Welcome to this quick minute with Shana. I'm today. I'm going to talk to you guys. This is not going to be a quick minute. Let me just tell you that right now. Um, this is going to be a bit of a longer time and I wanted to talk to you guys in this episode today about your goals for 2019. Now I know a lot of you probably listened to podcasts already or done some sort of goal setting workbook and that's all awesome. And here we are. It's pretty much just past the middle of January. Some of those things that we may have written down in some of those things we may have wanted, we may have forgotten already. If you haven't done a goal setting session or you haven't looked at even planning out your 2019 yet, then I think you're gonna find some great value in today's episode. So I wanted to talk to you guys about a goal vision creation, workshop, whatever you want to call it that I recently did myself and I also did it with my network marketing team, but I think it works. It works for any entrepreneur and I did this one a little differently this year. Every year I do a goal setting or a vision workshop or presentation for my team is, um, this year I wanted to do things different because what I've been noticing just in, in general and even in my own business and my own self because I kept repeating the same year, like the last three years, feel like they've just been repeating the same things over and over. I keep making goals and they weren't happening and I'm like, what's going on? Why isn't this working? I realized that in planning my goals, it's one thing to know what you want and it's one thing to like say I'm going to do these things, but it's another thing in the action that we take in order to make that happen. And so when I looked back at the last few years I realized that I really wasn't doing anything differently than I had the year before. You know, maybe in some areas like for, for my Shane record.com business, yes. I've been doing things a bit differently at still in a growth phase. So there's still a lot of new and different things that I'm doing and trying and in my network marketing business I kinda was just sort of doing the same thing I'd done the year before and expecting different results, which we know is the definition of insanity. So this year I when I was planning my goal session, because I know there are people on my team and people that I know that I've experienced the same things and so I wanted to create a goal setting session that was just a little bit different. And that's what this episode is here today is I'm going to go through the, uh, the, the workshop that I did for my team. So if you're listening to this while you're driving, just listen, but listen to it again when you get home so that you can write down these questions and you can really put some thought into them. And that's, you really need to take some time to think through what I'm about to share with you right now. This is not just something that says, Hey, I want to do this this year. Yay. This is more of a, of a internal look at where you've been, where you want to go, and what needs to change. So I, here we go, I'm going to dive in. So the first thing that we had on our worksheets was looking back at 2018. You know, my, my biggest thing that I always say is that we can't have anything more until we're grateful for what we already have. So I had everybody look back on 2018 and just really talk about and think about and make a list of all the things that we were grateful for. All of the things that happened in 2018 that you can say, you know what, yes, I'm so glad that that happened or I'm so thankful for this or had a roof over my head for the whole year. That's something to be thankful for, right? Like even the littlest things, whatever you can do, whatever you can think of, just write it out in a list like what went right for you in 2018 and be grateful for that. Okay. Um, so spend some time in gratitude because that always sets our energy up to be in the right place as we move into the goal setting and the, and the desire part of the session. The second thing that I asked everyone was, uh, where did you fall short of your goals in 2018? So I won't really with this question. I just wanted them to look back at the year and go, what did I say that I wanted to have happen but didn't? And where did I fall short in that? Why were, what were the things that I, you know, said at the beginning of year without a doubt these things are gonna happen and then they didn't. And I really wanted them to just make a list of those things. Now, there may not be a lot of things here. There may only be a couple. Um, I know for me one of the things is I really wanted to get into meditation and have a solid yoga practice and make it a priority and you know, be at the yoga classes once to twice a week. And I didn't, I did not make that a priority and I fell short of my goal of making that happen, you know? And so I really just kind of was looking at some of the things that I wanted and I said I was going to do and then I didn't. And then the next question that follows this one up is what comes up for you on why these goals didn't happen, and there's a reason that I'm asking these questions, you guys, because when you look at your where you fell short, I want you to look inward at yourself and go, what? What, why did those things not happen? And I know for me a lot of the, the, the first thing that comes up is, well, I didn't have enough time. I just, I got so busy, I had this other thing that I was doing and I was building this and I was doing that and I just didn't have enough time to make that a priority or blaming, you know, other things, other resources are not available or my company did this or this happened. And so that's why I didn't, I didn't hit my goals. But what I want to challenge you on is I want to challenge you on. Don't like when you're looking at why these goals didn't happen. I don't want you to blame outside sources. I want you to look inward at yourself. Why didn't those goals happen for you? What could you, what, what didn't you do? You know what? For me, I did not make yoga meditation, you know, that's that self care piece that I really want in my life. I did not make it a priority. I led it. It was the first thing off my list. Every time I got busy and so I didn't make it a priority. It wasn't the other thing's fault. It was my fault that that didn't happen because I did not make that a priority in my life and I, I, I just decided to make it negotiable and I shouldn't have. Right? So you really need to become aware like awareness is. So I need to just do a podcast on awareness itself. Awareness of what's going on inside with you is what we need to focus on here. Because if we want something different, we have to do something differently. So when I look at where I fell short of my goals, you know my business, my network marketing business didn't grow the way I wanted it to will. It had nothing to do with outside sources. It had everything to do with me. I didn't do enough. I didn't make that a priority, right? I didn't, I wasn't putting myself out there enough. Right? And yes, there are lots of reasons why. But really, if I wanted that goal to happen, I would have made that a priority. And so as you can see, I'm getting you to think a little differently about, you know, where you've been and where you want to go. So the next question on this, um, this, this journey that I took them through is, is now we're moving into the goals. Now we're moving into, now that you've had some reflection time on 2018, I want you to start making the list of what do you want to have happened in 2019. What is that, that goal, if you can see it in your mind as done and you can get excited about it and rep feeling around it, it already exists out there for you. So what are those things? Anything goes, don't hold back. Make the list of all the things that you want in 2019, no matter how crazy they seem, just make the list right? And as you make this list, really feel them. See them in your mind, right? See those things that you want in your mind. So looking at, looking at all of that, I want you to just like get excited about what's on that list. Okay. So then the next question is what self limiting beliefs come up as you were writing that list? Okay, so I know for me, writing my list, there's a couple things I wrote on my list that my, my instinct when as I was writing it or my self limiting thoughts that come up because you know, they're, they're always, there are egos always there to put us to try and take us down and you know, make us comfortable and so that we don't do things that are scary. But when, when I was writing some of these things down on my list, my cell, the, the voice in the back of my head was like, you know, you're not going to do that. You know that you can't, that's going to be way too expensive. You can't go to La with your husband for your anniversary, know that that's not going to happen, and so I want you to pay attention to what, when you look back at your list, like think about that, what self limiting thoughts were coming up for you as you were writing those things that you wanted, you know you want to promote in your company or you want to build that online business and your first thought is, Oh, you know, you're not going to do that. You know that. That's too scary. You know you're not going to put yourself out there like that, and maybe it's not a loud voice that comes up in your head as you're writing those things, but I, it's probably really quiet. But if you are aware and you really think about it, you know it's there somewhere. And so I want you to dig those out. Okay? I want you to call those out and I want you to make that list of self limiting beliefs and write them down on a paper and be brutally honest with yourself. Here you guys, if you want something different, you have to be different. You have to think different. So we have to recognize these self limiting thoughts that we're having deep down in our subconscious as we're thinking about our goals, right? So write those things down and I want you to see them on paper because the next thing that I want you to do is I want you to look at those self limiting beliefs and I want you to write number three is, or sorry, number. I think we're on number four. What would be the opposite of each of those self limiting beliefs? And then I want you to write those out. So for, I want to, I want to move my network marketing business to then a new level. I want to take it higher. I want to, I want my, my coaching business. I got big goals for this business. I want to take it to the next level. And part of the self limiting beliefs that come up for me in both of those, in both of those things are similar but different. But you're not like those people who are actually really making. You're not. You're not Rachel Hollis, you're not Louis House like you don't have the what it takes to do that, like that's a self limiting thought that comes into the very back of my mind very quietly and I have to listen to it because I need to change it. And the only way to change it is become aware of it and rewrite it through repetition. So what would the opposite of those self limiting beliefs be? And I want you to write those out on paper because those are going to become your new affirmations. So if you want to move forward in your network marketing business or you want to move forward in your online business and your self limiting thought is, I'm not good enough, then I want you to to the opposite of that is I am amazing at this business. I am like, I rock out the best content for my group. I have my calendar. Is always so full of appointments like whatever the whatever the negative thoughts that you have in yourself conscious. I want you to write down the opposite and I want you to repeat these things daily, hourly as often as you can because the only way to change a self limiting thought or belief or what they call paradigm is through repetition. It's either it's either through impact or like something that major that happens in your life that can shift. Like if you were into something and usually that's something tragic. So we don't want that. Like a, you know, a major life event or something that's crazy that could have happened. That's one way to shift a paradigm, but the other way is through repetition and we don't necessarily want the big impact thing because it's usually negative. So we want to shift it through repetition. We have to say and change the beliefs in our head because these self limiting beliefs that you've had, they're the. They're the reasons why you didn't make the goal happen last year or the year before because these things are deep down in your subconscious and so you need to change them and that takes time and it takes repetition and it takes a lot of journaling and writing and rethinking the way that you think. Re reprogramming those self limiting thoughts, kicking them out of your head and replacing them with new positive ones. So write those down and make that a list that you keep on your desk of things that you're going to change, the things that you're going to think about, those self limiting beliefs, those thoughts that roll through your head. You're going to change them into something positive that's going to serve you and your goals. So write those out and then keep that somewhere where you can read them regularly. Have them come up as reminders on your phone and then the next question I asked for them for this group. Now that you know what your goals are and you know what you want and you create, be creating awareness around those self limiting beliefs and you've had a look back on 2018 and you've seen where you've not done the work in order to make those goals happen. This next question is really powerful and you really need to be super honest with yourself here. You guys, you're not fooling anyone, like the only person you're fooling is yourself. If you think that you can do what you did last year and get better results this year, looking at your goals for 2019, but awesome list of things that you made. What needs to change? What actions need to change in order for you to make that stuff happen? So you have to do something different in order to make these goals happen. So what is that going to be? You know, one of the things I wrote down in big capital letters and circled it was I need to do more. I need to show up more. I need to be more consistent for both my businesses. You know, I don't have the business that I technically want at this point in my time because I haven't done enough yet. I haven't shown up enough yet. I haven't given enough yet, so I need to do more. What do you need to do differently this year? Be more consistent. Talk to more people, do more asks. Do you need to put yourself out there? Get past the fears. Take action. Even though you're scared, build the brand, build a business, put yourself out there, believe in yourself. What do you have to do that's different in order to make that goal happen? In order to make those goals happen? You know, I had to, I have to remove distractions. I've become hyper aware of the things that I'm super distracted by. Social media, you know, just, just anything that's distracting me, I have to get hyper aware of that and take it out of my. Take it out of my zone when I'm trying to do my work. So what do you have to change? What has to be different for you in order to have this year be so spectacular? Your goals come to life, all of those things. I want you to think about that. What needs to change in order to make those things happen? Because here's the thing, I don't want you to regret having another year where it didn't happen again, right? I don't want people to live with regret and doing this hard self reflection. Inner work is where you're going to make the biggest shifts. It's not going to be in setting the goal again and not making a change internally. It's not going to be, um, you know, it's, it's just not. It's going to be inside you that needs to shift in order for you to do the things you need to do. You've got to get through the fear. You got to have the courage. You've got to have awareness of when you're not doing what you should be doing, of when you're having those negative thoughts. Uh, you know, all of those things that hold us back. You need to be aware of those things and then make the change. Right? So to wrap up this goal setting session, I had some points that I shared with them on how to do the work. So now that you know what you want, you know, what thoughts and things that you're sabotaging yourself with needs to change. You know what different actions you need to take this year by doing the self reflection, now it's time to do the work and what does that look like? Well, first of all, it's about reading your goal list two to three times a day, you know, being so hyper aware of your goals and getting insanely focused on them, almost like to the point of Obsession Tony Robins is that if you want something major to happened, you're like, you have to become obsessed with it. So what is the, what is the top one to two things on your goal list that you can get insanely focused on and really just keep driving that out until they're done right? So ingrain them in your brain, reading your affirmations daily, set reminders on your iphone, so your iphone, every hour it pops up with affirmations, reading them before you go to bed. Journaling about your goal, seeing them in your mind, rewriting your, your personal beliefs about yourself. I am statements. I am consistent. I am brave. I take action. What are those statements that you need to reprogram your brain with? Reading and writing those daily and I know that seems crazy like, oh my gosh, I need to read and write these two, three times a day if you want and you're serious about making the change and how you think repetition is the only way. So yes, you have to do that and I'm. I'll be the first to tell you I'm not perfect at it. I don't. Some nights I go straight to bed and I don't journal, but I have journals all over my desk and whenever I feel the need I can pop out a piece of paper. I know exactly what I need to write and I'm writing them as much as I can, so doing it even three times a week. If you have never done it before, that's going to be better than no times a week, so just make it a priority and do it as often as you can. I talked about creating a vision board and putting visions of visuals of your goals around everywhere you can to be reminded, consistently being reminded of what it is that you're working towards and becoming obsessed with that believe it's already done, so seeing it in your mind as it's already done. How many times can you visualize, you know, completing that goal. How many times can you just like close your eyes? If you can do this once a day for 10, 15 minutes and just close your eyes and visualize journal about it. When you're journaling, you're visualizing your goal as done. Seeing it as done, any of the big goals I've really, I liked that I've accomplished in my career. I have seen those goals as done in my mind before they, before they actually came to fruition and I even forget to do this sometimes. Sometimes I get so busy with all these things that I need to do that I forget to stop and really just see myself with a done in my mind and like, like, let that energy like feed off that energy. Do that for 10 minutes before you start your day, and then use that to do the work to take the action because you need to keep yourself number. This is another one on this list. Keep yourself in high vibration. You guys, if you were part of my masterclass, the science of achieving your goals, you'll know that we need to keep ourselves in a high vibration. That's how the law of attraction works. If you're feeling good and you're feeling positive and you're feeling joyful and you're feeling happy, you're going to attract back to you. Happy Situations. Um, the things that you need in order to accomplish your goals. You're going to attract back positive, good things to you and those positive good things are gonna help you in the pursuit of what it is that you want. Listen to the thoughts and ideas that come up when you're feeling good. Take action on those things. You guys, if you have these big goals and you're thinking about and you want these things to happen and you're in a shitty place, you're not going to get good ideas on, in order to help you with that. You need to keep yourself feeling good as often as possible and then be aware of what comes to you in those moments. When you're in a good spot and you get an idea or a person pops into your mind that you should talk to about your business or your opportunity or you get an idea for a podcast or a blog post, that's the time you need to pay attention to that idea and then make it happen. Take the time to do it because that's coming to you for a reason. It's there to support you in the pursuit of your goal. When you're feeling good and those ideas come, that's a positive thing and take action on that stay level through the ups and downs. You guys, here's the thing, your goals. If you really want them to happen, you can't give up on them. When things get shitty, don't quit. When Times get tough, don't quit. You know how many times I have gone through crappy things in my business? There's been times where people have quit where I felt like I had nobody left in my network marketing business to talk to, but yet I can still continue to keep going even through the shitty times because then I'm one, I'm proving to the universe and the laws of the laws of the universe that I'm committed to my goal, that I'm making it happen no matter what and I'm pursuing through the bad times, and guess what? Every bad time has an uptime. Every bad time has a good time, right? The law of rhythm, the pendulum's going to swing, so keep going because when things get good, you're not trying to catch up. You continue to keep working towards your goal and you're going to be a lot farther ahead. If you continue to keep working through the shitty times, then if you just quit, obviously if you quit, it's not going to happen, right? Or you're going to have to play catch up when you. When things start getting good and you're like, crap, I really do want this now. I got to catch up from that last time. Press the process. You guys in this, in the pursuit of these goals, trust the process. Everything has its time to germinate everything, every seed, every, every goal that you wrote down on that list is like a is like a seed that you've planted in each of those have their own germination time. We don't know what that is exactly. We just need to keep watering it and keep moving forward and it will. It will eventually sprout. It will eventually grow, so you just have to know that there's. You got to give your goals time and if your goal doesn't happen in the date that you've set for it, you don't change the goal. You changed the date. You just changed the date. It's not ready yet. It's not ready yet, so just keep going, keep working, keep watering it. It will happen. Just give it time and you guys, you have to take action. You can write all of these things down. You can visualize them. You can. You can write all the affirmations. You can do all of that internal work, but if you don't actually take action on the ideas and the thoughts and the things that you need to do in order to make your goals happen, they are not going to happen. You have to take action. You have to do the hard ass. You have to go out there and put yourself out there. You have to do the live video. You have to do the build the podcast. You have to build the business. You have to actually, you know, take the step and getting the brand developed. You have to do the work. It's not gonna happen just because you think it in your mind and you see it, but then you sit back and do nothing. It's not going to work. The law of attraction requires you to take action. You have to act on the ideas and the thoughts and the things that come to you and you have to persist through the fear that's being definite in your purpose and if you're definite in your purpose of what it is you want to achieve and you keep going, no matter what, you keep going, even if the thing fails or the person cancels or the idea just doesn't work, you keep going because another idea will come to you. You have to learn from those experiences because those, those are lessons in order to help you get better so that you can make the goal become a reality. You have to take action above all. And the last thing I'm going to stay here, and this was the last advice that I gave them in this, this journey of, of doing this goal and vision setting for 2019 was you have to enjoy the journey. You guys, it makes me cry. The journey is the is the, is the part. It's the thing. It's the thing that fulfills us. You know, I've been through a crazy past three years. You guys and I look back at those three years and even though there was a lot of shitty things that happened, a lot of moving around of my family, a lot of ups and downs and sideways and twists and turns, I wouldn't change it because I learned through those experiences, that journey was the fulfilling part to be able to say, hey, I did that. I got through that. I worked through that, and sometimes we're so excited to get to the goal that we missed the journey and we get to the goal and we're like, okay, well this is great, but it's not as exciting as I thought it was. That's because you missed the journey. The journey's the exciting part. Every little obstacle that comes your way. I mean, yeah, they're not all going to be fun and exciting, but look at it as, okay, this is here for a reason. This is here to teach me something. Learn, enjoy the process. Even though it may be a little bit tricky, there's something in there for you, so don't miss that. Don't miss the journey because you're so focused on the goal right? The journey is part of the goal. We want to become just as obsessed with the journey as we, as we do for the end game, for the end goal, the prize at the end. It's all, it's all part and parcel of this journey we're on. It all comes together and so often we can get so frustrated with the journey. We want the journey to be over. We just want to get to the end. But then you're missing the whole. The fulfilling part of achieving the goal is the journey. So enjoy it. It's the real prize for when you're going through these for new, when you're going for these goals. And so that's, that was my session and, and I felt that it was, it was a little different this year. Um, for me, even I was going through this and I was getting really hyper aware of myself and where I was. I was holding myself back and how I let fears and how I didn't make things priorities and how that affected my goals. And so I really encourage you to just be super honest with yourself and do this work. This internal work and then get excited, you know, it's going to be an awesome year. I don't know about you, but 2019. I just have such great feelings about where we're going this year. I feel like this is a year of growth. I feel like we've been through some crap. I talked to a lot of people, about 2018, even 2017, even 2016 for that matter and we've all been through stuff. It seems like there's a common theme and I feel like this is the year we get to reap the reward of, of going through the stuff we've learned, the lessons. It's time to show up. It's time to make it happen. It's time to enjoy, you know, the, the benefits of all the things that we've learned through going through those lessons. So I hope you found this valuable today. Guys. I hope that this has helped you really get in your own head and really look at what needs to change this year in order to make what you want to have happen happen. So that's it for me today guys. If so, I want to invite you to snag up my free video series on the top six things that I know for sure how it may crash. Some of the biggest goals in my business today, you can grab your very own copy and Sheena record.com. See you in the course. We'll talk to you soon. Bye for now.
