When I first started dipping my toe into the world of online business and started doing things online way back in 2009, I started with the Scrooge mindset. I believed that what I did was more valuable than what anyone else did, and so I priced all my deals and structured everything accordingly. For the very first product I launched, I offered affiliates a miserly 10% because - hey, I'd done all the work making the product. I completely ignored and was unaware that getting customers, getting traffic is way harder than building a product.

Anyone could build a course in their backyard. It doesn't require anyone else's involvement. We can do it on our own. I build courses all the time. And I'm going to talk about that a few episodes down the line from now. If this mindset sounds familiar, if you've ever tried to work with someone and they were too selfish, and so it killed the deal - I want you to throw a thumbs up below this video because you know what I'm talking about.

I had this mindset that I needed to keep a larger percentage of every deal as possible so that I could earn what I deserved. The problem with this type of mindset is that you start to earn a hundred percent of nothing. You get to keep a hundred percent of nothing or 90% of nothing. And my sales were, of course, abysmal. I never had an affiliate sale for that product. Why would anyone promote it?
