What up y'all? Welcome back to another episode of Culture Shock. I've been spoiling y'all this season. I think this is probably the most episodes I didn't drop since ever. But how y'all doing today? I hope today is going good. I want to appreciate y'all who everybody who streamed the previous episodes, the ones with Mark Merrill, Mustafa Ali, um, with the Hardy Boys, as well as the one I did about um being other people's relationships. I really want to appreciate y'all and say y'all thank you for doing everything and helping me feel motivated to continue to drop in this fire for y'all. And don't forget, you can go on culture shock on iHeartRadio with D Hops, as well as you can go on Hobbs725 on YouTube and D Hobbs Powers everywhere else on social media. They keep up to date on everything I got going on as far as the movies, new release music, newly released podcast episodes, events, all types of stuff I got into. So I want y'all to keep checking that out. So I'm gonna do this quick episode because I'm actually at work. Um, but this has really been on my mind to come out and do it, so I decided to come on my break and do it real quick. So this one's just called toxic relationships. And when do love becomes a battle? And I really, really want to hit hard on this because I see a lot of people on social media who praise toxic relationships or think this shit is cool, or think, oh yeah, my man would do this for me. I know he loves me. Oh, my woman crazy enough to fight any chick. Oh, she'll fight me. Oh, I know she loved me. Like, what is wrong with y'all? Like, toxic relationships can be complicated because they, you know, don't always start out toxic. Sometimes they begin with chemistry, you know, attention and laughter, and the feeling that you finally found someone who understands you. But you know, over time, unhealthy patterns can develop, you know, constant arguments, manipulation, disrespect, jealousy, and that controlling behavior, or just making someone feel like they're never good enough for you. The hardest part about recognizing a relationship has stopped being a source of support and started to become a source of distress, you have to open your eyes and just pay attention to the little things that you see build up. Because one of the biggest signs of a touch relationship is when you constantly feel like you have to walk on eggshells. You know, you're afraid to express how you feel because you already know it's gonna lead into an argument, and maybe everything becomes your fault, you know, your boundaries ain't respected, or the other person used guilt to get out their way, and I hate that. And I know a lot of y'all do too. And at that point, the question just becomes you know, are we actually building a relationship or we're just trying to survive each other? Another thing we need to talk about is when people say it's easy for outsiders to say just leave, but emotions, memories, attachments, and hopes can make the decision incredibly difficult. I understand that, but people often stay because they remember who that person used to be, or because they believe that things will eventually get better. But loving someone doesn't mean you have to accept being mistreated or their toxic behavior. Now, a healthy relationship should allow both parties to feel respected, heard, safe, loved, and free to be them true selves around you. Now, ultimately recognizing a toxic relationship isn't about blaming yourself or the other person for everything that went wrong or what is going on in the relationship, but it is about being honest, and you know what the relationship is doing to peace and your well-being. Sometimes a healthy decision is just creating distance or just setting the stronger boundaries, or sadly and simply just walking away from that situation. But love should challenge you to grow, but it shouldn't constantly make you question your worth of being with that person. So the real question is, do I love this person? Or sometimes you have to ask, is the relationship healthy for me? So if you have to ask any of those questions about your relationship, besides the fact that that person you with loves you and supports you 100%, maybe you need to question that relationship that you're in. And if you have to question that, then it sounds like you need some work to do. And I just wanted to drop that on you real quick. While I had a quick break at work, um, another thing, um, I did find a location that's willing to work with me and believe what I'm trying to do. So I am going to start hosting a men's mental health gathering, maybe once or twice a month, for two to three hours, um, maybe in a session. So we come in, fellas, we can come in, talk, vent, cry, pray. Just want to talk to somebody, get some stuff off your chest. You feel like you're not being heard. I want to build that brother's circle because truth be told, a lot of us need it. And key word, I said a lot of us. So I including myself. So if you're interested, let me know. From there, I'll get you signed up and keep it moving. But this has been another quick, dope segment, I want to say, of culture shock. So if you have any other questions, feel free to tap in with me. Hob725. Much love. Check out my new music as well. Y'all have a good day.
