Speaker 1:

Welcome back again, friends, your daily Bible podcast. Today, we are going to look together from the book of Romans chapter five, verse five. This is what Paul says to the church in Rome and hope does not put us to shame because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the holy spirit who has been given to us. Okay. Amen. What a wonderful piece of scripture and what a wonderful reminder that Paul gives us. Let me ask you, do you ever find yourself struggling with anger or bitterness or frustration? Revenge racism, pride, apathy. See, these are all things that live in our heart. Now we have the tendency to say that these things are someone else's fault. I'm angry because this is happening or I'm frustrated because this is happening or I'm, uh, I feel this way because this is what that person did to me. But the Bible actually teaches us that these attitudes don't come from the outside. Jesus says in mark 7 21, 4 it's from within, out of the heart of man that come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride foolishness. All of these evil things come from within and they defile a person. So see the problem isn't out there as much as we would like to blame out there as the problem, the problem comes from inside us. It comes from our heart. It is a reality of this fallen world, fallen body that we live in. But Paul tells us that the holy spirit is now pouring. God's love into our hearts. He's renewing us. He's restoring us. He's giving us a brand new heart. In fact, that's something that the prophet[inaudible] told us way back in the old Testament and the ZQ 36, 26 speaking about the day in which we live today. He said, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you. I will remove you from you, your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. You see, this is the work of the holy spirit. The holy spirit takes out our Stony hard heart and gives us a transplant, a brand new heart, a heart of flesh, a heart that the spirit continually is pouring. God's love into, and that love transforms everything. It changes everything. First Corinthians chapter 13 that you hear read at every wedding you go to says, this love is patient and it's kind, it doesn't end.

Speaker 2:

It doesn't boast. It. Isn't proud. It doesn't dishonor others. It's not self-seeking it's not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love doesn't delight in evil, but rejoices with truth. And it always protects. Always trusts, always hopes and always perseveres love never fails. So the holy spirit is pouring. Christ's love his perfect self-sacrificing love into your heart. And it's bringing about a total transformation from the inside out. You see you are being renewed. You are being restored each and every day with this patient kind wonderful love of God that's being dumped into you. So if you find yourself struggling with the old heart, with anger, with bitterness, with frustration, with envy, then what you need today is to ask the holy spirit to pour himself out on you. Again, you need to be going back to the source to spending time in God's word, to spending time in worship, to spending time allowing the holy spirit, to bring the love of God and pour it into your heart so that you can be transformed. It's not something you can do on your own. It's not something you can muster up. It's not something that you can use willpower to do. It is the work of the holy spirit in you to pour the love of God into your heart. And we desperately need it. Let's pray. Jesus, I thank you that you are pouring your love into our heart right now by the power of the holy spirit. I pray God that we would allow the spirit to do his work in us. By pouring your love into our hearts. We would allow you God to transform us from the inside out that God, we would walk in your love that we would treat others with the love that you're pouring into our lives. That we would be gracious as you are gracious, that we would be kind as you are kind, that we would allow your love to fundamentally and completely transform us and change us so that we can truly be your hands and your feet in this world. I pray it in Jesus name. Amen.
