Many of us remember the 90's when a man named Dr. Kevorkian, or Dr. Death, was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to a 10 to 25 years in prison for helping people commit suicide. His "suicide machine," and role in helping people end their lives shocked many of us. Fast forward thirty years, though, and we now live in a world where the idea of legally assisted suicide is not only not shocking, it's heralded as a way to help people die with dignity. As of 2026, assisted suicide is fully legal in over 13 countries, as well as several states in America. Some are even allowing children as young as 12! to make the decision to end their lives without parental consent. What is behind this horrific trend and how should the church respond to it?
