Show Notes

Jeff Fair is the author of The Great American Bear and his most recent book In Wild Trust, published in 2017, about the McNeil River brown-bear watching experience in SW Alaska. His first job out of University of New Hampshire in 1976 with a MS in Wildlife Ecology, was as a trapper on the InterGovernmental Grizzly Bear Study Team in Yellowstone.   40 years later, he spent parts of 5 summers in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem again, this time on a Common Loon study as advisor and field tech.  He spent many years doing fieldwork in AK and has made more than 20 visits to the Alaskan Arctic, most to the National Petroleum Reserve and has written articles in Audubon magazine about Yellow-billed Loons, his experience at the Reserve and about the Western Arctic Caribou herd, one of three herds living in the Reserve .  Sort of semi-retired, he still calls himself an Independent Field Biologist and Author.
