Dr. Abikhaled works for Austin Surgeons and performs many thyroid/gland surgeries, abdominal surgeries including the removal of non-vital organs, and hernia repairs. Today, Dr. Jacomides and Dr. Abikhaled discuss the diagnosis of inguinal hernias (hernias in a man's genital area), the methods available for operating on them, and the recovery time men can expect. They also explain why most hernias are painless and do not constitute true emergencies. Unless the bowel is poking through the separated muscle wall, causing a dangerous and potentially life-threatening bowel strangulation, most hernias can be left untreated until a convenient time for patient and physician.
