Casino and Hotel Philadelphia is set to open to the public on Tuesday, Jan. 19. The casino floor will offer 2,100 slot machines and 121 table games. Capacity limits remain in place due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, at full capacity, this casino and hotel will employ more than 2,000 workers. The other casino property in the city is Rivers Casino Philadelphia. The biggest gambling venue in the entire state is Parx Casino, just outside the Philly city limits.
Las Vegas Breakfast Date Leads to Attempted Murder
Last October, Kimberly Johnson apparently tried to murder her date by burning down his apartment. The North Las Vegas women was upset that he only brought $5 to a morning breakfast date. An argument over the matter broke out inside Jerry’s Nugget Casino. It led to Ms. Johnson setting her date’s apartment on fire in an effort to burn him down. She has been charged with first-degree attempted arson and murder stemming from the incident. Her preliminary hearing at North Las Vegas Justice Court is set for Jan. 25. She may have been under the influence of crystal meth at the time.
Landing Casino in South Korea Reports $13 Million in Missing Funds
A shortfall of $13 million in cash was recently detected by Landing Casino on Jeju Island in South Korea. The main suspect in the theft is a female employee that remains missing from late December. A large portion of undetected funds ($8 million) was located in a casino VIP room safe. Cash was also recovered from the employee’s former residence. Local authorities are currently searching for a total of three suspects in the case. A Chinese national has been connected to the missing woman traveling overseas. A third suspect is believed to still be in South Korea.
