Speaker 1:

Hi all Chelsea here. I just wanted to pop in at the top of the show to introduce our very first live show that we recorded at our very first Street Spirit Festival that we put on this past July 16th. It was definitely a fun experience, a little bit scary, but we still want to thank everyone for coming out. It was amazing. So, without further ado, let's get to the show.

Speaker 3:

For the one, well, for the two, and the only for the two and the only. Chelsea and Pamela from the Drum Find podcast.

Speaker 1:

Well, hello everybody. Hello, this is amazing. First of all, can I just give it up to Fiona over here, probably the best MC money could buy. Oh yeah, thank you guys, all for coming. This is absolutely incredible. But first I should say I'm, my name is Chelsea and Pamela, and this is the Drum Find podcast, the podcast where we talk about all things. Whiskey, yeah, and on today's episode we decided to do a whiskey festival. So, yeah, that's, that's a good time.

Speaker 4:

We decided your live podcast. We've never done one before, so that's exciting. Yeah, slightly terrifying.

Speaker 1:

But why did we decide to do this Pam Like? Why are we doing the Street Spirit Festival?

Speaker 4:

That's a loaded question, but do you know, chelsea and I had a chat even just about when we started the podcast three years ago? We sat in a pub, really shape of an, everything it's a hilltop it's a hilltop, yeah, but it's back, it's open again, it's back and the hilltop and we're like we got to do something together, like we should do something. Like how do we start a band? We almost started a band, but then we don't.

Speaker 1:

We don't play me instrument. Well, you do. I'm just doing a very poor thing. I do, I know, did. I try to start a band with you too.

Speaker 4:

Hi, I feel cheated on you. Sorry, sorry. So well, we found this instead and it worked out, but one of our goals right at the start was, you know, like whiskey festivals are fun but I just don't really feel like I love them, like they could be. There could be more fun elements to it and as a Scottish person at whiskey festivals in Canada, I kind of felt like they were a bit cringe. Sorry, sorry to say that, but I don't want to see Highland Dancing every time someone has a whiskey.

Speaker 4:

No offense. No offense Because Highland Dancing is great, but yeah. So that's why we were like, let's do something fun, let's have some entertainment, let's, you know, plug ourselves and get a statement.

Speaker 1:

And let's do something light-hearted and like just easy to digest and let's include just like let's. The amount of people here, the diversity of people here is amazing.

Speaker 4:

It's like it's great, it blew my mind. It blew my mind.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and also just I mean like we're not only do we have amazing international brands that are supporting us, but we have some amazing local distilleries that came by as well, so it's just this like beautiful combination of all these things. And so, and you wonderful people, for showing up today Like you don't know how much we appreciate you all here today, so thank you.

Speaker 4:

Thank you so much. Yes, and we've had some really beautiful comments from people that have, like, almost made us cry today, like there was a lovely lady came up to me and said you know, I've been into whiskey for 20 odd years and I've been so, like, kind of scared to go to a whiskey tasting and never wanted to go, but this has made me feel like so approachable and that's what we're all about.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, so today. So we are doing it's. You know, we're going to make this a little casual. We're not going to do like a big intensive, educational like breakdown on like independent bottling or something today.

Speaker 4:

We're just going to do season two, episode four yeah, Actually I don't know if that's true.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but but we we're going to. We're going to do a little, a little kind of Q and A, but because you guys, the Emmett and whiskey community, is so amazing, we want to include you guys as well. So we have a bunch of questions that were asked in this terrifying jar. Yeah, I think it's got to be haunted for sure. What is that?

Speaker 4:

Is that like haunti dumtie?

Speaker 1:

I don't know, it's not, it's a hundred percent haunted. I think that's haunti dumtie.

Speaker 3:

That is wonderful Well it's haunted.

Speaker 1:

Oops, what's that we can have?

Speaker 4:

a little bit of a red color.

Speaker 1:

Oh, then we'd love it Exactly. So we have a bunch of questions, so I hope you all are okay. Like we might want to pick on a few of you, we might want you to come sit with us and answer a couple questions with us, because this is going to be a group activity.

Speaker 4:

But on the crispy couch. That's for you, paine, ethan, my garden.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but I believe we have first thing.

Speaker 4:

Well, we want Jamie.

Speaker 1:

We want Jamie.

Speaker 4:

Jamie, jamie, jamie, jamie Jamie.

Speaker 1:

Because she, you know I don't have to do any work because she could do all the talking Come on sit down.

Speaker 4:

I'm trying to drink. Yes, I have a glass. I'm actually with Lola Glade, in fact. Can I have that one? Yeah?

Speaker 7:

Wow, does that work Mic check.

Speaker 6:

I think, I need to do a little yeah, yeah, oh, back on the mic again.

Speaker 4:

Yep, did everyone see Jamie's presentation earlier? What's happening? Amazing, thank you guys. Thank you guys. Is still ever at XFITCH, oh this name?

Speaker 7:

I know this name. You can follow him on Instagram. He needs to start making me some money is what needs to happen.

Speaker 1:

Oh, tech, tech Fiona here. Thank you, fiona, thank you Thank you there you go, you're welcome.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, she's so good at this, she's still a little funny.

Speaker 4:

She's still a little funny.

Speaker 7:

We need that one. Oh my God. Oh, I know, we do. There's one over here. Okay, I do have that Are we good, I'm, so loud I'm shocked that I even need a microphone.

Speaker 4:

I feel like I'd like to open up, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Is someone got this for us?

Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah, okay, I'm going to be a national. I'll hold these. I'll hold these.

Speaker 1:

Jamie. Okay, so we start. We're going to start with the first question from the haunted jar. Pamela, where did you put the things?

Speaker 4:

Well, I actually have some questions for Jamie, for us, oh, oh, okay, before we nature into the spiky jar All right. I just want to show how you're enjoying the Facebook, Jamie. Oh my God.

Speaker 7:

I'm having so much fun. I honestly I keep telling people like I'm just thrilled to be here and to see things being done just a little bit differently. I think you know you guys are pushing the envelope in terms of, like, what a whiskey festival looks like. I'm 100% a part of that, because I really want to ride on those coattails. Like I feel like it's so nice to have that's what it is for the draft lawyer, that's right. That's right, and it feels like that guy, it's like a real sense of community here, like. So this has been such a great, great time and thank you for reaching out and let's do it again. Okay, oh, yes, yes.

Speaker 4:

Well, I have a background actually on that. I wrote the proposal for this festival and was like I just need some advice on it. I'm going to send it to my lovely friend. Jamie, just to see if she has any edits or anything like that or anything she thinks I should change. And she didn't make any changes. She just sent it to her boss and then wrote back saying we'll take the platinum sponsor. And we were like, don't be, I guess it's not this.

Speaker 7:

Whatever they do, I want to be a part of it.

Speaker 4:

Yes, so we were so happy and you, you know what it says, so thank you so much, because you're really the reason that this got kick started, so thanks.

Speaker 7:

Jamie, I really appreciate that. Did you ever?

Speaker 1:

know that you were mine. Anyway, sorry Please keep going.

Speaker 7:

Please keep going, dram fight is for the draft fight.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that guy, I can't, I can't, I can't, I just all you are just shadows, so I don't know who's talking.

Speaker 4:

I know I can't see. I know I love it. It's great. It's great have you here's another question have you ever opened for a?

Speaker 7:

drag queen. Oh yeah, never, not once, never. And I was so happy Dram fight is for the draft fight. It was nice Like I feel like it's hard to like open for a drag queen and so like because it's so much more glamorous than like I'm a little sweaty up here and stuff.

Speaker 4:

So like it was nice to have a little glamour on the stage after me so it was great and the newest paper was meeting her color. She was in yellow and pink.

Speaker 7:

See, it's the attention to detail. It's the attention to detail.

Speaker 1:

I think it's harder to follow a drag queen.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, this is for Rachel. Yeah, so this is low energy You're doing great, we're trying our best.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I think we're ready.

Speaker 6:

Let's get into these queries.

Speaker 1:

So um where are they?

Speaker 7:

Oh, they're on the jar. You've got everyone's got questions. Yeah, I put one in there too.

Speaker 4:

Did you? Yeah, I did.

Speaker 1:

Oh, okay. So this first question. I don't know who wrote it, but thank you for writing it. What, in your opinion, is the biggest influence on your love of whiskey? Who's going first?

Speaker 4:

Me yes, no, jamie, jamie that's my question. It's literally my question.

Speaker 1:

I wrote that no, I'm not even kidding you, like you literally picked my question and you have to answer it.

Speaker 7:

Oh, now I've really done it Medicine piece bitter.

Speaker 7:

Um, honestly, I really do think it's that sense of community Like for me, like I learned so much every time I come to a whiskey festival, and not just from ambassadors or distillers or blenders that are there, Like it's from the community who you sort of connect with throughout. You know, I'm lucky enough I get to go all across Canada and I see so many familiar faces all over and I think that for me has been like the best sort of like most invigorating impact on my whiskey like journey for sure. The community.

Speaker 4:

You guys, yeah, you guys. You guys, and the Edmonton whiskey community I'm sorry, top, they're out there, tip, top, they're amazing. So many of them came out to support us tonight as well. Yeah, she's been amazing.

Speaker 1:

Kent and Cheryl. Kent and Cheryl. Where are you, you guys, one of these days, oh there, oh, my god, there are the girls I saw off. Yes, yeah, one of these days I'm going to go to the one of the fires, I promise, if anyone knows anything I've been.

Speaker 1:

I've been, yeah, I'll be there one day. I think my answer would have to be the same. I think it's the community, but I also love the history and even the science behind it and the fact when you have a, like a 20 year old whiskey, the fact that it's it took at least 20 years and it traveled thousands of miles to get right in front of you and it's. There's nothing kind of romantic about that. You know what I mean, and there's not many things to really like be romantic about these days, so why not indulge in? You know, an ex-muski?

Speaker 4:

That's nice. Yeah, right, both good answers, both great, both great answers, thank you. I honestly like to see what like sustainability and I should have something followed, and I like to see what people are like kind of changing things up and when people are kind of going against the gradient and something about new always came to light. Yep, yes, my interest a little bit, but, yeah, community is number one. Obviously you guys Love that Awesome. Yeah, you guys. What a great question. Yeah great.

Speaker 7:

My god, jamie, thanks for that. Okay, so random that you know that one. So weird.

Speaker 1:

Okay, we're going to head to question number two, but this time we're. We got to. We got to call up some any volunteers? Who wants to come up and sit on the couch with us?

Speaker 7:

Getting the hot seat now that guy.

Speaker 1:

Oh my god, come up here, jamie, give a round of applause for Jamie one more time. Jamie, jamie, jamie, jamie, jamie, jamie. This might I?

Speaker 4:

think this might be trouble, come here. Okay, there's, probably there might be. Oh, watch, okay, tell us your name and where you came from.

Speaker 2:

My name is Jeff Cummings and I'm a huge fan of your podcast.

Speaker 1:

Oh, thank god, stop it, I love it.

Speaker 2:

Huge fan.

Speaker 1:

Oh, thank you.

Speaker 2:

So I you know what. I lived in Edmonton for like 10 years. I love my cigars. What's the best whiskey to have with a cigar in this summer in an Edmonton summer?

Speaker 4:

I don't, I don't like smoking yeah.

Speaker 1:

And I don't. I mean, there's the Delmar Cigar mode, so can that answer, sorry?

Speaker 4:

I was going to ask you a question you don't ask the question sir.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, wait, wait, that's what. I was going to say Anyone have an answer to that? What do you think? What do you? What would you care?

Speaker 4:

Smoke purse.

Speaker 1:

What do you think? Eagle rare? Oh, eagle rare.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, there you go, we'll take it.

Speaker 1:

We'll take it Was that Jen.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, it was Jen Dark sky Jen.

Speaker 2:

See, here's the thing. I love my winter whiskeys, so like linfidic 12 year old. But what do I want to do in the summer in Edmonton with an easygoing whiskey, with a cigar?

Speaker 4:

I don't know, is this a jewel?

Speaker 3:

I feel like I said this is my punchline here.

Speaker 4:

Okay, here's your.

Speaker 1:

here's your real question, jeff Ready here's the question from the haunted jar what's your favorite scotch cocktail? Easy, I heard someone say. I'm going to say mine.

Speaker 2:

Old fashioned.

Speaker 1:

Old fashioned yes.

Speaker 4:

With a cigar. With a cigar.

Speaker 1:

Someone said mine is a penicillin. Justin.

Speaker 4:

Justin, where's Justin? Is Justin here? Justin's gone. Justin, yeah, mine is a whiskey sour too, but only when Chelsea makes it with an arugbeg bbc.

Speaker 6:

Delicious.

Speaker 4:

Delicious yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, what's yours, Chelsea. I said an old fashioned. I just can't go wrong with an old fashioned. I want an old fashioned. Give it to me.

Speaker 4:

Right, right Jeff.

Speaker 1:

Get out of here, Jeff. Thank you so much. Thank you so much God bless you.

Speaker 6:

Thank you very much, jeff. God bless you.

Speaker 1:

Jeff, okay, number. Who else wants to come join the couch? The crusty crouch who's on the crusty couch? Come on, come up, come up, come up?

Speaker 4:

Yay, I think. Hello, hi, what's your name?

Speaker 9:

My name's James.

Speaker 1:

Hi James, when are you from?

Speaker 9:

Here generally Edmunds, general area Forza sketch.

Speaker 1:

Oh, okay, okay, that's okay.

Speaker 9:

I know it sucks, it's fine, like I moved here after. So it's okay, I moved here after.

Speaker 1:

And are you a big whiskey, your big whiskey fan?

Speaker 9:

Yeah, my girlfriend got me into it. I wasn't a super big whiskey drinker until she's outside and doesn't know this is going on, Girlfriend.

Speaker 4:

I said drinking whiskey.

Speaker 1:

Love it, what's that?

Speaker 5:

Let's ask you a question for him.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 9:

I'm going to look like an idiot because no, it's fine, not that one. No.

Speaker 4:

It's a hard one.

Speaker 9:

Is it?

Speaker 4:

No, I'm just kidding. I'm pretty simple.

Speaker 9:

Yeah, you tip the bartender's $150. That's what you do. Yeah, you just give them a bunch of money and feel bad about yourself. I broke a bottle earlier. Yeah, that was me. Yeah, that was you. Oh shit, oh shit. So that's why I came up. I was like shame, shame shame, shame, shame, shame.

Speaker 3:

Thank you.

Speaker 9:

It needed to happen. I hate myself. It's fine I was shaming more.

Speaker 4:

The question.

Speaker 1:

That's shaming with this question, it's actually a lovely question. Oh good, okay it's if you could be any whiskey what would you be and why?

Speaker 9:

Oh, oh, shit, shit.

Speaker 1:

I'm not familiar with it? Shit, I'm not familiar with that whiskey. I'll tell you what I would be yeah, no.

Speaker 9:

Wee-beasty Wee-beasty Because I love that one. It's hard, it's kind of mean, but it's very enjoyable. But you kind of have to get used to it. And it's not anything precocious, it's very simple, it's not very expensive.

Speaker 4:

But it's got a lot of things going on.

Speaker 9:

Wee-beasty that I think that would be nice.

Speaker 1:

It's like the forest gump of.

Speaker 9:

Yeah, it's kind of mildly the hard word that we can't use anymore.

Speaker 5:

The forest gump.

Speaker 9:

And yeah, that's me.

Speaker 4:

Okay, wow, glad to see that. Taking that Pamela, I like a wee-beasty, but okay, I don't know, I would be. I think that's actually quite a hard question. Who'd be that question in how dare you? How dare you?

Speaker 9:

Someone that's willing to step up.

Speaker 4:

I think it would be. I think it would be an ay-lo-wesky, probably just because of that vila connection. For me, maybe Port Charlotte, because I love that area of ay-lo. Love a piti-wesky. It's not your brick-laddies. It's a little bit different, right, it's a little bit different. I think I'd go with Port Charlotte, what about?

Speaker 1:

you. I would be you know what. I would probably be something. I would be like a Khalila. I would be like a little bit. I want a little oil like the legs, you know what I mean Like a little bit greasy, not saying that.

Speaker 4:

I don't know what that means. Your hairdresser Caitlin's looking at you like Caitlin's, like your hair. Hello.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, she put some dry shampoo in my hair earlier. So I'm just going to say, khalila, because, yeah, and it's delicious, just like you. Yeah, just like me. All right, good question. Thank you so much, james. All right, thank you. Thank you for indulging us.

Speaker 4:

I think I should get Myrna up. Myrna looks like she wants to come up. Myrna, come on, myrna.

Speaker 1:

Myrna, myrna.

Speaker 5:

She's like myrna.

Speaker 4:

She's like what have you done this to me? Oh, is that some?

Speaker 1:

soft piano music. Oh, just for Myrna.

Speaker 6:

That was nice. I had to wear my shoes for their colors because I was going to have a t-shirt.

Speaker 4:

But their t-shirt's in the drawer, our t-shirt's going to suck. And they're in bank of art so if you want to support us. You can go on Lane and Buy our shirts, but yeah.

Speaker 1:

Drambycom Guys, this is our coin. Yay, don't talk about it anymore Yay. So tell us a little bit about where you from You're here. I'm from Edmonton.

Speaker 6:

I accidentally have a husband from Scotland Accidentally who doesn't drink whiskey, but I do.

Speaker 1:

Good, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you know what? Guess what, even as a real Alberta girl yeah, women can drink whiskey, it's official. We could do it now.

Speaker 6:

Finally.

Speaker 1:

Here's a question. Are you ready? Sure, here the spotlight's on you. Ok, if you only had one whiskey to drink for the rest of your life, what would it be, and why?

Speaker 6:

So it's the Dow moral, or don't sorry, the Dow moral.

Speaker 2:

That yes.

Speaker 6:

So I accidentally, prior to her previous career with Yelp, before her there was at the taste of Edmonton, I feel like, was they had a Scotch tasting and I took everybody's passport that didn't drink Scotch, so I could get more stamps and drink more Scotch. And the one I kept going back to was this Delmore that they had and I'm like, ooh, I feel like I have antlers now. So it was my first full on. I could drink it and drink it and drink it, apparently because I kept taking everybody's stamp that didn't want to drink whiskey that day. No, the other people didn't do Scotch. I took their passports, I stamped them all with that one, to the point that the girl that was doing it she goes.

Speaker 6:

I don't think you're allowed to have anymore, and because you were technically supposed to have one, because it was really expensive at the time, but it was beautiful. And my second one is and I don't know what it's called, but you'd have to ask my mother-in-law, who is from Scotland. She lives in the Highlands, now by Ballarder, and this whiskey journey started with my husband, who didn't drink whiskey. So at our 10-year vow renewal I sent my husband home with the children and then drank excessively with my sister-in-law and my mother-in-law, who do drink whiskey, and so my husband went home and, whatever that one was, that was my second favorite.

Speaker 4:

Whoever it was, canoes, canoes.

Speaker 6:

That's a great story. Great summer, Marmel Lots of it.

Speaker 1:

It's sometimes the moment in the situation that makes the whiskey the best whiskey. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6:

Could it have been the event?

Speaker 1:

It could have been the event. It could have been gin, no, no.

Speaker 6:

No, it was whiskey. We were in Scotland, oh OK.

Speaker 4:

That's our 10-year vow renewal.

Speaker 1:

That's a so-so-so-so-hard story oh, what if you could drink one whiskey forever?

Speaker 4:

Maybe I have a little Arabuna. I love that. Oh, I love that sherry bottle Big ol'.

Speaker 6:

Wait, what was that? One of the chevrons that we had at the Scottish Highland Gathering, the chevron on the bottle, the chevron Chevron pattern on the bottle. I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 4:

Oh, I don't know, oh La.

Speaker 5:

Clea. La Clea, that was beautiful. That's a good new distillery for sure.

Speaker 6:

If you haven't had that, try that. And it'll make nice decor. When you're done with it, it is beautiful. It's a beautiful bottle.

Speaker 1:

Right off the couch. Oh wait, I have an answer. My answer is Glenn Going 21. And off you go, mm, mm, mm, mm, Mm, mm, mm.

Speaker 4:

Thank you, you love a Glenn Going. Glenn Going, 21?.

Speaker 1:

I love Glenn Going 21, or even 10. It's in like any time. I remember I was at a wedding and I had Glenn Going 21, or 10 year, I think, was in a flask and it just made the rounds and it made everyone happy and it just was like yeah. I'll never forget it. I just love Glenn.

Speaker 6:

Going Any.

Speaker 1:

Glenn Going fans Woo, woo, woo, woo, ok, ok, ok, for this next one. I kind of want to Kent, do you want to come up with this one? Oh, kent, kent, she's like, twist my arm.

Speaker 4:

Kent, kent, kent. Well, let me try to go in the podcast for three years.

Speaker 1:

Kent is Emmett and Whiskey legend and give it up.

Speaker 8:

Wow, it's bright up here.

Speaker 1:

He's the most generous, generous person. Yeah, see.

Speaker 8:

Thanks Jen.

Speaker 1:

You got fans OK.

Speaker 7:

Uh-oh.

Speaker 8:

The jar here we go no, no, too hard, too hard, you won that one. No, you won it easy one. Oh, ok.

Speaker 1:

OK, Kent. First of all, where are you from? What's your name? Who are?

Speaker 4:

you from? Where are you from Generally?

Speaker 1:

Sherwood.

Speaker 5:

Park, generally Sherwood Park, uh-huh.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and what's your greatest fear?

Speaker 8:

Sorry to get into that, sitting on stage with the two gorgeous ladies beside me.

Speaker 1:

Oh no, this should be your dream. Kent's such a charmer. Ok, so here's the question Tell me your honest first story about your first taste of whiskey. Can you recall that? What Get off the couch?

Speaker 8:

I was about 14.

Speaker 1:

14?.

Speaker 8:

Shocking.

Speaker 1:

And it was just like some kind of a random whiskey.

Speaker 8:

It was my mom and dad used to do Christmas parties all the time. Yeah, and my sister and me would wake up early the next day and go down and finish all the drinks. Oh my god.

Speaker 4:

That's amazing.

Speaker 8:

Yeah, so now we are talking that would be the 80s-ish not to give my age away. But liquor back then wasn't quite what we had now. We had very, very slim pickings compared to all the flavors we have now, which is why I have such an amazing bar Because. I want it all.

Speaker 1:

And you almost do you very much do I'm working hard.

Speaker 8:

I'm trying, I'm trying, I love the hecklers in here.

Speaker 4:

It's amazing, I have the best experience. I've actually seen his bar as well. Some people actually show up to my friends At the NTs' Westview Fire one time it was really cool he's like what do you want? Pick something. I was like I literally cannot pick and I don't know what to pick.

Speaker 1:

He's like you're a 40-year-old, I was like pick something for me please.

Speaker 8:

I don't know, I'm going to do a little. Mima Pam at my bar.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, well, this is actually a podcast, so you need to describe it Sorry, yeah, oh, sorry, it was.

Speaker 8:

Draw Dropping to Floor.

Speaker 4:

Stand on Come. That was it. That was it.

Speaker 1:

Pam, do you have an answer to this query?

Speaker 4:

You know what I was thinking about this? Because I've spoken on the podcast before about how the first time I drank whiskey and was like, oh, I like this, it was with my granny, but it was mixed with lemonade. But actually when I worked in a bar just a pub and glass go, I remember trying to drink just like a white and macaque or something like that and I was like, oh my god, this is horrendous. And someone was like just put water in it and I was like I'm going to water the hell out of this because this is horrible and I put loads in. But then I realized I was stuck with a giant glass of just like gross and I was trying to drink it for a really long time and it was awful.

Speaker 1:

That's a great memory.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, so there you go.

Speaker 8:

I'm going to let you turn off whiskey I know,

Speaker 4:

And then the granny got me back on it, so it's OK.

Speaker 1:

God bless you, granny. Kevin Ostepec, here Is he still here, so I left him. Oh, he left. He had a thing, because he's one of the reasons why he's not here anymore, but he's one of. He had gave me one of my first whiskey experiences.

Speaker 4:

Oh yeah, he's so sweet.

Speaker 1:

He's great, but I was working out of Scotch Bar. I was super overwhelmed. Actually, the owners of the Scotch Bar there's Doug and Irene, right there from the Bothy wine and whiskey bar Woo, but he doesn't get any better than the selection there. They were loving the drag show earlier.

Speaker 4:

They were.

Speaker 1:

I saw you, Doug, I mean.

Speaker 4:

Irene.

Speaker 1:

I was overwhelmed. There's all these whiskeys and I didn't even know how to pronounce Brook Lottie, let alone find it on the bar. And I finished my first shift and I was like just kind of like. I was like 1,000 yards stare after. But then Kevin came up and he's like good job, kid, and he like gave me a glass of at the time, the World Whiskey of the Year in 2012. It was the Arbic Supernova, which you probably heard me talk about before.

Speaker 6:

Well, here we go again.

Speaker 1:

I was, but it changed my life. I was like this is amazing, so yeah thank you. Thank you, supernova. So that's kind of the real first taste of whiskey. So good, stir Love it, love it Right. Can't be too. Get out of here, can't oh?

Speaker 8:

Before I run away. Oh, ok, can we do a little?

Speaker 4:

September 23rd in Sherwood Park oh my god, he's trying to book you for the fire.

Speaker 8:

I'm totally doing my. Thing.

Speaker 4:

Come on. Oh, I thought you should have been Chelsea for the whiskey fire.

Speaker 8:

Oh well, that too. Pick one of those fires for sure, no you plug your thing Cool. Ok, so we're doing In the Spirit. It is a fundraiser for youth art in Strathcona County and we're doing well, their non-favorite style. We're doing a round robin type tasting and everybody should buy a ticket and come and join it, because it's a very great place.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, that's awesome. Yeah, we'll be there.

Speaker 8:

There are cards on the various tables around here. You can scan the QR code for more information.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, thanks, kate, thanks ladies.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, wonderful. Thank you, kent. Thanks Kate, woo, woo, woo, woo. One more. Should we do? One more, one more One more Should we do?

Speaker 4:

Fiona? Yes, so she came all the way from Scotland.

Speaker 1:

Fiona get over here.

Speaker 4:

And she's right here.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, love it. So yes, she was on the streets of White Avenue just handing out flyers to anyone. It was great.

Speaker 4:

She was amazing. She stopped at traffic lights in her window and said so was the car next to us? She was like hey, hey, do you like whiskey? And the guy who was in the back seat was like Grant or his mom was in the front, like what's happening? Are you in the back here? This is so uncomfortable. And then we drove to the next set of lights and stopped and we're stuck next to them again. It is so awkward.

Speaker 3:

The guys see tomorrow.

Speaker 1:

Hopefully you're here I don't think they showed up.

Speaker 3:

I don't think it turned up.

Speaker 4:

No, ok, here's a really easy question.

Speaker 1:

Oh, let's hear it and this is maybe for all of us. How much fun. Is this A lot right? Yes, yes, yes, yeah, I'm having a. I'm having fun with Drabbine. Yes, that guy, yeah, he's a, someone just got recording of that just for the last four later yeah.

I really hope that there's going to be more Street Spirit festivals, because it's just brilliant. I'm loving it and I think, pamela and Chelsea, you've done a fantastic job. You can hear it at the grindstone. The staff here are absolutely brilliant. Oh yeah, the people here. You guys are brilliant. And do you want another Street Spirit Festival? Yeah, yes, very much. Are you enjoying it? Yeah?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yes, we're doing it again. This is only the first, and we're just going to get bigger and better. Eventually, the point is to eventually be on the street, hence the name Street.

Speaker 4:

Spirit. We just couldn't afford the street this year. Next year we'll do it, yeah.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, and also, I don't know if Joe's is around here, but Joe's is in Byron. They own this place and they were amazing, are they here?

Speaker 4:

No Joe's is waiting to see Bill Barman.

Speaker 1:

Oh, ok, well, we really.

Speaker 4:

He might see some comedian ditched us.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 4:

But we love him nonetheless, Bill Bar. He went to see Bill.

Speaker 1:

Barman, he was going to see a.

Speaker 4:

DJ tonight, but he's going to see Bill Barman. Really All right, I guess we'll do it again. We had another DJ, but anyway, we still like him, ok yeah.

Speaker 1:

OK, well wait, ok, one more. Or what do we do? One more, one more, one more.

Speaker 3:

One more, I'll leave. I'll leave, but if it could do One more, does someone get a picture of me on the couch? I mean, it is an amazing couch. Can I get a picture on the couch? Yes, all right. Ok, he's actually how sure.

Speaker 4:

She's not leaving. Best MC ever.

Speaker 1:

Totally Effortless. She's also a great. She would have.

Speaker 4:

She has her own radio show. Yeah, it's like a folk fusion radio show on Dunedin Community Radio, but you can get it here. I listened to it all the time. Yes, and she has an awesome band called Really Jiggered, with her sister, alison Minow, and they tour all over. They were just playing at the Fae Shield, the Ayla Whiskey Festival, going around all the distilleries. So this last year loves whiskey as well. Mm-hmm, it's just been great. I'm here for you OK.

favorite memory so far of you and Chelsea doing drumfights. Oh my gosh, that's a great question. What a great question.

Speaker 3:

You can't say this.

Speaker 4:

You can't say today. Ok, ok, ed, what's your favorite memory Of us? You can't say today.

Speaker 5:

I just met you today.

Speaker 4:

OK, time to sit down off the couch. You're very sneaky again. I appreciate that. I like that. I like your moves. It's funny.

Speaker 1:

I also want to make a quick shout out to Caitlin, because she's beautiful balloon art here. Look at us. She made this, she did that, she did that. She's amazing. She also did my hair. She does my hair too.

Speaker 4:

OK, my favorite.

Speaker 1:

OK, you start.

Speaker 4:

Favorite memory? There's been tons. There's been absolute tons. I can't say today because today's been huge, or what's your favorite part Day of birth, so you go first. Do you have anything for us to say? My favorite memory.

Speaker 1:

But recently, I think, is when we here and I went to, we had a very cool opportunity. You know, sometimes people just ask you to do something. You just say yes, whether or not you know how to do it or not. You're just like OK. So someone asked us like hey, do you want to do a mocktail seminar for this yoga retreat on Bowen Island? And we're like oh sure, of course.

Speaker 4:

We were like no, I'll go all in.

Speaker 1:

We figured it out, ok. So we said, yes, we did it, but we had our one night of working, but then the rest of it. We got to enjoy this amazing it was even one night.

Speaker 4:

It was two hours of working. It was two hours of work. Then we got to enjoy our retreat and we went swimming in a lake and it was a beautiful moment.

Speaker 1:

We really bonded yeah.

Speaker 4:

The best part of that was having a chef for three days, yeah, and we had like Burton Ernie beds, like they were like little tiny single beds. Also, we took weed gummies that night.

Speaker 1:

And we took weed gummies.

Speaker 4:

And I couldn't plug the fan in my dad's right there. Oh sorry, dad, dad, I don't do weed. Dad, I don't do weed. Dad had his chick. What happened to?

Speaker 3:

one island stays in Bowen.

Speaker 4:

Yeah Well, your dad told me tonight he had his cherry pop scene in the dress tonight.

Speaker 1:

You see the dress tonight. So, Give it up for my dad's first stretch. Yeah, yeah, woo, how about one?

Speaker 4:

for you. Oh, donairs 3 AM. What Donairs 3?

Speaker 2:

AM oh donairs.

Speaker 4:

Do you know what that was awesome? We helped Drams for Fam's, was that this year? Yeah, oh, my god, yeah, with Travis who's out the back actually. So definitely go and see him with Boulder Spirits. He hosts an amazing festival every year and it raises so much money for the Edmonton Food Bank and we helped him out this year. We made amazing table decorations and we just helped him kind of elevate it a little bit. He raised something like 40 grand for the Edmonton Food Bank. It was insane.

Speaker 1:

And it was all because of the WSCE community.

Speaker 4:

And that possibly is my favorite thing that to go back to Caitlin's question for us one of the most amazing things was done. So being part of that was amazing and that, for me, made us feel like we were really part of the Edmonton WSCE community scene, which was really nice.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we felt enveloped and embraced with a warm heart.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, like a warm wave, especially when Kent bought the Donairs at 3 o'clock in the morning.

Speaker 1:

The real hero? Yeah, but I know, do we have time for one more question when?

Speaker 4:

do you wrap things up?

Speaker 1:

I mean you've got probably no set down Favorite bourbon. What's my favorite bourbon I like? You know what I like right now? I like the five-year-old Leopold Brothers bourbon out of Denver, colorado, leopold Brothers.

Speaker 4:

And he actually was here for that Jams for Fam's event. And, yeah, delicious stuff, all small batch, amazing.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, any more questions? Or should we just get this? Should we just get this party?

Speaker 4:

Party started Started. Yes, ok, so everyone for coming. Thank you, guys. This is amazing.

Speaker 3:
