As a church we need to know the ten commandments and to understand them. Our religion is based on them. Our country is based on them. They are the rules that show us how to live our lives. When we stop following them we open ourselves to all sorts of problems and begin to fail as a culture.
Sometimes people say the they are part of the Old Testament and therefore don’t matter. We must have both the Old and New Testaments. They strengthen each other.
Israel entered into a covenant with God and said that they would submit to His authority.
The law that came from the commandments was how Israel was supposed to live. If they followed them, they would be blessed. If not, they would be abandoned by God.
God spoke the commandments Himself. No human made them up.
He starts off by saying who He is and why He can make these laws.
