I can’t think of a better way to wrap up this series on God’s attributes in the light of our salvation than to read for you Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, a classic sermon by the Reverend Jonathan Edwards. He delivered it to his congregation in 1741 during a revival in the New England colonies, and its challenging words have stirred many a soul to accept God’s gift of salvation. What I want you to notice, though, is how important it is to understand who God is in order to fully understand each of Edwards’ points. It’s when you fully realize that you are but dust, when compared to the Almighty God, that you understand how amazing it is that God would choose to love us and die for us.
