The Bible Speaks to You: Think, Pray, Love like Jesus
Have you ever poured out your heart, almost begging God to solve a problem, but it doesn’t feel like your prayer is ever answered? You wonder if there’s a better way to pray you don’t know about. Then some days, you really connect with God in prayer and it just makes you want to be closer to Him?
Each week The Bible Speaks to You Podcast helps you rediscover the original Christianity of Jesus. Host James Early, Bible teacher and speaker, and an occasional guest dig deep into how to think, pray, and love like Jesus. And how to experience more of Jesus’s promise that “the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

357 – How do you explain God's wrath in the Bible?
Have you ever read some of those passages in the Old Testament where the text basically says God told the Children of Israel to kill all the inhabitants of Canaan, or other enemies, including the women and children, even babies?
But in the New Testament, Jesus brings a very different perspective to dealing with your enemies. Instead of killing them, or praying for God to kill them, Jesus says to love and bless your enemies.
What’s going on here? How can you reconcile the way God is described in the Old Testament with the way He’s described in the New Testament?
In this week's episode:
- The dichotomy between the Old and New Testaments view of God
- Your concept of God will affect the way you deal with the idea of God's wrath
- The Old Testament condones and encourages killing your enemies
- Jesus commands us to love our enemies
- Does God change His ways or did Jesus change the way see God?
If you want to be more like Jesus, then you need to look at the Old Testament through the lens of Christ to have a clear idea of who God is and how He destroys evil.
