EGO-based relationships are not able to experience true unconditional love. For some that is comfortable because they are able to hide who they truly are. They are able to hide their deep wounds and live in a surface level reality. The twin flame journey exposes individuals true selves, which is why it is so triggering. The relationship presents itself as a mirror in front of you and you cannot hide in the shadows any longer. In many twin flame journeys, the twins experience separation and it is painful to entertain hope of a reunion.
