What does it really mean to pray “in Jesus’ name”?

In this message from our series The Genesis & Authority of Prayer, we explore the biblical foundation of prayer through the lens of Jesus as our Great High Priest. In the Old Testament, access to God was limited and mediated through the High Priest, who entered the Most Holy Place once a year on behalf of the people.

But Hebrews 4 reveals that Jesus has entered God’s presence once for all—and now invites us to draw near with confidence.

Prayer is no longer based on our performance or worthiness. It is based on Christ’s finished work and His ongoing representation before the Father.
