When I was growing up, I used"},{"startTime":269.47,"endTime":273.04,"body":"to say all the time, I'm such an idiot,"},{"startTime":273.04,"endTime":276.85,"body":"I'm so stupid. I'm, I'm same man, I'm"},{"startTime":273.04,"endTime":276.85,"body":"worthless. Even when I achieved something,"},{"startTime":276.855,"endTime":279.16,"body":"it still wasn't good enough. Mm-hmm."},{"startTime":276.855,"endTime":279.16,"body":"\u003caffirmative\u003e, right? So it's like, ah,"},{"startTime":279.16,"endTime":282.46,"body":"but I'm still made that mistake. What"},{"startTime":279.16,"endTime":282.46,"body":"a dummy. I would say these words."},{"startTime":282.46,"endTime":283.81,"body":"And I used to, when I was a teenager,"},{"startTime":284.05,"endTime":288.91,"body":"physically punch myself in the face"},{"startTime":284.05,"endTime":288.91,"body":"and in the head and beat myself"},{"startTime":288.91,"endTime":289.743,"body":"up physically."},{"startTime":289.87,"endTime":293.41,"body":"A lot of us just do it emotionally"},{"startTime":289.87,"endTime":293.41,"body":"and psychologically and verbally,"},{"startTime":293.62,"endTime":295.53,"body":"but I would do it also"},{"startTime":293.62,"endTime":295.53,"body":"physically. Mm-hmm. \u003caffirmative\u003e."},{"startTime":295.53,"endTime":300.37,"body":"So for many years I was driven"},{"startTime":295.53,"endTime":300.37,"body":"by an identity that did not serve"},{"startTime":300.7,"endTime":304.81,"body":"harmony inside of me. It"},{"startTime":300.7,"endTime":304.81,"body":"created external results,"},{"startTime":304.87,"endTime":308.17,"body":"but left me feeling in"},{"startTime":304.87,"endTime":308.17,"body":"harmonic internally,"},{"startTime":308.68,"endTime":311.83,"body":"which again made me feel I'm not"},{"startTime":308.68,"endTime":311.83,"body":"enough, I'm stupid, I'm not worthy,"},{"startTime":311.83,"endTime":315.7,"body":"all these things. So"},{"startTime":311.83,"endTime":315.7,"body":"this identity drove me,"},{"startTime":315.76,"endTime":319.72,"body":"but it also hurt me at the"},{"startTime":315.76,"endTime":319.72,"body":"same time. And 10 years ago,"},{"startTime":319.725,"endTime":323.38,"body":"I started the journey of healing and"},{"startTime":319.725,"endTime":323.38,"body":"it's been an ongoing journey. Mm-hmm."},{"startTime":323.42,"endTime":325.34,"body":"\u003caffirmative\u003e, in no way am I still a,"},{"startTime":325.34,"endTime":329.14,"body":"a perfect human being and I'm a flawed"},{"startTime":325.34,"endTime":329.14,"body":"human being that makes mistakes all the"},{"startTime":329.145,"endTime":332.11,"body":"time. But over the last 10 years,"},{"startTime":332.17,"endTime":336.91,"body":"it's been an incredible journey of"},{"startTime":332.17,"endTime":336.91,"body":"awareness, reflection, responsibility,"},{"startTime":336.91,"endTime":340.03,"body":"and healing, which has given"},{"startTime":336.91,"endTime":340.03,"body":"me so much peace in my heart."},{"startTime":340.035,"endTime":342.64,"body":"I've never felt this much peace and calm."},{"startTime":343.21,"endTime":345.49,"body":"Now it doesn't mean that"},{"startTime":343.21,"endTime":345.49,"body":"there's not challenges,"},{"startTime":345.49,"endTime":347.62,"body":"stress and adversity in my life,"},{"startTime":348.31,"endTime":351.78,"body":"but I don't internalize it the way"},{"startTime":348.31,"endTime":351.78,"body":"I used to. Mm-hmm. \u003caffirmative\u003e."},{"startTime":352.06,"endTime":353.65,"body":"And 10 years ago,"},{"startTime":353.71,"endTime":358.28,"body":"I decided to create a"},{"startTime":353.71,"endTime":358.28,"body":"different identity with myself."},{"startTime":359.48,"endTime":363.41,"body":"And before I used to be, I was"},{"startTime":359.48,"endTime":363.41,"body":"a fun loving, pretty happy guy,"},{"startTime":364.16,"endTime":366.56,"body":"but there was a wound inside"},{"startTime":364.16,"endTime":366.56,"body":"of me, multiple wounds."},{"startTime":366.71,"endTime":369.8,"body":"And whenever those would get triggered,"},{"startTime":366.71,"endTime":369.8,"body":"someone would touch it. Boop,"},{"startTime":369.98,"endTime":372.8,"body":"someone would cut me off in"},{"startTime":369.98,"endTime":372.8,"body":"the street, I'd get angry,"},{"startTime":373.07,"endTime":376.94,"body":"someone would say something to me on"},{"startTime":373.07,"endTime":376.94,"body":"a basketball court, I'd react, uh,"},{"startTime":376.94,"endTime":379.61,"body":"you know, someone would get mad at"},{"startTime":376.94,"endTime":379.61,"body":"me or say something they didn't like."},{"startTime":379.97,"endTime":384.95,"body":"I'd shut down. So I would"},{"startTime":379.97,"endTime":384.95,"body":"get angry and frustrated."},{"startTime":385.73,"endTime":389.45,"body":"I would get in stages of, I"},{"startTime":385.73,"endTime":389.45,"body":"wouldn't call it depression,"},{"startTime":389.45,"endTime":394.16,"body":"but states of sitting in my apartment"},{"startTime":389.45,"endTime":394.16,"body":"for days not knowing what to do. Hmm."},{"startTime":394.22,"endTime":397.07,"body":"So I wasn't like depressed,"},{"startTime":394.22,"endTime":397.07,"body":"thinking I wanted to commit suicide,"},{"startTime":397.1,"endTime":401.75,"body":"but I was in depressed emotional"},{"startTime":397.1,"endTime":401.75,"body":"states where I was just like,"},{"startTime":401.75,"endTime":403.79,"body":"what am I doing? Mm-hmm."},{"startTime":401.75,"endTime":403.79,"body":"\u003caffirmative\u003e and beating myself up."},{"startTime":404.42,"endTime":407.24,"body":"And I also would tell myself all"},{"startTime":404.42,"endTime":407.24,"body":"the time, man, you're such an idiot."},{"startTime":407.27,"endTime":410.06,"body":"You're so stupid. You're not"},{"startTime":407.27,"endTime":410.06,"body":"smart. You're just a dummy."},{"startTime":410.27,"endTime":414.5,"body":"I would say these things internally"},{"startTime":410.27,"endTime":414.5,"body":"and externally. So my identity,"},{"startTime":414.5,"endTime":418.73,"body":"based on my own narrative of my own"},{"startTime":414.5,"endTime":418.73,"body":"story, was causing a lot of suffering."},{"startTime":419.21,"endTime":420.14,"body":"10 years ago,"},{"startTime":420.145,"endTime":424.88,"body":"I decided to break that"},{"startTime":420.145,"endTime":424.88,"body":"identity belief within myself by"},{"startTime":424.88,"endTime":428.38,"body":"literally creating a"},{"startTime":424.88,"endTime":428.38,"body":"contract with myself. Mm-hmm."},{"startTime":428.42,"endTime":433.34,"body":"\u003caffirmative\u003e a written contract"},{"startTime":428.42,"endTime":433.34,"body":"where I wrote down a new identity and"},{"startTime":433.34,"endTime":436.76,"body":"signed it. I had this framed"},{"startTime":433.34,"endTime":436.76,"body":"on my wall for a long time,"},{"startTime":437.12,"endTime":441.62,"body":"and the contract is still the same"},{"startTime":437.12,"endTime":441.62,"body":"today. Instead of being angry,"},{"startTime":441.65,"endTime":445.4,"body":"frustrated, depressed states and dumb,"},{"startTime":445.88,"endTime":448.94,"body":"I became a loving, passionate, wise man."},{"startTime":449.27,"endTime":452.81,"body":"And that is my identity today."},{"startTime":449.27,"endTime":452.81,"body":"Mm. Whenever I feel off,"},{"startTime":452.81,"endTime":455.9,"body":"whenever I feel frustrated, whenever I"},{"startTime":452.81,"endTime":455.9,"body":"feel like, uh, I'm having an off day,"},{"startTime":456.32,"endTime":460.94,"body":"I lean back into my own personal"},{"startTime":456.32,"endTime":460.94,"body":"contract. I am a loving,"},{"startTime":461.0,"endTime":462.56,"body":"passionate, wise man."},{"startTime":463.1,"endTime":467.45,"body":"And I had to create a contract that"},{"startTime":463.1,"endTime":467.45,"body":"I could actually believe, not like,"},{"startTime":467.54,"endTime":470.33,"body":"you know, something that"},{"startTime":467.54,"endTime":470.33,"body":"was completely false,"},{"startTime":471.02,"endTime":472.16,"body":"because then I wanna be able to believe,"},{"startTime":472.16,"endTime":475.18,"body":"and I think that's fake and it's a"},{"startTime":472.16,"endTime":475.18,"body":"false identity. Mm-hmm. \u003caffirmative\u003e."},{"startTime":475.19,"endTime":479.9,"body":"So we have to create an authentic"},{"startTime":475.19,"endTime":479.9,"body":"integris congruent identity"},{"startTime":479.99,"endTime":484.76,"body":"with self first. And I knew I was loving,"},{"startTime":479.99,"endTime":484.76,"body":"but I just had to let go of the anger."},{"startTime":485.03,"endTime":486.29,"body":"I knew I was passionate,"},{"startTime":486.56,"endTime":489.95,"body":"but I had to let go of the mental stress"},{"startTime":486.56,"endTime":489.95,"body":"and depression that I would cause that"},{"startTime":489.95,"endTime":494.21,"body":"would cause me to be less passionate at"},{"startTime":489.95,"endTime":494.21,"body":"times. And I didn't believe I was smart."},{"startTime":494.33,"endTime":498.56,"body":"So I couldn't put the word smart in my"},{"startTime":494.33,"endTime":498.56,"body":"contract, but I did believe I was wise."},{"startTime":499.16,"endTime":501.05,"body":"I believe I had a lot of"},{"startTime":499.16,"endTime":501.05,"body":"wisdom and experience."},{"startTime":501.05,"endTime":503.39,"body":"I had gone through a lot of"},{"startTime":501.05,"endTime":503.39,"body":"adversity, suffering. He said,"},{"startTime":1573.31,"endTime":1575.62,"body":"you need to go every week"},{"startTime":1573.31,"endTime":1575.62,"body":"for a year to Toastmasters,"},{"startTime":1575.62,"endTime":1578.77,"body":"which the public speaking"},{"startTime":1575.62,"endTime":1578.77,"body":"course, and you need to fail."},{"startTime":1578.98,"endTime":1582.85,"body":"You need to fail and experience the"},{"startTime":1578.98,"endTime":1582.85,"body":"humiliation of what it feels like."},{"startTime":1582.97,"endTime":1586.57,"body":"And then you need to"},{"startTime":1582.97,"endTime":1586.57,"body":"realize you're still alive,"},{"startTime":1586.75,"endTime":1590.47,"body":"you're still o you're okay. It felt like a lifetime."},{"startTime":1613.31,"endTime":1614.68,"body":"And I wrote out and I,"},{"startTime":1614.68,"endTime":1619.67,"body":"and I got behind a podium and I spoke"},{"startTime":1614.68,"endTime":1619.67,"body":"and I didn't look up one time at the"},{"startTime":1619.67,"endTime":1623.3,"body":"crowd of about 20 people."},{"startTime":1619.67,"endTime":1623.3,"body":"Now this is safe space,"},{"startTime":1623.3,"endTime":1625.79,"body":"this is like an environment where you're"},{"startTime":1623.3,"endTime":1625.79,"body":"supposed to give good feedback and"},{"startTime":1625.79,"endTime":1628.55,"body":"people are there to help you. It's"},{"startTime":1625.79,"endTime":1628.55,"body":"not like they're gonna laugh at you."},{"startTime":1628.64,"endTime":1632.81,"body":"How old are you at this time?"},{"startTime":1628.64,"endTime":1632.81,"body":"23. Okay. 24. Okay. Okay Lewis,"},{"startTime":1694.55,"endTime":1697.79,"body":"great job again. Um, you, you"},{"startTime":1694.55,"endTime":1697.79,"body":"had a great story in there."},{"startTime":1697.94,"endTime":1702.14,"body":"Just make sure to add a couple pauses"},{"startTime":1697.94,"endTime":1702.14,"body":"cuz you just went really fast. And now today speaking,"},{"startTime":1747.5,"endTime":1750.65,"body":"I'm not the best in the world, but"},{"startTime":1747.5,"endTime":1750.65,"body":"it's become one of my superpowers."},{"startTime":1751.13,"endTime":1754.88,"body":"Whereas before is the thing that made"},{"startTime":1751.13,"endTime":1754.88,"body":"me feel more, the most powerless."},{"startTime":1755.57,"endTime":1760.1,"body":"I faced the fear by going all in on"},{"startTime":1755.57,"endTime":1760.1,"body":"it until it disappeared and now it's a"},{"startTime":1760.105,"endTime":1763.25,"body":"superpower. So I did"},{"startTime":1760.105,"endTime":1763.25,"body":"that one by one by one."},{"startTime":1763.25,"endTime":1766.79,"body":"I had a lot of fears and I just went down"},{"startTime":1763.25,"endTime":1766.79,"body":"the list and started doing this. Okay,"},{"startTime":1766.79,"endTime":1770.15,"body":"salsa dancing, this is terrifying"},{"startTime":1766.79,"endTime":1770.15,"body":"for me. I did the same thing."},{"startTime":1770.15,"endTime":1774.14,"body":"I went every week for a year and"},{"startTime":1770.15,"endTime":1774.14,"body":"threw myself into humiliation."},{"startTime":1774.59,"endTime":1776.24,"body":"And I realized, okay,"},{"startTime":1774.59,"endTime":1776.24,"body":"at the end of the day,"},{"startTime":1776.24,"endTime":1779.57,"body":"maybe there are some people laughing at"},{"startTime":1776.24,"endTime":1779.57,"body":"me, maybe this is very uncomfortable."},{"startTime":1779.93,"endTime":1784.59,"body":"Maybe I do stand out. And the more"},{"startTime":1779.93,"endTime":1784.59,"body":"I show up and the better I get,"},{"startTime":1784.77,"endTime":1789.33,"body":"the more confident I become. Not just"},{"startTime":1784.77,"endTime":1789.33,"body":"in this area of my life, but every area."},{"startTime":1789.6,"endTime":1793.11,"body":"Because when you overcome one thing that's"},{"startTime":1789.6,"endTime":1793.11,"body":"a, a fear of yours that cripples you,"},{"startTime":1793.38,"endTime":1794.91,"body":"that causes you to doubt yourself,"},{"startTime":1795.33,"endTime":1800.01,"body":"it expands your ability to be confident"},{"startTime":1795.33,"endTime":1800.01,"body":"in every other area of life. And everyone was like, Lewis,"},{"startTime":1813.33,"endTime":1817.14,"body":"how are you growing so fast? I was"},{"startTime":1813.33,"endTime":1817.14,"body":"like, I'm just not afraid of failure."},{"startTime":1817.68,"endTime":1821.61,"body":"I'm not afraid of it. And"},{"startTime":1817.68,"endTime":1821.61,"body":"I was afraid of judgment,"},{"startTime":1821.91,"endTime":1825.81,"body":"but the fear of failure did not hold"},{"startTime":1821.91,"endTime":1825.81,"body":"me back from taking action. Now,"},{"startTime":1826.35,"endTime":1830.85,"body":"I still would get reactive when people"},{"startTime":1826.35,"endTime":1830.85,"body":"were critical or would leave nasty"},{"startTime":1830.855,"endTime":1833.7,"body":"comments online or all these"},{"startTime":1830.855,"endTime":1833.7,"body":"things. I still had that wound,"},{"startTime":1834.33,"endTime":1836.34,"body":"but I was driven to succeed."},{"startTime":1837.99,"endTime":1841.65,"body":"And so I wasn't afraid of failure or"},{"startTime":1837.99,"endTime":1841.65,"body":"success, but it was the fear of judgment,"},{"startTime":1841.74,"endTime":1844.08,"body":"which was making me feel not good inside."},{"startTime":1844.38,"endTime":1848.46,"body":"Most people are afraid of failure"},{"startTime":1844.38,"endTime":1848.46,"body":"and success.
