Speaker 2We've all been there. BU side-eye in someone else's grid for caption, inspiration, mapping out a content strategy by jotting down a few ideas, crumbling up the paper, and then asking your toddler to pick a hand in hand or dramatically getting down on bended knee like boys to men and asking the algorithm gods , why? Why do you hate me so much? Is it a bad time to mention all the algorithm changes right now? Okay. Yeah. Thought so. So far you've managed to pack, man. You're ever dwindling sanity and valuable time to no avail. No new prospects, no new clients. And this sales needle hasn't budged. One single inch. Am I catching your attention right about now, booboo, do you feel like known and seen in this moment? Listen, I totally get it. You got mouths to feed student loans to pay off. Plus you've been eyeing that new shake weight . Come on baby. You can . You know you dream big, right? The shake weight. Anybody, please tell me somebody who remembers the shake weight. I mean, I, there are times where it's like late at night and I'm flipping to the television and I'm like, you know what I need, I need a head scratcher. I definitely need like that rock garden collection and I need a shake wake. Okay. And yeah, you've heard about those crazy Instagram success stories [inaudible] late at night flipping through the TV and you think to yourself, cool. So glad that worked for them. Truly like I should probably insert like a golf clap here. You lack the time and patience to keep learning and testing all those fancy smancy Instagram tactics. Especially when you feel like, Hey Jasmine, nothing's working for me. You need a prescription for practical actions and you need results like three days ago. No, how about you need it like five days ago. I know you're short on time. So here's the scoop buttercup. There's a little known difference between being on Instagram and using Instagram and that difference separates those who make Benjamins and it separates them from those who will cry into their Ben and Jerry's because it's just not fair. Today , I'm going to teach you the proven social curator, H I C caption formula to get more eyes on your business and drive engagement to your profile. So H I C stands for hook insights, call to action. So let's break down each of these elements right now. Let's dive in. So let's start off with the hook. We all want to have real conversations on Instagram. So what's stopping us? The answer is that our posts actually have to get seen and read. Now you may be worried about why people aren't engaging with your post , but the problem may be that they're not reaching the point of the post where you ask them to engage. The solution is to start each of your posts with a hook. And I'm using Instagram as a platform of choice, but the hook works for copy on Facebook and on LinkedIn and even works on blog posts. So here are top three hooks that will get readers to not only stop scrolling, but actually click on that read more button. Example number one, identify a specific audience. So readers that self qualify, like they know that you're speaking directly to them, those people are more likely to engage. I don't want you making it harder than it needs to be. So who are you trying to talk to the minute you figure this out, speak their language, communicate directly to them as if you were having a face to face conversation rather than through a screen. This will have like this megaphone effect without like that ear ringing in, you know , the aftermath of it. So as an example, if I was a wedding photographer, I might start off by identifying my specific audience as calling all brides. If I was a hairstylist and I focused on Bali lodge , I don't even know if that's how you say it [inaudible] somebody correct me. But I think it's Baliok if I was, let's just say Andre , cause I could say that if I was really focused on lightening hair and it's like calling all girls who want blonde Baliok self, identifying a specific audience that if I wanted Baliok if I was a bride then I might be more likely to click on the read more. Second way to drive a hook is what I call a juicy share. Can I share a secret with you? You'll never believe what I'm about to confess. I've never admitted this before. Okay. Do you see what I just did right now admitted you are hooked by statements. Oh, like what I just said and you've probably can't help but like want to be like what is she talking about? What I just did in an audio version is what I want you to do in a text version as you write copy for your posts. So we have all been kind of like hooked in a way like, Ooh , what is , what is he going to say next? What is she going to say next? And that's because these, these types of conversations like these kind of like hooks, they actually work. These juicy shares are exactly that juicy. They're intriguing, mysterious in scroll stopping. They make readers want to know the answer or click on the read more on the caption to find out your secret. That's a great way to drive them to actually read the rest of the post. And the third way to hook an audience or your readers on Instagram is to ask an engaging. Now, often we put so much time and energy into creating an intriguing caption that we may forget about the most important aspect of social media engagement without engagement. Does it even really matter if someone reads your caption or not? Like I shouldn't . I feel like, should I say that again? Like if we aren't getting engagement, it doesn't matter if they're reading or not because the engagement is the thing that drives more people to see it. Remember even if somebody just writes a simple yes or no or just drops an emoji, this is a beginning of a powerful two way conversation. The dialogue doesn't have to end there. You just don't have to like, like their comment. You can respond in Greeley connect. I always like to use the kiss method when asking questions. Keep it short and sweet. Ah , you thought I was going somewhere else with that, didn't you? No friends. No. Keep it short and sweet. Make it really easy for someone to leave a response in the comments asking an engaging question . Solicit an easy answer, which drives engagement and builds relationship and that's like a basically a triple whammy. So let's go into this embryo. A very simple example. Oftentimes I see people asking questions that require a very long response. Let's stay away from those. For now. Right now, things that I've seen work really well are what I call a quiz. I will say like during Christmas I would say, how would you describe your Christmas behavior? AE your buddy, the elf B. You're the Grinch who stole Christmas or see you're as busy as Santa is elf , making sure everybody has gifts and most of the time people were just leaving like a or C and then it was up to me to give eight comment more than four words to really start driving that engagement in teaching them how I want to engage with them in the future. Y'all trust me, this works. What we just went through was the H of the H I C formula and the H was for the hook. Now we're going to dive into the eye and that's insights. Every great caption serves your followers with what they need to hear, such as a helpful tutorial or perhaps the why behind what it is that you do or motivation to tackle the day. I like to use my quick caption quiz to make sure the content I'm creating is my great connective way to really reach an ideal customer. Like I need to resonate with them and if you're stuck, I want you to ask yourself the following three questions. These, these, this is part of my quick caption quiz number one, am I giving people a reason or a way to respond? Like am I just making a statement like pizza is my favorite one . What do I say to that? I could say I'm enjoying a pizza with pepperoni and sardines. What's your favorite toppings? Right, because I asked a question at the end. It's giving people a way to connect with me and then like FYI, I don't eat pepperoni or sardines. I'm a vegetarian that just came to me. I call it divine podcast inspiration. Okay. Number two, does it explain who I am or what I do like legitimately. Sometimes I read captions and I'm like, yo, bro, I have no idea what this even means. Our goal is not to have captions that are complicated. Our goal is to use our captions to really shed light on who we are as business owners. And number three, would my dream customer find it interesting, right? Like those three questions, am I giving a way for people to respond AKA engagement? Does it explain who I am or what I do? And number three, would my dream customer find it interesting? These are all under the category of eye for insights. Now let's get to the final part of the H I C formula in that C call to action. You never want to post a valuable caption on social media without giving your followers a chance to connect with you further. Either by investing your services or simply liking or commenting on your post, here are a few call to actions CTS that you can use to spark inspiration on your next post. Yo , I'm here. I'm giving you the goods. Number one, double tap. If you can relate, you're an introvert. You like pepperoni and sardine pizza. These are all like when you hear me pause, it's like fill in the blank. Number two, tell me, should I splurge on a pair of AirPods? What are your weekend plans? Number three, send me a DM to learn more. That call to action was messaged me. Number four, drop an emoji below. If you're excited about the new season of American idol that represents your mood today, I'm asking people to do something specific with an emoji. Another one tag. A friend who inspires you is constantly making you laugh. Another one, want to learn more. Check out the link in my bio. That call to action was click on my bio. Lastly, send some love in the comments if you agree. So what we just went through are seven ways to drive a CTA. That means you're asking people for engagement. That was the HIC formula. Hook insights, call to action. So buttercup, I have just given you the exact strategy to posting captions that stop someone's scroll and then they read all the way down to the bottom and that they drive engagement. And more importantly, you know that engagement leads to sales for your business. I love sharing everything I know about business, social media, Mexican food. Okay. All right . Maybe not that last one, but let me tell you, I can make a mean margarita and much to the chagrin of my husband, I cannot make flour tortillas the way his mother does, but you want to know what I'm here for it because the more mercury is you drink, the better my food tastes.
