ATD, SHRM Annual and Emotional Intelligence with Debbie Muno, Genos North America

The HR Gazette Season 1 Episode 572

In this employee development and EI-focused discussion, we consider the benefits of a highly emotionally intelligent workforce.

Listen too, as we talk about a couple of big upcoming #worldofwork events: the ATD Conference in May in San Diego and the SHRM Annual Conference happening in June in Las Vegas.

The returning guest is Debbie Muno, Managing Director at Genos North America and star of a new HRchat mini-series focused on EI and EQ that'll be launching very soon!

Questions for Debbie include:

  • Before we get into today's employee development and EQ-focused discussion, let's give a few mins to mention a couple of events you and the Genos North America team will be attending - ATD in May in San Diego and SHRM Annual in Vegas in June. Can you tell us what you'll be doing at each, who you hope to meet and what's the fit between the event brands and Genos?
  • Can you suggest two or three major outcomes from having a highly emotionally intelligent workforce?
  • You were keen to discuss the paradigm shift when it comes to perceptions of “average/ok” performance. Tell us more.
  • How did factors such as Great Resignation, quiet quitting and resenteeism feed into a need to retain one's average and best-performing employees?
  • Hiring for Emotional Intelligence: For those still losing employees, how can HR help companies account for EI factors in the hiring process and why should they?
  • In one minute or less, what are your thoughts on ways to help employees to better relate to each other and collaborate when many work in a multi-generational workforce?

If you enjoyed this episode with Debbie, you can also check out her previous appearance on the HRchat show - it's episode 466 - published back in August 2022.
