Bread is a devotional series designed to help you connect with God in a meaningful way, all in about 5 minutes.
The 5 minutes moves int three parts:
- A verse and meditation on that verse.
- Pray the Lord's prayer
- Make declarations over your day.
In this episode we discuss how God took time for reflection and enjoyment of his creative work. The implications for us is that we were made for this same type of meaningful reflection.
Hey there, I'm Josh, and this is bread, a guided devotional series to help you connect with God in a meaningful way, in about five minutes. Episode number one.
A few things about bread.
- Number one is we'll share a verse and a meditation together on that verse.
- Number two is we'll pray the Lord's prayer together.
- And thirdly, we'll make declarations together for our day.
Now, the verse says, Genesis chapter one, verse 31, and it says, Then God looked over all he had made. And he saw that it was very good.
Since this is a short verse, look at it once more, pay attention to the verbs here. Then God looked over all he had made. Then he saw, it was very good.
In sequential order, the first thing we need to look at is it God actually worked. He created he made, and he seemed to delight in working. He seemed to delight in doing things with his hands, if you will, having this connection to what he was making, and he made. And then he actually looked at the things he had made. And, you know, reflection is such a powerful tool, because reflection, it enables us to look at the things that we've done, and attach meaning to the things that matter. And I think here God was reflecting over the things that he had done, and he didn't just do this once. But he did this a few times he would create. And after he would make, after he made, he would look and see that it was good. And I think that when we reflect it enables us to step off of the hamster wheel of busyness, if you will, it enables us to, to stop and smell the roses, if you will. And to see the value in the things that we've been involved with. And so God did this. He looked, he made he looked. And then last thing he did is he saw, he saw that it was good. The amazing thing about God is it. First of all, that God, that He is a God that takes the light, he delights in things. You know what he had made? When he said that it was very good, or this was after he made man after he had created people. He saw that it was very good. The first things he made, he said were good. When he made people he said very good. He's revalue statements upon his reflection. And there's your meditation for our day now.
I'm about to lead us in the Lord's Prayer. And if you could just pray with me, maybe pray, after I pray. Let's do this together. Jesus said, this is then how you should pray. Our Father in heaven hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from the evil.
Yeah. declare this with me.
I can do this.
God sees me.
God is with me.
Based on our meditation today, I am made for meaningful work.
Also, I'm reflecting on my work and seeing what is good. Say that I'm reflecting on my work and seeing what is good.
There's a bonus declaration for you. I'm gonna rock this a day.
Thanks to our contributors and thank you for taking part in bread. I'm so glad that we could do this together .
