Branden Hudson welcomes Brazilian jiu-jitsu professor and mentor Miles “Scoochie” Moffit, a four-stripe black belt who has trained for nearly 30 years in jiu-jitsu and since 1973 in martial arts. They discuss Moffit’s technical approach to everything from jiu-jitsu to pool, drywall, line striping, and tomahawk throwing, emphasizing drilling, mechanics, timing, and learning through losing. Moffit recounts his gym history in Salisbury, growth to 160+ students, his early YouTube efforts, and a line-striping video that went viral with 29 million views. He explains the split in which former students opened a nearby gym, took 18 students, and violated affiliation bylaws, and he addresses tensions, leadership, and misinformation. They also touch on Moffit’s patriotism, skepticism of media, and his current hobbies and social handles.
