Imagine an education system that places God, family values, and the Constitution at the heart of its functioning - that's the America Mike King envisions. As a 38-year veteran school principal and now, a contender for a USD 443 school board seat, Mike is here to share his framework for a high-performing education system that champions the rights of parents and the indispensability of teachers.
Uncover the essence of Mike’s ideology that blends traditional American values, rigorous academic instruction, and a commitment to enhancing parent-teacher partnerships. Hear him dissect his approach to handling disruptive behavior in classrooms, fostering a safe learning environment, and ensuring that board members are beholden to their constituents. This episode is a journey into a patriot's mission to uphold the core principles that he believes can make America prosper. Be prepared for a thought-provoking conversation that challenges status quo and radiates Mike's passion for an education system that prepares students for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
I am Mike King, running for a USD 443 school board seat. First and foremost, I want to applaud you as Moms for Liberty. You are joined together as patriots to provide a strong voice to ensure traditional American values are deeply instilled in our youth and America's future. Over time, you will undoubtedly grow in numbers, and today you are an individual by voice set for purpose. You see, there is a lot of power in talking across the fence to your neighbors, and you should always voice your opinion, especially today, when the strategy is to cancel voices to win a narrative. Being here today means that you are a silent majority and your representatives need to be heard, especially when it comes to the education of our youth. I believe that America will continue to prevail only when God and patriotism become once again the central focus of all Americans. Today we face many challenges and if we do not stand up for God, family values and our Constitution, we may not prosper as a nation built on the foundation of traditional American values. That means we must have a robust educational system solely focused on solid academics, including American constitutional history, the devoted importance of patriotism and parental rights.
Speaker 1:I am here today for one reason to talk about how schools can succeed in every community Without hesitation. From first hand experiences as a school principal for 38 years, I have seen and experienced what exceptional schools do to reach high performing standards. These schools were not white collared schools. These were safe schools where respect for one another was the norm for conduct. These were schools where teachers cared about student learning and parents were invited to join their children's educational experience. How was this accomplished? Very simple it begins with the parents. That is, engaging parents at the onset and ensuring that open communications with parents is essential, with the promise that the parent would be contacted anytime a student was in need. In addition, parents have the full right concerning their children's upbringing, education and care. When schools partner with parents and actively seek their involvement, students are likely to experience improved outcomes. As a school board member, I will advocate for strong policies for parental and community involvement opportunities throughout the district. These policies will include opportunities for parents to review books and curriculum materials set on advisory boards at the school and district level, involve parents in conversations about their child's progress in school and provide choices for customized education promoting family involvement.
Speaker 1:My primary goal for running for the Board of Education will be to prepare students for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness through rigorous academic instruction according to each student's God-given gifts and talents. I want Dodge City schools to be the best in Kansas and to reach that goal. Our children must come first in all policymaking. I also support the Kansas statutes that guarantees parents have the fundamental right to exercise primary control over their child's education. I recognize that teachers are most valuable for student learning and they should not be burdened with pay for work and regulations caused by upper administration, who are responsible to local citizens and not federal standards. Teachers should not be burdened with disruptive behavior that distracts from learning.
Speaker 1:As a school principal, I was committed to the idea that classrooms are a sanctuary for learning and no student has the right to disrupt another student's education. Teachers must have the authority to conduct the learning process without disruption by fostering a safe learning environment. Teachers must be given support needed to have control of their classrooms if we expect learning to take place. To accomplish such a goal, individual schools must establish policies where immediate consequences equal to the behavior are administered for disruptive behavior. To achieve high academic standards, all teachers and administrators must guarantee that all students in USD 443 will have every opportunity to be prepared to succeed in college and or a career of their choice.
Speaker 1:I strongly believe in local control and that elected board members are to be held accountable to their constituents. That is why I will run under the slogan parent rights and accountable learning. Accountable learning will ensure that the educational standards established by the Kansas State Board of Education are adopted locally. I will also fight to ensure that these standards include the study of civics, financial literacy, the US and Kansas constitutions and history by sourcing the original documents of our founding fathers. I conclude, I am asking for your support and to visit my Facebook page at electmikking443boe.
