How the courts ruled that custom could over ride common law.  Based on a case in Nottingham 1327, where two borough existed in the city - the French Borough and The English Borough. The two boroughs had different rules of inheritance. The French borough favoured the eldest son while the English borough favoured the youngest.  The podcast looks at the layout of the old city, the logic behind Borough English and the difference it can make in your family history research
