In Haggai chapter 2, a month has gone by since the people of God have begun their work on the house of God. As they begin their work, discouragement begins to set in. The temple falls drastically short of its former glory. The people do not have the same resources as they once had and the physical structure of the temple is not as awe-inspiring as it once was. But God speaks out into their discouragement with a word of encouragement. God points to the eternal unchanging promises to his people.
