Inspiring Adventure by Vertebrate Publishing
Inspiring Adventure is the official podcast from Vertebrate Publishing and we hope that our episodes help inspire you to seek your own adventures. We want to connect all – young and old – with the outdoors and the positive impact it can have on well-being. We think it’s particularly important that young people get outside and explore the natural world. At Vertebrate Publishing we publish award winning books to inspire adventure. It’s our rule that the only books we publish are those that we’d want to read or use ourselves; beautiful books that stand the test of time and that you’ll be proud to have on your bookshelf for years to come. Everyone in the Vertebrate Publishing team are driven by their own passion for the outdoors, for exploration and for the natural world. Now we're sharing that passion with listeners as well as readers!

Ep 6 - Suzanna Swims ... wild in the Lake District
This is the podcast that connects you to the great outdoors through literature.
Episode 6
This week Rae is joined by open water and wild swimmer, Suzanna Cruickshank.
Suzanna moved to Cumbria in 2008 and soon caught the bug for swimming outdoors. In 2016 she set up Suzanna Swims to help others access wild places by immersing themselves in open water. Whether you want to dip your toe in a tarn, float down a river or swim across a lake – Suzanna is your woman!
Suzanna is currently putting the finishing touches to her book, Swimming Wild in the Lake District, in which she vividly describes her wild swimming experiences and brings the characteristics of each Lake - due out in April with pre-orders opening in the New Year.
Swimming Wild in the Lake District will follow the style of Scottish Island Bagging (featured in our very first episode) with stunning photography, practical information and overview maps to give you all you need for a cool dip (apart from the cossie!). It has plenty to offer anyone dipping their toe in this sport, but it isn't just for novices, it has plenty to offer for more experienced swimmers, including pointers towards tranquil hidden gems and the best pubs and cafes for the the much needed post-swim refreshment.
