- A skewed identity around God and yourself
- A skewed identity always leads you to an inflated view of self and deflated view of God.
- Every sin is a declaration: “I know more than God!” Or “I know better than God!”
- “I’m not really that bad and God isn’t really that good.”
- Sin
- Sin: disobedience to the commands of God
- Sin leads to shame.
- Shame: feeling the same way God does about your sin

- Adam tried to shift responsibility for his own sin. Jesus took on the responsibility for our sin.
- Adam came from the dust of the earth. Jesus rose from the dust of the earth.
- Adam’s sin brought us thorns. Jesus wore a crown of thorns.
- Adam sinned at a tree. Jesus bore our sins hanging from a tree.
- Adam died as a sinner. Jesus died for sinners.
- Adam was naked and felt no shame. Jesus was stripped nearly naked and bore our shame.
- Adam turned away from from God in the garden. Jesus turned to the Father in a garden.
