2/1/2020- Segment 4: Too Many Trips to the Restroom at Night? Dr. Mistry Answers Listener Questions about Frequent Nighttime Peeing and Handling Stubborn Kidney Stones
Feb 01, 2020
Dr. Sandeep Mistry and Donna Lee

Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men’s Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in urology care and the best urology humor out there.

In this segment Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee answer a few questions submitted by program listeners! If you have a urology and health-related question that you would like to hear answered on the air, please email your questions to armormenshealth@gmail.com. Questions are answered anonymously, unless otherwise specified, and the answers will likely benefit many people with the same concerns.

In particular, Dr. Mistry answers the following questions today:

" I'm getting up to pee at night. My urologist recommended a cystoscopy (bladder inspection), but is there any other treatment for me?"

-Dr. Mistry discusses the difference between a true urge to urinate and an overactive bladder, as well as how our bodies work to make less urine as we rest throughout the night.

" I have had a kidney stone for 5 years that could not be broken into smaller pieces- what should I do?"

-Dr. Mistry discusses different changes that can occur in the kidney, including the development of a kidney stone that is not responsive to traditional methods (e.g. using shockwave therapy to break up stones). Seeking treatment sooner than later is often a good starting point, as kidney stones can cause pain if and when they decide to move or make their way out of the body.

At NAU Urology Specialists, patients have access to a dietitian/nutritionist that can go over dietary changes to reduce their individual stone risk!
