I have a extra bonus episode for you this week. I wanted to talk to you guys about something that I've been hearing a lot lately and it was actually something that came to me while I was on my vacation last week and we were at this cottage and a, it was a beautiful cottage and to get to the beach you had to access um, era to access the beach. You had to go down this ginormous staircase. It was like, I dunno, had to been a hundred steps and so every day we would go up and down those steps. Sometimes a couple of times, and I've heard this before in motivational videos and I've heard this in podcasts and training and things like that that I've taken part of, but the, the analogy of you don't have to see the whole staircase in order to get to where you want to go or to, you know, accomplish a goal. You just have to see the first step. And I thought about that every single time I went up and down that staircase. And it did actually help me because when I was going, when I would go down the stairs, that was fine. Going up the stairs, you know, you look up and you see all those stairs and you're just like, oh my gosh, I'm going to be so tired. This is going to be so hard. You just start like giving yourself all of these reasons and excuses as to why this is going to be so hard to get to the top. And I found and so that, first of all I found when I only focused on the next step, when I only focused on putting my foot on the first step and then the next step instead of looking up at the whole entire staircase, I found that it was easier for me to get up the stairs versus you know, constantly looking up to see how much do I have left, how much more do we have to go and feeling that tiredness if I just focused, if I just looked down and focused on just the very next step, it was always easier for me and I didn't really think about, you know, how much farther I had to go. I just kept saying the next one, the next one, the next one, and just calling out that, that, that saying that I was hearing in these motivational videos and things like that that I've heard in the past would pop into my head and I'd be like, just look at the next step. Shana. Don't look at the whole staircase. And the reason I want to talk to you guys today about this is because that's totally what, you know, starting a business or starting something new or life in general. You know, when you have a goal in life, you don't have to know every single detail on how you're going to get there. You don't. And I think what happens is a lot of people get overwhelmed in the thought of the entirety into, in, into the thought of the, the, the full scope of how they're going to make that goal happen. And so what happens is, is the fear and the doubt and the excuses start to sink in because they're looking at the entire goal. Um, and they're, and they're overwhelmed by the how. And so instead of doing anything, they do nothing and they get stuck and they wonder why life isn't changing. Here's the magical thing about, well first of all, it's a magical thing not having to know all the answers on how you're going to get there. Like, isn't that a relief to hear that? That you don't need to know the entire how you don't. You don't need to know the entire plan of how you are going to accomplish your goals. But what you do have to do without a doubt is you have to make the decision, one, that you want that goal and you're willing to do what it takes to make it happen. And two, you need to take the first step you need to walk towards no matter how small towards the goal towards like to take that first step on that giant staircase and you don't have to look up, you just need to know what's the first step. And sometimes the first step is just research. Sometimes the first step is just reading a book about the thing that you want to to learn about. Sometimes the first step is just registering the business name. You know, sometimes the first step is just saying it out loud that hey, I'm going to do this. You know, and, and if you make that first step, guess what happens? The next step shows up. The next step appears when you take, make a decision and take a step on that staircase towards your goal, the next thing that you need will show up because your intention is there because you have made the decision in your mind that this is something that you're going to do and it starts to pull together and you just keep taking steps towards what it is that you're looking for. You know, I was having a conversation on Facebook yet last night, um, somebody that I, I've talked to a few times about business and things and um, she messaged me and we were kind of going back and forth and she had mentioned that, messaged and said that she knows she wasn't totally happy with what she was doing and she wanted to, you know, she wanted to fix that. And so I said to her, you know, well what are, what are the things that you like, what are, what do you love to do? And she mentioned, and she likes to work with kids and she likes to work with kids who have disabilities. And I said, and I remembered, cause we had had a conversation, um, weeks ago about her wanting to open up a facility, like a rec facility for, um, children with disabilities so that they could have a place to go and hang out and do different things and whatever. And I remember her telling me about that dream. And so I mentioned that to her and I said, Oh yeah, you wanted to do this. And she was like, yeah, yeah, yeah. And she's like, and I said, well, what do you think is something that you could do right now to help move you towards that? And her answer was, well, I would need rent, rent a facility to me, her answer was the entire staircase. While I need to rent a facility and I need to start this right now, like, I need to have a building in order to make this happen. I challenged her on that and I said, well, instead of, you know, going there now, because this is just an idea in your head, it's just a thought in your head. It's a goal that you have. But what if you just started researching other facilities that exist in around in your area or any area for that matter, and look at what kinds of programs they offer and what kinds of, you know, buildings do they have and how many students or how many people use the facility? What if you just started doing research on, you know, what it would, what those facilities have and just kind of get an idea of what it could look like, you know, for you. And in taking that step of just actually even going onto the internet and researching, you know, facilities like that and just doing some, some digging and learning about other facilities. The next step for her, we'll show up and maybe the next step is she goes and she visits them. Maybe she goes and talks to one of the owners and get some insight on how the facility was created, you know, so it doesn't have to be the first step doesn't have to be, you know, opening the doors to a facility ready to go. It could just be researching it. The point I'm trying to make here is that we can get overwhelmed in all of the details of what it is that we want to accomplish. And it's so much so that we just don't take action. And what we're missing is the point is the key to actually making these big goals happen is to not look at the entire path, not to look at the, the how of making it happen. It's just looking at what is something small I can do to move towards that. Maybe it's joining a coaching program, maybe it's reading a book, maybe it's, um, you know, having a coffee date with somebody who's doing what you're doing and asking them questions. And it's funny because for me, when I decided I wanted to become an online coach or have an online business, one of the things I did was I started researching other people who were doing what I wanted to do. And I was starting to follow them on Facebook and Instagram and watching their process. And then the next thought that I got was, hey, why don't I reach out to this one person who I was following and ask them if they would help me? And that led to a phone call, which led to me hiring that person, which led to me finding out what I needed to do in order to get started, which led me to, you know, more things that led me to another coach and led me to. And here's what I want you to get is that even if the choices and the decisions that you make, even if that first step, that second step, even if the 10th step you take, you realize, oh wait, this isn't really what I wanted to do. Cause I think that's another thing that scares people. It's like, oh well what if I take these steps and this isn't the right thing? Well here's the cool thing about this is that when you take action towards the thing that you even think you want, you don't even have to know 100% that this is what you want. But even when you start moving towards that goal, if it's not the right goal, the right goal will show up. You may find that you're pivoting somewhere along the path and that's okay because you wouldn't have figured that out if you hadn't have stepped on that first step to begin with. This is so important you guys because I know there's a lot of you out there who are sitting in this place of I don't like what I'm doing. I don't like my job. I'm not happy, I'm not feeling fulfilled. I see all these people doing these fun things or having these businesses and I really want to do that or I really want to serve in this one way. I really, I have this knowledge and I have this, this, this passion for this thing. And I know it could help people or I know, you know, I would love to be able to, like, if I could wake up everyday and work on this, it would make my life so I'm feel, feel so fulfilled and happy and you're not doing that right now and you're not doing it because you don't know how to do everything all at once. And here's Newsflash, nobody does. Right. And anybody you look at in this business, in any business or in any looking at any goals, they didn't wake up one day and go, I want to be, you know, this, and be the best at it and be, you know, all these things, and then have the exact plan in place and then just started, you know, doing the things they didn't, they just, they just knew that's what they wanted. And then they started going, okay, well, um, I guess I gotta do something to, in order to make this happen. I gotta do something different. And they take a step. And so, so many of you get stuck in the space of I don't know how, and you're not supposed to know how. You don't need to have the whole path laid out. You just need to know what's the next step, what is something I can do? And here's the other thing is I think you guys go well cause I can already hear it. The conversation in my head is, well I don't know what the next step is Shayna. Well take a step in any direction, any direction. Like I said, listen to a different podcasts on that thing that you think you want to do. Read that book. Follow the people. Go have the coffee date with somebody you know, just explore the options around you and see where they take you. Hire a coach. Do something radically different than you've ever done in order to see what comes up for you. And I promise you when you move towards your goal, you'll either accomplish the goal because the next steps will all appear for you as you keep moving or it'll move you towards the right goal. That is that. That's for you right. If even if like I know there are so many people who are doing things right now that they would have said to you, if you had asked me 10 years ago if I'd be doing this or even two years ago if I'd be doing this, I would have said, how's no right? I look at my path, you know, I was a graphic designer. You know, my goal at that time, you know, in my life, this would have been 10 15 years ago, was to have my own design agency work with my husband, like create this massive marketing agency. Then I pivoted to network marketing, which pivoted me to online business coaching or online network marketing coaching, which pivoted me to business coaching, which I'm sure will pivot me again and it wouldn't have happened if I didn't, you know, explore the opportunities or explore different roads that were, that were there if I didn't take a step and say yes. And so I'm, I'm imploring you guys who are out there feeling stuck, having this, this feeling in your heart that you want to do something different. You guys, if you want something different, you have to do something different. And so don't try and figure out how you're going to get up that entire staircase in one gulp. It's not going to happen. Just how can you move one step closer from where you are right now towards that goal and go do it. That's all. That's all it takes. DC deciding that you want something and then moving a step towards it, no matter how little that step. Cause once you take that step, guess what? There's the next step and then the next step and just keep moving towards that. So I hope that you guys found some value in this today. If you did or you know somebody who needs to hear this, you know the drill, just share this with them. Share it in your Instagram stories. Share a highlight moment that you got from this podcast today. It means the world to me to hear that you guys are finding these valuable and that you're enjoying these lessons and that you're getting something from them. So that's it for me today, you guys. I hope that you have an amazing rest of the week. We'll talk to you soon. Until next time. Bye.
