yeah. And then he takes the penny in April. Yeah, and I think he just wanted to souvenir. I love that cause I like that he takes it off right, but then walks away, and then he just walks away with it, and yeah, it's just so charming. I don't know. It just really I mean, he worked his ass off. Probably for, like, three hours or something. He deserves a fucking apron. Sure. I love how matter of fact there goodbye is to buy. The pleasure doing is with you by just moving along with me. That would be the most awkward. Like, Listen, I what's your number like, What's our relationship now? Yeah, uh, So when he goes, you have a visitor. He said he knew you, so I let him in. I think we all immediately, soon as the previous. It's pretty hope it's the priest and which makes the reveal even better that you don't even see him. You just first see her go. Hey. Even so, it's like so it's the opposite of the opposite. Would freeze. Damn it. Also double. Let's some Rando man wait in a private establishment because they say they know the owner. Well, he's a manager, not a restaurant, man. You know, uh, yeah, I agree. But, like, all right, uh, and then So she walks on you to make this pursuit, Joe. Yeah. Which, uh, is funny that she predicts his bad sexual joke. I enjoyed it that she broke that down because that's just like a thing. It's like, Is that a blah, blah, blah? Are you just happy to see me? And I'm gonna let this go? Yeah, just like No,
spk_1: 2:26:53
let's take a
spk_0: 2:26:54
second and make you think about what you just said, right? Like no. And then out of that, we kind of get well. First, the revelation of, like Jake has never pleased to see me, you know, and he knows. And we know because he's asked her to tell Claire. Leave him and he's always asking for clear. Yeah, and then when he gets to the part about I wouldn't put it past her to chop a dick off here. I saw it as she has emasculated Martin and a lot of ways because of like, when she's in the picture, clear, kind of. She's the more dominant force in Claire's life, which is what drives him nuts. But then it kind of is a callback to the priest talking about the man who wanted to be a saint so bad he castrated. Yeah, totally wack. Totally. Yeah. Yeah. Even though, in a way, fleabag has done the opposite to the priest case like Penis back and, yeah, put it a word and put it back to work. Come on, you're coming out. I'm going back in the lineup. Eso when he takes Hillary, I was worried. I know. I was like, fuck Martin's evil. Like who? What's he gonna do? He's gonna d'oh! But I actually it's so so great. This the moment It's so fun and then great. When he's like, I wouldn't do that. Yeah, but it's also like, What do you think of me? You've set us up to believe that you are the epitome of terrible, right? Yeah. He just had a bad personality is not violent. But I had the same thing about what happened earlier. Yeah, and then how? He's like, it's fucking a door and his drunken This was kind of like when you go. So the sandwich is so good when he's, like cute tables. Yeah. Realizing that he is drunk and does not need her judge pulled out the flask. Yeah, and how she really annoyed that she does. Aren't you supposed to be having me arrested? And I like how everything Martin does and how he talks about flea bags. Relationship was with Claire is as if they're having an affair like Oh, she really does tell you everything you like off into the night. She runs well, He's the competition, right? And she's gonna win. And she's winning. Yes. Uh, and you had say, because Because you are the problem. My perfect, awful life. He's acknowledging my life is terrible, but when you're not around, I can kind of create this charade. Yeah, and you come in and you break up this charade. Yes. However, they haven't seen each other in a year, right? She says. So she can't be the only thing I know like well, but he it's just easier to keep up appearances when she's out there making them because and it's almost like the temptation thing again. It's like if she's not in the picture, Clear is not tempted to actually live her life the way she wants to you, and we'll just settle for Martin. Yes, and comfort. Yeah. Ah, when he okay. Also, when he said off, she runs into the night for you, it's a great line ever when asked a SW, far as we know. Yeah, when has Claire done this for Flea bag? Makes you think. I mean, I don't actually think this is true, but it's one thing about him is clear. Lying about seeing Claire with a K and saying she's going off to take care of flea bag. But she runs off into the night or because Blue Bag is the one that dropped everything for clear today. Or is he talking about the miscarriage. Like what? Claire went to the hospital when she allegedly had a miscarriage that's not running off into the night. That's like being a decent human being. I don't know why, but regardless of that, it is fun. That one fleabag free bog when fleabag looks at us and it's just like she does, she does run off tonight for me. Like Right acknowledged that, especially after their conversation on the bench. Yeah, uh, that's where fleabag grows for cranberries is in the booth. It's, ah gonna write a fan fic about her. Nobody is called out Credit every business Know the primaries. I think that is maybe a call that just thio Episode one because he didn't she didn't necessarily say I'm of Episode one of season two. Yeah, he she didn't cleared it necessarily say I'm going with her to the hospital and there's we've said that when we talk about that episode, it's unclear why she and Martin are not going home together. They did show that they arrived separately, but no. Yeah, so I guess potentially. They came in two different cars and each took a two cars home. Now I'm really getting to you know. Yeah, but it struck me before. Like, why is she not going home with him is because of the fight. But maybe they did arrive separately, But it could be that she went off with you. And I think it's, uh yeah, what would be another? I don't know if it maybe they've just had arguments where she's bringing up things that fleabag has said, or I don't know. Yeah, but or that's just his image of Yeah, he's projecting that now. Oh, at the other thing, too. When we wouldn't. We'd mention this before. You and I have talked about this. He's also under the impression that Claire knew about flea bags pregnancy and didn't tell Martin, because when she goes, it was also more secret. It was very early stages, and he looks because you knew you said you hadn't talked for a year. So again, it's this idea that they're talking behind his back or that they're having this affair. I mean, they're sisters, right? And, um, and she just has revealed that Claire told her about him pressing charges. So he's getting all these clues of like it's a conspiracy, right? Everything's about me and I'm the victim here. Yes. Yeah, I think you know, he thought that time away from flea bag would fix everything, but all it really did was delay the inevitable disintegration of that relationship. Yeah, and under underestimated kind of their love for each other's sisters. Yeah. Um Oh. So then this argument of the reason he was insulting flea bag about because he goes, you flaunt your miscarriage, acting like you don't even want the one you had. She never acted that way, you know. She just had Well, she did. And it shouldn't come out and go. Oh, thank God. Yeah. Look at me and my missus care. Yeah, no, but he it's revealing when he was acting that yeah, he is. And that his insults of flea bag were an attempt to make clear feel better that, like, flea bag was gonna be such a terrible mother. Or this kid would never want fleabag for a mom. It's just such a twisted logic. So fucked well, here. So that my take on that was like, he does have a conscience. He doesn't often listen to it. But he has one, and I think he feels bad. He knows he was a dick about that, but instead of a. But this is why it he's Martin is because instead of apologizing or acknowledging that he acted Chitti, he just comes up with, like, reasons to just absolutely justify it right. And they're not real reason. No, it's just more denying. Yeah, and trying to frame himself is the good guy. Yeah, I also when he says, Give me your phone. I'm like, Do you Do you think if you're like, demanding or loud enough people will just do what you say? One again. He knows it's Claire or assumes. It's clear, all right. And it's more of this, like she's this secret, uh, trist in her life for something. And then he gets very vulnerable with this. Don't let her leave me, and we see that this has been his underlying insecurity the whole time. And Brett Gilman is so great in this moment because in for a split second, you have empathy for two. Even fleabag does. Even fleabag does, or she kinda looks, honestly, a little bit second, she said, Oh, he really turned it on. Yes. Yeah, and you kind of do see he really is terrified of this, but but he's also terrible. He's also still Martin, and she knows this one moment is not indicative of the whole pattern s So she kind of has that moment and then is like, I'm gonna call you on this bullshit exacting and then really triggers him with, Like, I hope she doesn't come home, you know? And then when he grabs her, I was scared. You're too, you know, I was like, a week. What? You're not gonna hurt? The guinea pig is gonna hit? I didn't know what we were supposed to expect. A little side note the whole time. Until when I was watching this last night. I thought she was saying, Catch me, Catch me, Catch me. So when she looks at us a little bit like are you talking to us? Right? Are you talking to him? What? What? I really didn't understand that part. Totally. And it doesn't really have any physical, well, sort of semi violence in general. And then I have the You're like, Wait a minute. Subtitles on or she's not like cashmere. Like don't ruin my nice sweater. Your dick, right? I had the exact same experience. Okay? And I guess she is getting nicer clothes now. Should make him some money because casual makes sense. Yeah, you can get a good price. Yeah, Yeah. When he gets in real close and says, uh, what does he say? I will take you down. Yeah. Fucker. Fucker. And he's kind of whispering it. Yeah. How bad do we think his brother? Disgusting. Like probably just like whiskey. And, uh, remember she said, right. E really gonna trust that Martingale, that Debra Gilman's brothers. Fantastic. Oh, no, I'm sure. But, man, just with his look. And he's drunk, and she looks terrible. He probably has, you know, hasn't slept. Yeah, And then when he goes, you better start sleeping with a lawyer. I actually think that he uses sleeping with that. That's her way of, like having hiring anybody. Yeah, Iron. You're right. Yeah. And then when she was already absolutely because lucky over there, which is this really a slip of life? Kind of revealed that, but deep down, he would enjoy sex with her. No. Another example of how people end up spilling their true Selves. Eventually, you can't. You just can't hold it. That's a lot like his. When he leaves, he goes because it's like I said something nice. Kind of. He said, You're that lawyer is lucky because he gets to sleep with you just to sleep with you. Kind of said what I was thinking. And also now I've just had another big outburst with her and lost control a little bit. And then who the fuck knows where Claire is? Right? Like everything is falling apart for Martin, but and then this quick look, which was I better call my lawyer because we know who our lawyer is s o It's this double meaning of like, she kind of also just verbally assaulted Martin. But when she does, I will take you down. Fucker. But the, um she also just like some sex, please. Yes. Speaking of sex, please. Yeah, Let's go ahead. Let's have some sex, please. Let's just get to it.

You don't want to do something to your head out that the only person want to see in the world is the priest. So you pick yourself up, cover yourself in Cochran Oil. Oh, the construction of the scene never fails to amaze me because, I mean, we know what it's building to, but, like she builds the tension so naturally on, like, my heart was pounding through the whole scene. I mean, not just for obvious reasons, but it's just it's what we've been building up to since episode one. And it's like, we can't believe this is actually happening, because when she opens the door, he's them. Yeah, and, uh, it's kind of that's been the experience of the two of them, Like they've been leading up to this moment. Yes. And, um, it's because fleabag is one of the shows. I was always, like, eyes up, watching like I wasn't on my phone. No swelling. Yeah, and but then this scene specific. I was just, like, riveted, like I like the house caught fire. I would've been like, What room is It was just the guest room. That's fine. Let's just see how this ends before we go. Like it's Theo. Guest room is where we record this podcast. That a true that was what we haven't started it yet wth E. So this is the start of the scene is a callback to the very first, which is Oh, I love that. Like she did that for us. Yeah, just like a little book in. Yeah, I love it. And the set up that he gave her nine orgasms that she didn't want, which she's again saying like, this is not about any kind of connection with this guy. Meaning? Yeah, it was just distraction. I'm back to where I was, like, transactional, But I'm totally up front about it. And then when she was just do something. Get your head on the fact that the only person you wanna see the world is the priest that you that you what? Oh, so much unsaid. Fuck every both can't something about, uh um and then she also it's all this groundwork for the rest of the scene, because then she's now also set up that she is sex ready. She is covered in coconut on status. Sex, sex ready. I smell like coconut oil and hasn't shaved her legs and legs. Right? Yeah. Uh, and the, uh just all the sound design throughout this whole thing. Because I love when she opens the door, we see him and you hear thunder. Uh, because it is, it makes it like God. Well, yeah, because it's dramatic, but it's also almost like gods, like I'm watching exactly, like our I know. And also, what I like is when she opens the door to the priest, he has a similar look on his face, as he does when he drew back the curtain and, like, so intense and like, his eyes were dark and yeah, yeah, but then kind of sheepish. Yeah, it's almost like I told you not to come to the church, but year here I am. You know, I didn't say I couldn't come here, right? I know the ex and his little Hey, look, it's It's so adorable. Like hot at the same time. And yeah, and then your sister gave me your address. Okay. I want to know I like first. Well, that he explained how he got the because somebody shows were masters like, where the fuck did you come from? Because nobody shows up. Anybody store in real life? Please, please don't like no, but because your sister gave me your address, I want that. I want to hear that conversation between a player. Like what did he tell her? What was his excuse for needing her address and was unlucky? Said, wasn't she out of the new amazing London music thing yet with the penguin with? That's where that's what. What I was saying was that was, like, no clear is busy right now. He must have asked for her address like it earlier, so I don't know, but that stone, some scones I'd like to send a fleabag. What's her address? No, I have some course catalog merchandise I'd like to send to her. What, sir? Again, she appeal bodies whatsoever is state. So I just want to know what that conversation was. Did Claire let on that she knew it was going on because clearly fleabag and him hadn't talked at any point between her saying like Oh, by the way, my sister knows right? And then and then clear it like give your sister a text had heads up like by the way, the priest is heading to your house Savior, Get your hoo ha. She So his sister gave me your address. Then where was it? Points out. She she's wearing her coat. She's wearing your coat. I like they call each other out on Like like, why are you doing this here? That's unusual And that, you know, I was just No, I just got in and I like when she says, Tow us. I've only got underwear on under this coat. Like she is aware he's she has just let him know I just got in and she says to us, I only have underwear under this coat. But then his next line is Okay, Good. You're right. Letting fine he's responding to. I just got also okay, Good In this, the hand fidget he does when he walks in grease like tapping his legs and like he's nervous and we know it's for so many reasons. Then this is where she goes. Water. No, I want to clear how I want to keep a clear head. I know. And someone had asked, What is the joke there? I took it that he either just assumed she offered him alcohol. Yeah, because that was their default. Go to right, And he's not listening to anything she's saying because he's practicing his whole speech. Exactly. Exactly. Got a little speech. Does he have a little speech? And I think it also shows like all he wants to do is drink because that's his crush for Wendy feels like this. And also all he can imagine is her offering him alcohol, right, because, you know, like, yeah, so he doesn't even here. And it's important to that. He wants to keep a clear head because he doesn't want to repeat the quote unquote mistake he made as time roll. Yeah, which then makes it all the more important when they finally do have sex. That he is stone cold, sober like this is a righteous, deliberate decision. He knows exactly what he's getting into. Yes. Uh, yes. And then when he says he's gonna do the wedding after all and he's like, Well, no one else is where the outfit. Yeah, I thought I heard it. As like most priests, most Catholic priests aren't going to do a wedding outside of a Catholic church To people who clearly aren't Castle. Yeah, but you pointed out what I like better is that it's literally the outfit like you went shopping, had the shopping dressing room montage, and no one else is gonna wear. Why don't I own? I think he might also just be making a joke, because kind of when she made the joke about you have the dress. Yeah, that he's kind of joking, but he's so preoccupied with the whole situation that it comes out very serious. Now when he starts this little speech, What was his little speech gonna be? I really would love what I heard. And I have been without hot misogynists. Yes. I mean, I think I think it helped, like hot, misogynist, different really ramped him up. Yes, him hearing them talk about that right, made him jealous and, like, amped up. Yes, and is like directly contributed to them having sex. It kind of reminds me of a Cubs fan world. I'm just I'm going somewhere in the World Series game 7 2016 This is the only sports I care about. Yes, they were losing. The Cubs were either tied or down a run. And then there was a rain delay, and and it was like an hour long rain delay. And everybody was like, Oh, man. But here's what it did. It killed the Indians. Momentum. And in the clubhouse, Jason Heyward, Cubs outfielder, gave the team a big pep talk and was like, We've done this before. Yeah, we're gonna do it again. We're gonna go out there was gonna play baseball, and they won the World Series. Yes. So the rain delay was a message from God that that the Cubs needed to win the World Series. So the hot misogynist it was God that it's just time to get this shit. Just fucking do it. Yes, Just do it. I play a game with myself sometimes. That Zoe Yeah, that, like name, any concept or object, I will tie it back to flea bag. Oh, God. I mean, almost like all so many conversations I have lately. I just want to quote it. I just want to say and it looks like a second flea. That I know everybody's making, you know. They know they know at work, you know? Oh, yeah, it's a bit much, but whatever then But But, yes, it is Andrew Scott acting. I love that. That's another scene that we don't see a lot. A cz much of. And we watched him. Andrew Scott's reactors. Priest Reaction? Yes, to it. He's like confused. He's alarmed. He's intrigued. He's jealous like yeah, uh, on her way in. The buzzer goes when he's in the middle like I speak. When I was there goes and I was a child. And then he does that little smile like, Oh my God, this is so fucking annoying. Yes, the second time he's right now. It's not funny, because the first time he's like, Do you wanna get that? He does that little smile and again calling out like you're wearing your jacket, You're not answering your door. What the hell's going on? And I This is another line that I quote all that when he goes, because I don't like answer the door to people I don't know. And then again, the rhythm of the sound is because that first buzz bah it's like musical like it has beets to her. And then even the rest of the like, he buzzes it three times. And then I had never caught until a recent viewing that the last was he goes Eladio, which is that is awesome. Um, s Oh, yeah, the fact that he was about to maybe he was really resolute in. I'm going to tell her I can't do this any. And then even when she also, then he goes over. Yeah, And so now she has this conversation with hot misogynist That is all about sex. Oh, my God. And hilarious. Very funny. This might is one of my favorite exchanges. Like, I feel like the whole thing should just be caught taught in comedy, right? Sure. You can't come in or you want to do it on the Durst on it all works because we have that instant recognition from that first scene. We always seen him in a couple scenes. Wake him so well. Yes, And her reason that was almost like my stepson needs his pursuit. My priest is here and he needs some guidance. I had to I had to do Subtitles on the first time that I was like Wait, what did she? She's just saying that and it's the reverse of what would normally happen. We'll go to a priest for guns, and then I just wrote it. I'm hoping he's having an emotional crisis, and I like that hot misogynist, reacts appropriately to that also just like. But that's not a thing that doesn't make any sense at all. And so he goes. Is he okay? I know. Look, I'm taking you completely your word now I know. And yeah, and the fact that you said we spend more time with the priest and his reactions because everything about this has been us and fleabag wondering what he's thinking? Yes, What choice is he going to make? And that's exactly what we get here. And he's getting this glimpse into her world. Yeah, and like her history and it definitely triggers jealousy of like somebody else is interested in her and, like, literally was going to come here to have sex, to have sex with her. And I'm hearing and he's had sex with her and and now it's just like the room's just filled with sex, sex, sex. I know the idea and think you're the best sex I've ever had. Like all this stuff. That's I'm really the challenge, right? He's really good at it. Yeah, And it gives us that whole exchange about, like, you know, you seem to really like what I did. I'm really good at it. It gives us this backdrop that she is actually more concerned with love now. Yeah, than with sex. And she would rather talk to the priest about not having sex that actually have sex with hot misogynist. That is an ex. Yeah, she just wants him gone. Totally. I I'll just go take this somewhere else. Good. Good for her on I want to know who's the lucky lady? I know, Lady. Nine times nine, you're a saint. Religious. His reaction to that is nothing about I'm so glad you had such a good time. You know, it's like, Oh, I did that. My accomplishment. I know I'm the champ. And now here's again the on a lesser show cause he's the priest started looked really uncomfortable. And I had this initial thought that he was gonna be, like, turned off by all this and like, Whoa, I'm way in over my head and I just need a Lee. I'm gonna leave because I've Miss Red or whatever. This isn't for me on, but I think Mauritz like he's just trying not to think about sex. That was the whole reason for coming there. A resolute. And now it's all they have been talking about for the past three minutes. I know. Oh, and then when he goes, you're a saint. Yeah, that's a little another religious. No. Yes. Yes! All right. So, homicide, just go take that somewhere else. And now we can now go back to the present. And now the moment you've been waiting literally true. Here we go.
spk_1: 2:53:07
Sorry. Nine times. I got to get rid of him. I can't be physical with you. We can't even wrestle. The priests have sex. You know. A lot of them actually do that have burst into flames. I Googled there. I can have sex with you because I'll fall along with you. And if I fall in love with you burst into flames bus, my life will be fucked. I'm gonna have sex. I'm supposed to love one thing. Going looking for fuck's sake. I don't think you want to be told what to do at all. I think you know exactly what you want to do. If you really wanted to be told what to do, you'd be wearing one of these. Women aren't actually fuck off. No, We're gonna have sex. Yeah. Okay. Oh, okay. Uh, listen, I have a no
spk_0: 2:55:37
Do we need a moment? I for the record, you're listening to that. I know. And here's what's interesting that those pauses air so long when you're just listening to it. You're not looking at his face. Yeah, um, which just amps up even more waiting. Maid said Hotter. Who s o again on on a lesser show? Like I When the whole thing I thought he was just gonna be like, I made a mistake. I see what's going on here, but it's flea bag. So it actually happens is its original and unpredictable and perfect. I know like he's not judging her at all. I won't ask, you know, but that he has thio because you know, nine times and here's our first viewer and but I like that he's not, like, shocked as a priest, like heaven's me. It's more just like intimidated someone who wants to have sex with her night now. Yeah, like, Oh, my God. This when I'm up against obviously and that's the thing. It is a feather in hot massaging his cap because she's had sex with a lot of guys I know so a lot he should be really proud of. Yeah, she probably should give him a little pin or something. Hey, he gets like a ribbon. Yeah, like a blue ribbon. She's been waiting. I had this made when I was 22 waiting for the moment to give this to the right man. I have a friend that had got a bunch of little blue Rubens made, but it's for baby because she used to go around me like that is a blue ribbon baby, just a really cute baby. And so she got like it was, like, so cheap She for, like, 20 bucks. You got, like, 300 wow blue ribbons made. It doesn't You're been baby, and she'll just be at restaurants. That's actually amazing, like creepy, but it's funny to watch how people react. Oh, that is so you are a blue ribbon baby. That's a real job. That's a real chatty Wednesday idea. You know, I love that. Thank you. That's really cute. Well, we're not here to talk about that. Were so when he cuts to the chase is like, I can't be physical with you. I noted that he doesn't say we can't see each other. Just I can't be physical with you. Maybe he's leading up to if that's what you want and also the like, always the last conversation. He's just been sitting there thinking about being physical with her. Totally. And when she does, we can't even wrestle like comma Well, but his laugh is not genuine. Like it's not the bus stop laughing. He's like, Oh, that was actually taken aback. It's kind of It's a priestly laugh. It's that, like, laugh. You do apparently, huh? You know, I'll give it to you. Yeah. And like, I think he's just trying to push through this awkward moment. Yeah, get there And this whole conversation, But okay. He comes to her house in person, in the rain and the rate that rain. I know all I know. Let's face it. I know that night at night. Okay? He This is the counselor. He knew exactly what he was going to do, he could have protected her away. Yeah, he could have seen, like, senior the morning of the wedding. Men like, Hey, can we visit? I'm here. F y I Yeah, let's talk after the wedding in the daytime. Right. Uh, let's meet at a coffee shop. Let's, you know, like normal people. Yeah. So the fact that he is there, he knows exactly what he wants to do. Yes, um, and her pyrotechnic view that he won't burst into flames. He might, though, because his lawyers might be on. Finally, we'll fire his life. Might be a Dumpster fire. That's one of my favorite friends references. When Joey finds Rachel has, like, a romance book in her bed, Like when they're living together, he's like, cleaning or something. And he finds her like a romance novel. Yeah, he's like Rachel's got porn. And then there he reads apartment Something about his the vicars burning loin and then later, Vicar, it's the vicar. And then later, like they're just out and Joey's like, Do you smell something? Something burning Must be your burning lawyer. I haven't How think I understood that actually, when I friends was my old job back. Yeah, then All right. So, um, he can't have sex with her because he'll fall in love with her so that this is the turning point for everything. Also, he's in love with her, but he is already would just be Oh, oh, like head over heels upside down. Yeah. Yeah, because the 1st 1 the first time I watch this, I thought when she goes, we're gonna have sex. Like I thought it was just a funny gimmick of her using the fourth wall, but like, why would she suddenly know that? But I think it's because when he says that she knows that he's not saying, Oh, it's because of my vows. I can't do it because of God. The church has nothing to do with him being a priest. It's because of the intensity of his feelings for her, and he's already got him. And so she knows that that's the reason. And he came to her house at night in the rain. Yeah, that she knows why he came here. I when that when I first saw it, I was like, Well, how do you know that? And then he goes, I'm supposed to love one thing in the lake, so Oh, yeah, they're definitely have sex, because now he's if you simply trying to convince both of that. You know, you're right. Oh, now you're just overcompensating, okay? You definitely are gonna have It. Sounds it sounds so shallow and forced. Yes. And it's It's like a moment like he's Yeah, like he's very forced his He's using his eyes. Yeah. Yeah, he's just losing it a little, right? Yeah, he swallowed. You're right. He's like, nervously swallowing because even before he says that, when the first time she goes, we're gonna have sex. If you watch just him, he's like, swallowing. He's got, like, this nervous dry mouth. Yeah, and then he doesn't still have one thing. I like looking at it. Okay. And then when she looks away again and he's already amped up like that's when you just listen, for fuck's sake. Yeah, I know. And it's partly of like when you're so familiar with someone and they just keep doing something that annoys, you know? But then that's but that's how he knows, because he's like, Oh, wait, I'm like, in love with you, right? I know this about way I feel comfortable with you. We can do right and partly to is like I am in front of you telling basically telling you I love you and your disengaging. Yeah, this is a huge moment for me, and I'm in a crisis right now. Thank you. And now what do you doing while you're not looking at a yes true? Um, yeah, like I won't burst into flames in my life will be fucked. Yeah, like he's not worried about God. He's worried about how much he loves her and like he could like we're talking about. He chose the priesthood to avoid the turmoil of this kind of romantic relationship. And but now it's he's in it. Yeah, And when he brings up the thing about I don't think you want to be told what to do a tall Yep. I think you know exactly what you want to do. That he's been thinking a lot about everything she said in the confession, like that's been on his mind because he immediately came. Yeah, like he pulled that out of kind of nowhere. And I mean, we we don't know how much time has passed I guess it was that morning. It was the night before. It was just the night before. It's just the night before, but I think it's definitely been on his mind that morning that all that day and everything he's saying about you don't wanna be told what to do. And if you did, you'd be wearing one of these. Like everything is about why he became a pretty He's actually revealing. He's revealing that, like I did this because I did want to be told what to do. And, you know, you actually don't want to be told what to do, even though you think you do. And like, right, you have all the freedom you don't even appreciate all this freedom you have. Yeah, you're seeing Is this burden on? My burden is light. Don't People are telling me what to do, right? Yeah. Actually thought thio when, um during the confession, she said, I want someone to tell me what to wear in the morning. One of her comments to the counselor was that the priest was in a bad relationship. The kind where someone tells you what to wear. Oh, she Yeah. You're so right. Yeah, I just thought at the other one another viewing. I Yeah. Nice, huh? Yeah. Let's see. Okay. So when he goes, you'd be wearing one of these, and she brings it back to women and five minutes. Actually, women are his foot off. I know his mouth. Like, just contorted. Yeah, he's, like, a little wild. And it's also like I'm living it. I know and quite aware. And also not the point, Right? Right. Yeah. Like can you Can we focus, please? Is like, please be were here with me, Like, follow what I'm saying And but then after that bust, when he the breathing room, they give him again to just, like, come and this, you see, watch him think everything. Yes. Which you were like that he needs to win all this. 32nd. My God, the Golden Globe Emmys could go. You just You watch the realization wash over his face, hole in like, and you see his you almost like, see the blood drain from like, you see him calm down. He's like looking everywhere. And I said, It's almost like when a plate spinning and it kind of spins faster. And then it finally stops. Yeah, and he even, like, keeps his mouth open the whole time. Like he's so just in a daze. Yeah, yeah, he's like Onley thinking it's Yeah, it's almost like a fugue state like Yeah, like any like, kind of comes out of it. And then just anybody stops and has, like, his comic timing, like obviously, he's very funny. And this, I think people think of Andrew Scott. Is this like, crazy dramatic? Yes, there is serious Acto. Or like even he plays kind of these darker roles. He is very funny. Comic timing is awesome. Absolutely. And here Yeah, he just gets that beat just right. And some of that probably the editing. Also, even if I mean they hold this shot on him well and what actually is no edit? True, True? I also read either was an article. Um, I'll post it. But is it was with Isabel while our bridge about the music and she said, um, she used the silences as well as the music to build the tension and drama and each scene, and she said, because it's a physical comedy and in the writing, there's not a beat that is misplaced the silence is as much part of the score like we wanted to use it quite sparingly because it just needed to have the right kind of impact every single time. Because sometimes it's very, very dramatic, and it needs to be like that. Silence is part. I mean, that's the You're literally what, you where you're talking about being like riveted during the scene. You're literally like, okay for you to say what's happening? Yeah, because it's also like the longer they're silent, the more what they say next has to mean something like You're thinking about something. Yes, And so when he finally goes, you were gonna have sex because he realizes, like this is just the inevitability of he's coming to Same realization. She is like we've been building to this from the beginning. Plus, he's there. I'm here like I obviously she's there. It's more of like, Oh, I came here to have sex with you. Yeah, that's what exactly you're like. He's realizing what he has already done, right, and I Yeah, I was looking back. It's almost like you could pair these lines of dialogue with their looks at each other after he says fuck you then. Ah, she looks back at him. He looks hurt. It's like at that moment, they were basically saying that. Yeah, it's over. Yeah, that's what they were working toward. Yes. Ah, All right. So then when he goes, you know we're gonna sex. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. The money. How mundane This is after all this buildup and all the tension. And what a huge moment this is. It's just this matter of fact, like Yankees resigned. Yeah. I mean, which is funny because she's kind of playing against this. The stakes, Yes, but it's also the record again. It's like this was just such a foregone conclusion. Like, why are we even making a big deal of it? Obviously, I feel like we need to talk about his, okay, because to me, there's a tone of resignation. Like, I can't take this anymore, Blake. I'm almost like I'm giving. I don't feel like it's an enthusiastic like All right, let's get it on. Let's see. Oh, I mean, I mean, I had a certain point. Certainly that's there, but I don't know it's different. It's It's like not it's like you're not seeing the Kim. You're not It's not about the fire between them, right? It's about like, uh oh, we've just both reached here now. Yeah, yeah, and that There's also nothing like nervous or hesitant, either. He's not kind of like all right, you know, or like the dressing, I don't know, like he's just kind of ignore accepted it base. Sometimes you have to accept the inevitable in just deal with the consequences. Yeah, I also think it's Ah, a couple of people said this on the Facebook group. I think that on the podcast, one that he knows he already loves her and this is something she wants. And so he's going to give her something she wants. And I think it's obvious that he doesn't want. Yeah, he's going to get something out of two, obviously been pushing this forward. But I also think it's a critical moment in the establishing that he was at no point was he a predator or taking a manager, agreed he you know, it's not like he's kind of like score like, yeah, he genuinely wants to do this. I think because she wants it. Yes, the Curia comes back on when he starts to walk over to her. Yeah. And you had found Theo translates. So, like any curie a cure? It just means it's like it's a prayer to Yeah, Yeah, but it means, like, Lord have mercy. Yeah, which I love. Yeah, in Greek. And you read these? The lyrics actually. Are Curie like when you hear it, it sounds like she doesn't cure it. Kristie A Yes. Yeah. It's not the co narcissist. Yeah. Yeah, like that's throughout. Right. But it's not. Yeah, yeah. Um, but yeah. So when he starts walking to her, uh, I feel like it's like he's, like, gathering up his energy again. It's like the forward momentum it is, but the spirit of the of Tim Okay, The anticipation in that and all right, now we're going to spend 10 minutes on this moment alone, him pulling up that belt on her jacket. I'm sorry, but it is not funny because it's not like they're not like floodgates have opened. Let's run at each other right there. Sort of like Okay, we're taking that right. This is what is going to happen. He let us move sort of methodically. This is maybe one of the sexiest moments of the whole serial. Absolutely. Put this gift on that belt. Like it like snaps. Okay. Like, seriously put this gift on pornhub, but make it premium because that is, get that money straight up porn like it is. So because you can just feel the fresh Well, okay, so here's the other thing, too. Is that thought about this moment? Yeah. No, the Because I again I want to see the Scriptures to see how scripted this moment was or if this was like a little flair. And Scott added, because if it was, if I was seeing through a bridge of me, like what? Those the so? But because here's what I like. He's been hesitant about this, but now again, it's deliberate, and it's, like, thought through. But it's also like confident Yeah, and letting her know that. Okay, I haven't had sex in a long time. And this is who I but whatever, but like, I know what I'm doing. I'm sexy. I'm sexy in like you're again. She's not taking advantage of him. And like, and like, I have a sexual energy, right? Like, yeah, I know my way. We're in it. Yeah. Yeah, and um, it's it's just really good. I said that. I really think the first time I saw that like I got pregnant, I was watching TV. And then, man, when it's a gift and that just happens over and over, I will say the sound is important. Yeah, traits that snap sound true. True. I know it's just really good. I'm just gonna something more even saying that that moment is actually sexier than the Neil scene. And I would agree. I totally agree, actually, yeah, because you don't know what's happening. The Neil scene and she's so vulnerable. And what would this one you're just like Oh, yeah, no, I got it's happening. It's happening. That's not actually how I expected it to happen. Like he's kind of little short hair. It just looks. So I think also, All right, I'm gonna break out from my hair horn dogging over that belt, but I think this might have been one of the first scenes they film because there were some interview where she talked about, like the first scene we filmed was Andrew Scott. Tell it like it was Episode five and I thought to myself, I am getting paid to have Andrew Scott tell me he loves me, Which let me We're like, Well, won't that be six? But she specifically said for it, and he does say awful. Not in so many words. Yeah. Yeah. And which I was like, Oh, my God. I'm not acting that we know where they have not done any scenes together. And already the tension feel like they are Mr Chemistry, and they just know how to act it the way, like, holds her head. Okay, so I get to that. I have thoughts on that in a second. Okay? Because I was gonna say it. I This is me CS i Chrissy I think hair looks shorter than it does in the rest of seven years. I could see that this would be a first scene, which this is something always has driven me nuts with Sherlock in the washer. Like because, you know, the pool cliffhanger they pick up right in the next season. And his hair's grown like three inches like it's so clear consistency. Look, guys, we get a haircut. Obviously tell this was really not film back to back. Um, I feel like there was something else and say about that belt cause it's good. Okay, So before we get to his hand, when he opens her coat, this is throughout the whole thing. Now he's talking about he's mentioned quote twice like you're gonna Are you leaving? Are you? Take off your coat So it's almost like checkoffs trench coat because we know he's something's gonna happen with because he's talked about it, yes, but yes. Oh, the belt thing happens and then and we all know what's under there and she's she getting nervous. She's like, Oh, I had to deal with this to deal with this. I feel like this is like one of her last looks at us. Well, I mean, there's Apple more, but she kind of gives us one quick glance because he's looking down because she can. She can. He's not looking at, and she doesn't want to do it. Now he she knows he he notices right, but he can't see it because she doesn't want you preoccupied by what he's looking at is reacting. But it is also funny that, like he we know it's been a long time for him, and he's going from 0 to 60. God, I know. Honestly, there's no little like 00 here's your body and you smell like coconut oil. So, yeah, it's just like but then does not judge her, you know, at all because she tries to defend. Like I had this, then whatever. And he like, he knows exactly what that's like. Don't stop. Don't waste it. Don't ruin it. Don't feel bad like no negative emotions. Right now, the shushing is so sexy and like he doesn't shushed her. He doesn't put his finger on her lips. He doesn't hit to himself. But it's just like Stop, stop, stop, stop. It doesn't matter. No, don't let that enter here. It just doesn't I don't even care. Yeah, and I Okay. My thing, The exhale Did I Did you have more to say before the exhale? Let's just talk about this, okay? I I mean, it's a good coat, but I'm sorry. He flips it up and then looks at her like I know. Yeah, I just did that. I know, I know. Well, they're also they're both So, like, mindful of every second that's happening, I just when he, like, really looks at her and just exhale like nervous like Okay, right. You can do this also, like, enjoy this. Be aware, that kind of thing that fucking gets me. I was honestly, like, annoyed that she leaned in and kissed him on Dhe cut off that like the first? No, I wanted more of him. Kind of stings. We're shipping him. Yes. You pay more Shipping her? Yeah. Her? Yeah, it's almost like in the confession when he was looking your face. Yes. Now it's like, Well, here's the whole deal. Yeah, Here's the whole shebang. Was my fucking lying. He was what? I like the with her kids because he's nervous, because now it's also like, OK, the reality is here. Yeah, this is, like, now or never. You know, there's no turning back kind of at this point. And, um, you know, and obviously I'm sure she looks great. And he's just like, this is a lot. Yeah. Oh, happening once. So he's so nervous. And another parallel. He exhales Member Khaki pointed out that in season episode one of season two after the fuck you, then she leaves and he's smoking. He exhales the cigarette smoke. There's like a very deliberate exhale after she s O But he's clearly nervous. And so to me, her kiss is so kind. Yeah, and sadly true. It's not like it immediately a sexual kiss, you know, like because she just kind of leans forward and, like, places it on and like, it's almost like you're safe. Like a grounds have same page here. Yes. You're okay, right? It's gentlemen. And then it's not. Then it's like, OK, hormones. It's like your watch, big mouth where it's like the way we're back in action. Boy who has the heart of the British hormone monster I voicing a few. Oh, it's so no, there is no British one, but like who? Oh, I see. Ah, So then Okay. You talked about what he grabs her face. People talk about, like the confessional, his arms and his neck and everything. I'm sorry to objectify customers hands like when he put his hand on her face just straight up or, you know, because he went home. I like when he holds back her head and it cause it's just like he must have get a closer. Yeah, yeah, that when he pulls her on to him, let's just no boy why we're done. And then even the edit. Okay is another Zapruder film scene because they edit like that last like kiss. It's like it's kind of like there's movement. And then there's the movement of like so someone on the group was like, while we're talking that one thrust Come on, stop or something like that because you're It's like it's all we get. So but it's enough And what's also because it's again. What you don't see is what's so exciting, right? Because in your imagination goes in the fact that it's book ended exactly with the massage anus and that she pushes the camera way like Oh, by the way, this is for me. It's pretty great. And I'm just gonna focus here, right? Right, And the, um, I mean, it's like, but I was just joking. I'm like, Well, God damn her and her emotional growth. I want to see it. Show me the sexy time. Sexy time. Come on, when she says, like you know one, the one thrust, Come on. But when you think about it, when you buy by sex scene standards, this is really chased like there's no there's no zoo back, just his back. There's no new, Very nice. Very nice. Um, there's no nudity. It's not prolonged. What's probably two seconds total? Well, not even just the sex part. Just the, uh, laid up all of it is. I mean, it's not that realism like leaning way. It's not that graphic. Necessarily, like I've seen sexier scenes on like the good Wife, like, yes, but we've just been on this road with them building to it. That's why it's the carrots, the writing and the writing and the character development. And it actually reminds me of friends of Mine. Excuse me. Friends of mine had this idea where they wanted to. They were like We wanted you like a porn genre that is actually like a really basically, it's just a romantic comedy. It's like a really smartly written romantic comedy, like a normal movie. But then at the end, when they finally get together, it's like full on pornographic sex. Isn't that what everybody wants? And I was like, That's great, it's that the hand looking I think this is it. I think we found we found it and, um, if we could get some stand ins de nada. Um, no, that's that's yes. And that's why it's so sexy, because we are with them throughout this whole thing. And when we talk about this with six because I feel like each of their hook ups is progressively harder, like, I feel like the make out thing at the end against the wall and like somebody. Yeah, we had this conversation on the Facebook group that at that point there's nothing thought through about it. He's not like contemplating or making a decision. He's just acting on it anywhere you like, walks fire. You can't. You can't help it. But you know, he's acting on pure attraction was like, Oh, okay, no. Oh, so they're a couple other funny just talking about how sexy this scene is. I think I know what it was about this scene or the Neil scene, but I love when people post their text conversations of friends who are watching it for the first time. And this wonderful posted something that was like her friends like Okay, I just whatever and I think it was actually like like they're about to go to the confessional or something, and her friend was like, Well, Let's sit on a fucking towel. We come just helping you prepare. I love I was laughing so hard because that's what I love about flea bag, cause I mean, it was like, I want to be friends with that. Yeah, like I know you. And we have a friend. Yeah. Yeah. Sit on a fucking town. Oh, my God. Did you see the The Graham Norton clip that interest got is on? I feel like you showed it to me ages ago. Yeah, it was one of the first things I want and, um, s so young and naive, so young. Back when I literally have 1 June back in June. I have these thoughts are like was the first time I googled interest was the first they got clicked on Google could tell you so ridiculous or even really like Googling Flake. Phoebe Wall original. Like she wrote it like now. So naive. What a baby. Um but no, it's him on. And I think it was in, like may. Maybe it might have been before it started airing here. Okay, but it's Stephen Fry him. This actress named Paloma Faith and then an afternoon Lee Mack and they're on Graham Norton there on Graham Norton. Yeah, and at one point when we will post the clip, people have seen it, I'm sure. But at one point, Graham Norton's like, Oh, what a time to be like interest got hot, priest and and talk about it. And then there was a tweet. I meant to mention this. When we talked about the Neil seen his community named London, Hughes had posted, like Phoebe Waller. Bridge appreciation. Tweet like shitting hell when that priest said, Neil, my vagina exploded. In a way, no man is quite unable to its own God. And, of course, Andrew Scott's like, mortified when they're reading this. But then I guess Grandma runs like Temple. Oh, you actually had a confession, she said. Yeah, I actually told Andrew that I had a little alone time with Episode five and Graham Norton's Like, How Did Your Act? Is that what she told me at the BAFTAs were like, I'm not starving. Yeah, and she's like I just want to say, on behalf of people who have kids or have been in a long term relationship, thank you. Thank you, thank you. He's like, I haven't got it into the wall. And then, uh, what's her there? Stephen Fry was like, I just want to mention that the fact that I had my couch steam cleaned two weeks after I watched it is completely coincidental. And every is laughing. And then Lee Mack at the end, he goes, Can

say, Am I the only person here not masturbating to answer? Yes. Yes, you are like this port man. I know how in humiliating, but also very funny. Uh, well, sit on a fucking towel. So good. Uh, all right, well, that's the end. I can't The people who watch this live in the u. K. And I didn't wait. How did we do it? Because I remember watching it with my husband. And that ended. And then he goes, Well, I think it's I need him. He goes, I'm It's late. We should go to bed as like, there's a little bit more. Yeah, And he goes, Oh, there is. Okay. Yeah. 25 more minutes. All right. Oh, all right. Way we made it like that. I'm just gonna go up. Said I was literally just gonna be like I think I was gonna watch. I mean, it's after midnight. It is. When I get home, I'm gonna have to watch. It's 12. 15. Everybody's fine. All right, in the meat. So we next week is the play. We're gonna talk about the play going to the screening that's got on the week gaining. Yeah. That episode might actually, and that of a sudden might be under four hours. One can hope we're going to do a lot of editing. Then the next week we will talk about episode six sets of two weeks. Yes. And then, uh and then kind of a mother go from there we like. So I got the scriptures coming. So maybe December we might do an episode about those and then take a break for the holidays. We celebrate the birth of our Lord. Yeah. Jesus was Jewish. Hanukkah is over Christmas. This year it is. It starts on the night of the 22nd 1 for May I let you? Here's what I did not know that I'm glad you dares. Why? I know that my DRG loves calendar. Your four year old my four year old, loves sometimes You guys hear him at the end of the episode. Sometimes if he comes, he comes in and interrupts before he goes to bed. And I put a joke on the end. But he loves calendars, of course. And so we he's got a computer game or a game that just goes through the calendars, names, holidays. And there was actually one day he just sort of walking around going Yom Kapur.
