Hi there. And welcome back to the Jasmine star show. Today we're talking about the five barriers that are quite possibly stopping you from pursuing your dreams. I mean, wow, how about that? We're hitting the ground running. That's right booboo. I'm going to lovingly call you out because I believe you've been made to do more. So let's dive in to the five barriers that might be stopping you from pursuing your dreams. And I got to say a little something right here real quick. I am talking about these five barriers because I've faced them and occasionally every once in a while still face them. I've been known to say that I teach the things I need to learn. So this is me admitting to you that I have struggled and on days occasionally still struggled a little bit this. So I'm making a podcast that on those dark days when I'm just like, I'm not sure if I could push through. I'm gonna listen to this. So this is made from my heart to yours. All right ? Barrier number one, we ask ourselves, who am I to do this? Who am I to become a photographer? Who am I to create an online course? Who am I to sell jewelry? Who am I to be on nanny? Who am I to be a professor? Who am I to be an accountant? Who am I to start a business? And whenever you ask yourself that, please hear me on your shoulder like Jimminy cricket. Please hear me like mr Miyagi. Please hear me as somebody on your path, a Latina Yoda who says, who are you not to share the thing that you're passionate about? Who are you not to be a graphic designer? Who are you not to be a realtor? Who are you not to be an influencer, a fitness professional? Who are you not to sell shampoo? Who are you not decel essential oils. You look to others and say they can. And every time you point there are fingers pointing back at you saying you should, but the only person who is upping you is you. Please do not ask, who am I to do this? Please ask yourself, who am I not to share the thing that I am passionate about. The second barrier that sometimes stops us from pursuing our dreams is what if I get found out? Right? So we like comfort zones. We feel like the more we position ourselves as an authority, the more we open ourselves to being found out that we aren't qualified enough, smart enough, educated enough, whatever it is that you think you're not enough of. So then all of a sudden we live in this fear of being discovered. Like somebody's going to find out that I don't why that you don't what BU that you don't have all of the answers 100% of the time. Huh? Welcome to the club. I don't know who does baby boo . The only person who has the power to stop you from doing the thing you want to do by quote unquote getting found out is you. If you are the one to call yourself out on the weaknesses, then no one could say anything. You haven't said yourself four years. I would walk on a stage and be so consumed with fear that I did not belong on that stage. There were other people in that room who had more, had done more or more talented, were more successful, had more credibility, and so I lived in this fear that somebody was going to stand out and say, you fraud, sit down, do the work. I was so afraid of that. And you want to know the thing that I proudly say, honest stay . I say I don't know what I'm doing, but I'm doing it anyway. You might have a question for me and I might not have the answer. You might have been in the game longer than me, no more than me have more than me do more than me and yet I find myself here. So while I might not have all the answers, my promise to you is that I remain committed to finding the answer and following up. If I get to that point. The minute you come out and say you ain't all that, but you're self aware and humble enough to know that you will work towards it and find it in honor them hot. Dang. Hey , nobody can say anything about that. The third barrier that's stopping many of us from pursuing dreams. You might tell yourself, well, it's all been done before. Okay, I'm going to be real. Everything has been done before everything. So if you take a second and you let that settle in, everything has been done before. Just say that. So there's no fear in it. Everything that you want to say or do or think or create has been made before. So if you just say that and you acknowledge, okay, I want you to think about three M's to empower you to stick out, even though it's been done before, right? Because I can create a podcast, make it stand on the stage. I can create a video. I could write a blog post, I could create a post and I can say X. And you could say, you know what? I really wanted to say X, but Jasmine already said it, baby boo. Somebody needs to hear from you in only the way you speak and you know how to connect. In fact, it's not about me and you. It's about me, you and 10,000 other people who want to say the same dang thing on the same dang day in the same thing, hour on the same dang minute. We all deserve the right to say it. So now let's work through, even if it has been said before, there are three M's to empower you to stick out. Number one, the message.

Okay ?

Even if I am saying something that somebody else has said before, somebody might need to hear it my way from me. That's the message. Then there's the messenger. That's the second M . now I could be saying something the way that somebody else has said it, but just in the way that I say it, right, because you could say X and that's your message and I could say X and that's my message, but the messenger is how somebody will receive it from. And the third M is the medium M one message M to messenger in three medium. Now the medium is the way that you share your message. It can be completely different because if you're talking about X and I'm talking about X and you're talking in your way and I'm talking about my weight , you might be really, really good at writing a blog post. You might be really, really, really good at creating something on LinkedIn. I might be better at creating a video. I might be better at creating a podcast. I might, you might be really great at doing something with a different medium than I am. So even if it has all been done before and it has all been said before, the way that we need to hear it just from you must come from you because your message as the messenger and the medium in which you present it needs to be out in the world. And the fourth barrier that is stopping somebody from pursuing their dreams is the thought. What are people going to think of me now? I got news for you, baby boo . You're not for everyone. There will always be people who don't like you and there will always be people who have an opinion of you. If you do the thing you want to do or if you don't do the thing you want to do, they're still going to have an opinion of you . So what are people gonna think of you? I don't know, but you're not in control of it because they're going to think about you something either way. So if you know that somebody's gonna think about you either way, why not follow your heart? People's opinions of you don't pay your bills. Happy clients do. So why not find the happy clients and not worry about what people are saying about you? You do you. I believe that your goal as a business owner is not to be liked by everybody. Your goal in life is to stand in your purpose and make this world a better place. If you are standing in your purpose and your aim is to make this place a better place and somebody else has an opinion about it, move on. Cover your ears and do the work. What people say, what they think about you, doesn't matter when you're standing in the light and in service of others. And the last barrier. Number five is when you ask yourself, will anybody listen to me? Hmm? Ain't that a thing ? The question is, if I put it out, if I write it, if I paint it, if I sing it by podcast it, if I film it, if I bake it, if I make it, will people listen? And I am here to tell you, people will listen. You just have to find them. So my question to you is, how hard will you work to find your tribe? Will you use Instagram hashtags? Will you find them on LinkedIn? Will you engage with them on Twitter? Are you willing to have the humility and the hutzpah to go live on Facebook? You as the messenger have the power to share your message in a way and in a medium they prefer. So will people listen to you? Yes. The question becomes how hard will you work to find them? So after this quick kick in the pants episode that I'm writing here, I hope you remember one thing. I don't want you to let somebody who stopped chasing their dreams talk you out of pursuing yours, continued to show up because the only person who could stop you from doing the thing you want to do is not your mom. It's not your partner. It's not your kids. It's not your neighbor. It's not your boss. It's not Sharon from 11th grade who said you would amount to nothing and all of a sudden you have her voice in the back of your mind as a soundtrack. Every time you put something out and it doesn't quite work, none of them will stop you. It's you like straight out. So if you decide that you will pursue this and become a success, you're right. And if you decide to stop where you are going to say, it's too much, I can't do this, and I was never destined for this, guess what? You're right. Which one are you going to choose? I would love as a hope work you through the decision to show up again and again and again believing that your success is a foregone conclusion.
