Could be, you know, reading something, listening to something. A lot of times this stuff comes up on a walk. Um, and I try to put it down on paper as a concept to make sense for you guys. And I thought it would be cool to try a short form version of the podcast that we do. Um and you guys can let me know what you think, where I give you guys the inspiration for what it was and we dig in a little bit deeper. So I feel like I had an interesting childhood being sort of put into multiple worlds. And I think it has served me extremely well in my professional life, in my adult life. And the inspiration for do it for them, don't do it for them, do it for yourself was from a podcast that I was listening to where they talked about how this particular person's IQ goes up 20 points because of their British accent. Potentially a little bit tongue-in-cheek, um, but I think sort of inspired me to think about, you know, growing up in a situation where I was around a lot of blue-collar people through the family business, through my extended family. And in terms of where I actually grew up, I grew up in, you know, Smallville, you know, pleasantville, whatever you want to call it, cul-de-sac, middle class to upper class. And in the place that I grew up, there was a lot of social currency around appearance and, you know, what church did you go to? And a lot of it over time revealed that there wasn't as much substance behind it. A lot of it was about keeping up appearances. Whereas, you know, the the people that I came across in, you know, sort of the other part of my world weren't really keeping up appearances and would really blow you away with how brilliant that they could be. And it sort of taught me not to judge people based on the way that they look or the way that they sound, but that goes in both directions, right? So it also taught me not to be super impressed by someone because of sort of that short-term interaction where, you know, maybe they have themselves presented in a certain way. And then it turns out that, you know, the the blue collar worker could, you know, run circles around them. And this obviously works conversely in both worlds, but I think it was a really powerful lesson. And then potentially the greatest in-gym guy on guy dig bro session comment that I ever heard was wish I was as fit as you look. And I don't think RJ or Dave would be listening to this podcast, but if you are, shout out. Uh really, really kind of funny comment. But it's the same thing when we think about it in the gym setting. We get wrapped up in body fat percentage, or if someone's genetics give them big traps or shoulders or, you know, abs or, you know, you want big legs, you don't want big legs. And we get so wrapped up in those things, and then we get wrapped up in, you know, the flavor of the month when it comes to what shoes you're supposed to be wearing and what gear you're supposed to have, and even what skills you're supposed to have. You know, I've fallen victim to this myself as an athlete, and I know that there are a lot of athletes out there who, you know, handstand push-ups, muscle-ups, handstand walking, all these things, you know, the time and effort has been put in there. And then the fitness isn't really there. That GPP element isn't really there. So what we see when we see the max set of muscle ups on Instagram and that physique that we would love to have, and all of these different things kind of come together, and then they don't end up even having a spot beside you in the arena, right? You work out with them and you realize, hey, you know, we're gonna do some misfit athletics bitch work here, and it's not gonna go so well for them. Um so the the moral of the story here is thinking about who we are doing things for, and it is such an easy trap and something where you're honestly not even really feeling it while you're doing it, but you're keeping up appearances to the point where you're sacrificing sacrificing a part of yourself. And over time, that just becomes such an issue, right? The person who is keeping up appearances that looks like they have all of their shit together, whether it be in their personal life, professional life, in the gym, and then in reality doesn't, has this dizzying level of ups and downs in their life, right? They get these honeymoon phase, you know, it could be a personal relationship, could be a job, could be whatever. And when it comes down to the substance, when that is revealed, they either have to do with the fact that they're not living up to the expectation that they've set with other people, or they just quit and start over and it becomes this endless cycle. Whereas figuring out who you want to be and what you want to achieve and why you want to achieve it and doing it for yourself takes you on this journey down this path where you're gonna go to places that you didn't think you're gonna be able to go and you're gonna develop an identity that you can actually be proud of. So when I'm thinking about this, when I'm thinking about going all the way back to the original point of like, can you have your IQ, you know, vaulted because of the way that you speak, or can you have it down in the dumps because of the way that you speak is kind of a metaphor for a lot of this. One of our best examples is the misfit community. And, you know, the program hoppers come and go, and there are people who come in and have some success and then see the shiny object and leave and have to come back. And then we have the mainstays. We have the people that are, you know, in the telegram and following the program and just getting after it. And those are the people that see the success. And those are the people who sort of understand who they are, and those are the people who, when we go to training camps and I get to communicate with them, we can dig a little bit deeper again because there is substance, because I'm not arriving with that shell on that is this is who I think you want me to be as a person, as an athlete, etc. We want you guys to show up and come to us and be part of the community as yourself.
