Dr. Sandeep Mistry and Donna Lee

Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men’s Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in urology care and the best urology humor out there.

In this segment, Donna Lee asks Dr. Mistry questions submitted to the program by you, our listeners! If you have a urology and health-related question that you would like to hear answered on the air, please email your questions to armormenshealth@gmail.com. Questions are answered anonymously, unless otherwise specified, and the answers will likely benefit many people with the same concerns.

Today's question comes from a 71 year old male that's just getting started:
"Hi Dr. Mistry- I'm a 71 year-old Caucasian male with no medical history (high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity). Last year I had a surgical repair of a hydrocele with no issues. 1) Is linear focused therapy a good treatment for ED (cost, length?); 2) What if anything can increase the volume of semen?"

Linear-focused therapy is another, much less scary, name for shockwave therapy. This treatment uses a low-energy ultrasound wave to target tissues of the penis to stimulate blood flow and regeneration of healthy tissues. While the word 'shockwave' sounds like something you would not want to expose your private parts to, it can be a great option for treating erectile dysfunction, particularly for people wanting to limit the long-term use of medications. This treatment is offered once a week for 6 weeks, and has a total cost of $2,000 at Urology Specialists.

Many factors can impact the volume of ejaculate, that is, the fluid ejected from the penis during orgasm. These can range from abnormal cholesterol levels, low testosterone, or even an enlarged prostate gland. Dr. Mistry shares that something that can be even more troublesome is a condition known as hypoorgasmia, which is marked by delayed ejaculation and lessened orgasms. One of the most effective treatments for this condition is pelvic floor physical therapy. At Urology Specialists, patients who can benefit from this treatment will get to work with Dr. Angela Treadway, DPT.
