The passion week had begun with crowds littering road with palm branches before King Jesus, and now we find Jesus talking in word pictures, calling his disciples to act like vine branches. So the Passion week moves from palm branches, known mostly for their shade & beauty, to vine branches, known mostly for their fruit. That’s the kind of branches Jesus calls his disciples to be: branches known for their fruit.
