Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's Podcast! Here we study three confrontations between Jesus and the religious leaders—the healing at the Pool of Bethesda, the disciples eating grain, and the man with the withered hand—and discover a consistent pattern. The Pharisees had taken God's simple command to rest on the Sabbath and twisted it into legalism with over 1,500 burdensome regulations, completely missing the point. With legalism, we are essentially putting ourselves in God's place, diminishing the power of the cross, creating divisions within the body of Christ, and worst of all, caring more about regulations than about people.
