The Culture Matters Podcast

Season 77, Episode 919: The Peterson Painting with Vinnie Candelore Part 1

Jay Doran Season 77 Episode 919

"Something we cannot see protects us from something we do not understand. The thing we cannot see is culture, in its intrapsychic or internal manifestation. The thing we do not understand is the chaos that gave rise to culture. If the structure of culture is disrupted, unwittingly, chaos returns. We will do anything - anything - to defend ourselves against that return." - Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief

Artist, entrepreneur, podcast host, Creative Director for 1Team Media, and founder of VC2ART Vinnie Candelore is joining us for a very special series of episodes we have coming over the next several days.  Vinnie was commissioned to create a painting to be presented to Dr. Jordan B. Peterson at this year's TAG event in Atlanta, Georgia.  Meant as a symbolic expression of the student to teacher relationship, Vinnie's painting is something that deserves to be discussed in earnest with the artist himself.  In this first episode, the focus is on art's meaning in the world and the culture at both the micro and macro level, the creative process, and what forms inspiration can take.  We hope you enjoy this episode of The Culture Matters Podcast and enjoy the forthcoming conversations with the artist, Vinnie Candelore.
