Refuge Coffee is a unique coffee shop operated by unique residents of Clarkston, GA. Clarkston, GA, the most diverse square mile in the United States. Over 60 languages are spoken there & refugees make up over 1/3 of the Clarkston population. In this episode, the coffee company’s first trainee, Leon Shombana, a refugee from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, shares his experience as an immigrant in the American South. By contrast, Walt Anderson, a white Southerner who had never met a refugee prior to his experience at the coffee shop, shares the progression of his impression of immigrants.
