SPEAKER_01Well, hi there. Welcome back to another episode of the All Around Road Podcast. My name is Rob Kaiser and I am your host. Today is Tuesday, November 15th, 2022. And this is episode number 465 of a show where you join me with my family on our small farm as and homestead, where we talk about the five W's and how, as we all grow along with the family business here at York Meadow Farm. And speaking of the family business here at York Meadow Farm, it's time for a winter market update. Now, before we get into the winter market update and talk about some stories about how things came to be and some of the confusion about the markets and what exactly was this take, a brief moment to talk about the sponsor of today's show, who is York Meadow Farm. Now, for those who don't already know York Meadow Farm, right here, what we do, we produce handcrafted batches of probiotic rich fermented foods and natural bath and body products scented with pure essential oils. Now, what we do here, along with Cody and our other partners that we are working with, is we incorporate sustainable, organic, and regenerative practices into the food that is grown here and the products that are made. We have a new online store which allows everyone, everywhere, to order everything that people locally get here at the market, lacto fermented foods, natural bath and body products. You can get all that from the convenience of your own home, along with some cool merchandise, which is going to be uh there's going to be more of that as time goes on. So continue to check out the new merchandise page. And for those of you who are listening, and in this case watching, be sure to use the code all aroundgrowth at checkout for the remainder of the year. And until that code is no longer valid. What that will do is allow you to receive 25% off of all orders, no limits until otherwise mentioned. But that's a pretty substantial discount. At the very least, you'll get free shipping. All right. And you'll get free shipping with orders over 45 bucks anyway. So compound that with this 25% discount. It's a win-win-win. So if you like what you hear on the show, check out the links in the show notes and the description to see how much you can save on products that you are likely already using. I would also like to take a moment to thank Food Forest Farms for the support of the show, the encouragement to utilize this platform StreamYard and introduce the show to new audiences online, through YouTube, through all sorts of things. While this particular episode today, episode number 465, is not being live streamed. We will live stream an episode later in the week. And I will talk about that, what's upcoming later in the week, towards the end of the show. But uh many thanks to Food Forest Farms for all of the support with everything. So check out what's going on with Food Forest Farms in terms of coffee roasting, the Squash Fest next year, which is a summer solstice celebration of music, art, and light. You can learn more about everything going on with Food Forest Farms at Foodforest Farms.com. And uh I don't think I mentioned this, but as far as York Meadow Farm is concerned, Yorkmeadow Farm.com to learn everything about what's going on here. And uh also consider signing up for the newsletter here at Yorkmeadow Farm.com/slash newsletter. That will also give you the opportunity to um stay up to date with everything that's going on here. And speaking of staying up to date, that reminds me I need to get on the November newsletter, which is past due, my friends. I have uh seemingly forgotten about that or put that out of mind, and here we are, it's the second week of November, and uh we are well into the second week of November, and uh yeah, we gotta get that newsletter out technically. We are into the third week of November, everyone. So, anyways, uh enough on that. Let's talk about the winter markets and what's going on with that, shall we? Now the winter it's it's been a while since we've had a proper um farmers market update. Now uh last week on November 7th, we did a weekend market recap where we talked about you know, no markets, now what? And then previously on uh Monday, October 31st, we talked about the that episode was titled Goblins, Ghosts, and Goats and the second annual Fall Vendor Fest series. That weekend we had two markets that kind of wrapped up the busy month of October. And then we had a break, and we're still kind of in this break, except what we're doing is we are preparing for the upcoming markets. Now there was a little bit of confusion with the upcoming markets and the winter markets, and uh I am largely to blame for some of that confusion. And uh what I mean by that is we we we were, you know, the one market where we were a solid in and we were you know confident that we were going to be there because we were there last year, was the winter market at Richardson's. And we are very grateful for our friends over at the Richardson's for supporting us, carrying our product in their farm store, just being good friends, a good family, and someone we respect. And uh, you know, we value the relationship with them. So if they ever, if anyone from the Richardson family ever sees this or listens to this, uh, I just want to say thank you and uh let you know that we sincerely appreciate it here from our family to yours. Many thanks. And so we knew that we were going to be in there, and or at least we were confident that we were going to be in there. Uh, we were sent the application. I recently submitted that. And we've heard a lot of chatter about another market over at Boyart's greenhouse and farm, which if you're in Medina and you go towards Lodi, you will pass Richardson's farm right there on Lafayette Road. Now, if you're in Medina and you go straight south towards Seville, you will drive right past Boyertz on Route three. And Boyart's is a fairly large greenhouse, garden center. Um it's it's a yeah, it's a nice place. And we've heard a lot of chatter about the indoor market there. So we definitely wanted to explore that. And me being who I am and uh wanting to take the lead and get more involved, I I told dad that I got this, I got this, you know. I'll I'll I'll contact Matt over there. And you know what I did? I procrastinated. And I procrastinated. And then finally, there was a lot of talk about dates being set and vendors being contacted. And by that time, I'd already, you know, I'd been playing phone tag with him, and I'd talked to him on the phone once, and he said, you know, we've got to line up other vendors and get in there and uh make sure that things are squared away with everyone who's already and I didn't feel very comfortable after that conversation. And for those out there listening that are in the telegram group, you know exactly what I'm talking about because we had some dialogue about that there. I I just you know, not my proudest moment. So I had to report back to dad that I wasn't really sure what was going on. I ended up making a trip up there personally, but was unable to connect with uh the person responsible for the management of the market, but I did leave a card with someone else there. And then finally, um, dad went ahead and made a trip up there, connected with the person directly responsible for the market manager. And one of the things that he mentioned was when he learned that dad was the kraut guy, he said, Oh, we've been looking for you. Now it the the association with uh York Meadow Farm and the Kraut Guy wasn't really there, so we you know that that got me thinking a little bit about the the the the rebranding and whatnot discussions that we've been having in the past, but nevertheless we are in at uh boyart's and the very first um not necessarily a winter market because this this is a winter market update because we will be doing winter markets both at Richardson's and Boyert's, uh but there is a market at Boyart's this Saturday, November 19th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. And it is an event titled The Thanksgiving Farmers Market and this gives everyone in the community the opportunity to load up on all the fresh ingredients and farm-grown products to make your Thanksgiving meal a success. You can support all the local farmers and makers on Saturday, November 19th, between 9 and 12 to stock up on local produce, eggs, pastries, breads, and more. Um you can stay tuned on social media. You can follow Boyert's Greenhouse and Farm and see everything about this event on Facebook. So far, it looks like 638 people have responded to this event. And yeah, we are excited to check that out and see what that has to offer. So that's what's in store for this week. Um we won't really have a whole lot more going on for the month of November other than that. And and and and so we won't really have yeah, we won't really have much in in terms of markets until December, outside of this Thanksgiving winter market, this Thanksgiving farmers market, this Saturday at Boyert's. And then on Saturday, December 3rd, the first Saturday in December, we will be back at Richardson's where the winter market series will kick off. And then on Saturday, December 17th, there is another large winter farmers market. Uh, I believe it's titled the Christmas Farmers Market. Yes, the Christmas Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Boyart's Greenhouse and Farm. And on that day, Richardson's is also hosting a market, and we are going to try to be present at both markets, and we'll see how that goes. Uh, we may be a little thin with regard to personnel, and that may be a uh a tough day, but um we're gonna give it a shot, I think. We're gonna give it a shot and see what we can do because we want to get exposure as we continue to grow and thrive. So on December 17th, we will potentially be at two different markets on that same day. And there will be more uh updates in future episodes of the show as we get into more winter, you know, more weekend market recaps because next week we will most certainly have a winter market re or a weekend market recap rather on Monday to discuss what happened on Saturday just in a few days here at Boyart's. So stay tuned for that on next Monday, a weekend market recap to discuss the events and the market coming up this Saturday at Boyart's Greenhouse and Farm. And if you're in Northeast Ohio, I would encourage you to check out that event at Boyart's Greenhouse and Farm. I will link to that and everything else that was discussed in today's episode in the show notes. And I would just encourage you to check that out. Encourage you to sign up for the newsletter so that you can stay tuned for everything that's going on and more outside of what is being discussed here on the show. And as far as tomorrow's episode goes, we will be talking about spirituality and discussing some of the differences between churches, the Russian Orthodox Church, the the Byzantine Church, the Coptic Church, the Syrian, all these different Orthodox churches. These are these are different churches I've seen around in uh in Cleveland, in the Cleveland area, and uh some of the different churches that I've been attending in my own recent spiritual journey. So we're gonna talk a little bit about that tomorrow. And then on Thursday, we are going to do an episode on the Appalachian String Band Music Festival, otherwise known as Cliff Top. And we may do some live streaming on either one of those shows. I'm not entirely sure at this point in time, but I will make a decision on that today and be sure to communicate that with you so that you can tune in tomorrow for a live stream or Thursday for a live stream. And hell, for that matter, we might even go ahead and do the live stream on Friday to discuss the benchmarks and statistics and kind of have a celebratory live stream episode regarding the growth and development of the show as we continue to reach new platforms. And maybe maybe that's what I'll do is we'll just do a live stream on Friday and uh open up the open open up the live stream for anyone who wants to call in and talk about the show and how it's grown and how they themselves have participated in it, how it's contributed to the overall growth and development of their own lives. And I think that would be a fun thing. So let's, you know, as I'm as I'm thinking through this and talking through this today with you, why don't we go ahead and plan on that? So we'll just do a regular old episode tomorrow on the differences within the Orthodox churches. We'll go ahead and do a regular episode, if you will, on Thursday, talking about the Appalachian String Band Music Festival, otherwise known as Cliff Top, which I will be attending next year. And I'm very excited about that. I'm actually excited to talk about every episode this week with you. I was excited to share this episode today. Uh I'm excited to talk with you tomorrow about the some differences within the churches. I'm excited. I'm definitely excited to talk with you Thursday about Cliff Top and then Friday. That will give us some time to prepare and plan for this live stream and give everybody an opportunity to, you know, uh schedule accordingly if you want to call in and chat as well. So stay tuned for that, guys. And I look forward to catching you tomorrow, Thursday, and most certainly on Friday, as we will have the opportunity to connect together. So hopefully you can make it on Friday and stay tuned for details on that. Again, links to everything discussed today will be in the show notes. And stay tuned on social media for updates on Friday's live stream. You can find the show on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Float, Mi We, uh, all the different social media platforms. We are out there, and just simply search for all around growth, and you will find us there. I look forward to connecting with you online. I look forward to connecting with you later in the week. I hope you have a great day today, guys. This is Rob Heisman.
