One headline about AI ethics can quietly trigger a full business identity crisis, especially when your products and client delivery are tied to a single platform. I’m telling the behind-the-scenes story of what happened when OpenAI privacy concerns hit while I already had multiple AI tools supporting my Human Design marketing work, and I realized I needed a path that felt more aligned and less dependent on ChatGPT.
I walk you through my Gate 3 reality: “difficulty at the beginning” in full living color. From a surfing trip in Sri Lanka to a sudden scramble for a platform-agnostic solution, I share how I rebuilt Sellina AI on a new system backed by Claude, why persistent memory and context matter so much for offer creation, and what it’s like to announce a beta to paying students only to watch bugs appear in real time. When memory threads vanish for users mid-session, it’s not just a technical issue, it’s trust, nervous system regulation, and leadership all at once.
You’ll also hear the part that surprised me most: even while I’m fixing stability around the clock, clients still get results. I share wins from students who build offers, write sales pages, and sign clients, plus how I’m thinking about the future of having a true AI marketing and sales team inside my ecosystem with Sellina and Frieda. If you build digital products, teach marketing, or want aligned entrepreneurship with real-world tech lessons, this is for you. Subscribe, share this with a friend who’s building with AI, and leave a review so more people can find the show.

Welcome And Why Alignment Wins
SPEAKER_00Hi, hi! Welcome to the Human Design for Marketing podcast. I'm your host, Yvette Mayer, and this show is for you if you're done with cookie cutter marketing and ready to build your personal brand in alignment with who you really are. I'm a marketing expert, human design nerd, and intuitive business coach who's helped hundreds of women just like you to elevate their frequency and activate their most magnetic personal brand. Each week we'll dive into practical tips, interviews, conversations, and more to help you create an aligned business, a positive contribution, and of course an abundant life. Let's dive in. Hello and welcome back to the Human Design for Marketing podcast. This episode is going to be a fun one for me to record because A, I don't have any notes. I'm in storytelling mode. B, I am sharing some chaos from my life in full gate three glory. But it's chaos that's been resolved, and I'm really excited to be on the other side of it where things get to be fun and we get to play, which is the higher frequency of gate three. So to preface this, your personality sun is the predominant frequency that you run. 70% of the energetic particles, they're called neutrinos, that run through you, come through you based on this particular placement in your design. It's a lot like your star sign. Now, obviously, there is so much more to unpack in your human design body graph for so many layers. However, this is a particularly important piece. And when it comes to arcaning, it is also, it's kind of like the story of your life. It's a thing that repeats and repeats and repeats over and over again. Now, my personality son is in gate three, which in human design is known as difficulty at the beginning. In the gene keys, yes, it has that frequency in the lower end, but it also has a gift
Gate 3 Difficulty At The Beginning
SPEAKER_00frequency of innovation and fun in the Ciddic expression, or playfulness, even like through the eyes of a child. And I like to remind myself that when the chaos is showing up, particularly as I go on a new adventure, that this is something I'm familiar with, and that the rewards are always worth the challenge. So let me take you back to March this year when I was in Sri Lanka on surfing retreat with my two amazing friends, Emma and Taylor. And Emma also has uh a human design business. She's in fact my mentor and has a bot which is known as Maggie. And I myself have many bots. So I started creating AI tools in late 2024. And since then, I have built six or seven different AI support tools. So the news broke in March that OpenAI had done some questionable things in terms of their relationships around privacy and around who they support.
OpenAI Privacy News Triggers A Pivot
SPEAKER_00I won't go deeper into it than there was a lot of pushback on OpenAI at the time, and this was breaking in the news while we were away surfing. So I had one of my clients connect in to me and say, What does this all mean? And what does it mean for the tools of yours that are built on Chat GPT? And that was the first I'd heard of it. So I started to kind of do a bit of digging, and I'm like, oh wow, this is huge. This is going to really impact my business. I didn't fully understand how, I just knew that I didn't feel aligned with some of the choices that OpenAI were making, and that beyond what I'd built to that point, I needed to start to look at solutions that were less dependent on any one platform. So I went and had a conversation with the other ladies who I knew would be equally as affected. And we kind of had this realization that when we got back from Sri Lanka, we'd have to dive into this. And then off we went in our separate directions. For me, I actually shared quite a lot of content around what was happening in AI at the at the time, and I started to make changes immediately, particularly to my lower IP products like Audience Cut Clarity Muse, where it was very much built on a detailed prompt versus Selena AI and Frida AI, which are high-level IP, multiple instructions imported, so many of my own files and methods that sit behind a paywall. And so looking for a solution for those more advanced tools, I knew it was going to take longer. So I focused on the ones that were fairly easy and I made them accessible immediately to use in any platform. And then as the weeks moved on, I kept looking and going down the rabbit hole for what would be a potential solution, primarily on Claude, where we were seeing that people were absolutely diving and thropping at some of the more sophisticated copywriting and ability to amplify your own voice versus uh what we have on OpenAI. And there really wasn't anything that was the same thing but available on Claude. Uh and there still isn't. It's not to say there won't be in the future, but there still isn't. And so I was feeling all sorts of like I don't know where this is going. Uh and then Taylor actually mentioned that she had found an answer. And I didn't want to like jump on that bandwagon, but I was like, if she's found an answer, I need to find my own answer. And I started coming up with some routes that I could take. And I even put a jobs spec onto Upwork looking for a developer that could help me go down one of these pathways, who came back to me and suggested that I use OpenAI on the back end of the solution she was building. And I'm like, that is exactly what I'm not intending to do. Then this is where it gets really fun. I'm feeling a bit defeated by it all. And I have a new puppy, Camilla, who she's heard me say her name. Uh I'm learning how to parent. And I was watching a YouTube video that night about puppy training, and an ad comes up for a platform that says that it can basically do exactly what I needed it to do. Like be a front-end app or website that connects into any other API, such as Clawed. And I'm like, what? Like I've literally manifested this right into my line of sight. Next morning, I get up, I dive into the platform. Within two hours, I have a working prototype. And I am absolutely mind-blown. Not only at the fact that I had created a working and operational new AI that was kind of platform agnostic, but
Building A Claude-Backed AI Platform
SPEAKER_00for now is back-ended by Claude, that was more powerful than the one that I built on OpenAI. And so I really focused on building out Selena, which is the sold-out offers GPT, or now no longer the GPT. I focused on Selena AI, knowing that I have over 40 live students in this program using the tool every day. And I spent the next week building not just the same thing but different, but a far more sophisticated tool because inside what is currently hosted on evetmayat.ai, the uh agents, let's call them, or the tools, have memory. They have context. Like it's not like using a GPT where you have to upload your information every time. No, no, no, no, no. This is so much more sophisticated and powerful. So within a week, I'm like so excited. Like, this is the best thing ever. I've got it, got it. I'm I'm ready. I'm gonna take it to my community. You know, I'd been testing it myself, I'd been getting my team to test it. We'd all been blown away. I'd actually built out two other experiences. So I had three functioning chat bots, uh, and all of them were delivering what I was like blown away by. And so I decided to announce to the sold-out offers crew that Selena AI was beta moving onto its own platform, hosted by eventmaya.ai. All of this was so exciting at this point, and then the difficulty began. So we went live on, I reckon it was about the 7th of April. It was about a week after I found the solution. And for the first couple of days, it was like, oh my god, epic. Everybody's like, this is so much better, loving the interface. Wow, blown away that she stores the memory. Um, I've added all these other functions to it as well, uh, that I won't even share here because it's super exciting for those that are actually on the inside. But um, they're features and benefits that I'm not sure any other tool has right now. Uh, so I'm doing all of this, I'm getting so excited. And then within a few more days, the bugs started to appear. And I want to be honest and say that a lot of the things were fixable quickly, and it's what you expect inside a beta experience. But the bigger issue that I had was there were layers of memory that for some users disappeared.
Beta Chaos When Memory Disappears
SPEAKER_00And this is like my worst nightmare. Like somebody is working deep in a session and they're building out their sold-out offer, they've built a sales page or a strategy for how they're going to take their offer to market, and then they log in the next day, and a whole thread they were working on is gone. That actually happened to more than one of my students. At which point, my nervous system went into complete overdrive. And I had spent over the last three, four weeks more hours than I care to recall in the back end of this system fixing and stabilizing the memory. Because it wasn't good enough just to like the pot's boiling over, I'm going to put a lid on it or change the jet, you know, that's that style of analogy. I had to get it to the point where it was reliable before I could get back to creating, before I could get back to having fun. Now, this hit me hard because I hadn't just built my own AI platform. I'd built a dream. I'd built what happens beyond Selena. This is going to scale my business to the next level. That's the level of dream that I was having. I have another AI name up my sleeve. I have new ways to enter my programs in my future. I've done all this big picture thinking. And then the thing is failing on my clients in real time. And I am not with Gate 3. I'm not the human that is going to come back and put a bow on this and say, of course, things happened in beta that needed to be fixed, but I am a legend who built my own AI platform, H55 in two days, and now it's humming. That's somebody else's story. My story is this. It was freaking messy. It sucked. There's so much difficulty involved in this process and so many moments when I wanted to quit. I actually did an Instagram post where I said that this week I went on to Claude and uploaded all of my financial position, superannuation, savings, shares, property, blah, blah, blah. All of it. Because I wanted to know if I could retire soon. And I was not lying. By the way, I could retire soon, but I couldn't maintain my quality of life as it is right now. And I've decided that I will not be retiring at least for five years when I could do that. So all of this is happening and I'm making fixes and it's working. And then I'm like three steps forward, two steps backwards. And this went on for weeks. And actually, I now know why. And I have come to a place where I'm very confident in the stability because I've learned so much in this process. Like I actually know exactly what was going on. So I would never make that mistake again. And if anyone wants to work with me on building out their own AI platform, I know exactly how to make it more robust and avoid the mistakes that I made from day one. Isn't that exciting? I would never have known all of this if I hadn't experienced it first hand. So that went on for a good three weeks. And during those three weeks, I've been working around the clock. And this is very different to how I speak about I have a freedom lifestyle, I work three days a week, I play golf, I surf like all of that is true, big picture. But these last few weeks, that has not been true. That has not been my experience. Yes, I have played golf at least twice a week, but it hasn't been from a place of freedom. It's like, I need to go and play because I'm so stressed and I just need to do something to find my zen. I need to connect to myself again. And if you asked my team, my whole mood, my energy, my optimism, everything has been crumbling. That's really where I've been. And it affected everything, right? Like my creativity was zapped, my energy was low. Um my hope, my vision, like all of it has been contracted during this period. And then finally,
Fixing Stability While Managing Burnout
SPEAKER_00finally, I want to say around 10 days ago, some fixes were made. I made, I never got help from another person, by the way, but I made some fixes and I got clarity on what was falling down, and I built a new way to work with the system, and day by day things improved, and not just improved short term, but stacked to the point when last week I was able to sort of step back and say there has not been a single platform error specific to memory for 11 days, and I've just improved it further again. And today, as I record, it is Monday, the 11th of May 2026. I have taken the word beta off the platform. I'm so freaking excited. I mean, the truth is, whilst I was having a meltdown and on the back end, I still had exceptional client success stories. I had this one awesome individual, Charlie, in the UK, who used Selena to build out her offer, write her sales page, and had two private clients join clients join her within a week while I was going through the mess. And I have had so many testimonials, like Leone, another awesome client, who has had quite a few runs at entrepreneurship and never really found her thing that sticks, that gives her confidence in a way until sold-out offers. And
Client Wins And The Platform Future
SPEAKER_00she's now like she's crediting Selena and myself for getting it to the point where she has no doubt anymore. Like she and the work she's doing is next level. Um and she literally said if it wasn't for Selena, this would not be the case. Like this is the thing that finally has worked for her. Again, this was happening whilst I was having issues. So it's really interesting to me that, and I think we all do this, I was able to hold the uh the gratitude and the excitement in and keep that kind of locked away whilst I gave all my energy to the stability and the improvements. And I did not let myself properly celebrate how freaking phenomenal this platform is until now. Uh till now. And now I really want to shout it from the rooftops because I haven't seen anything like this in the market. And sure there are other human design marketing platforms out there or or um other types of AI that are going to help you with your marketing and your offers. But mine is unique to me and my programs. You know, my work hasn't been built platform first, which most others have, which means they're trying to find or pull together so much functionality and streams of work and thinking into one um Swiss army knife. That is not the way that I've built. I have built really two incredible marketing and sales experts. Frida from the Frequency Project, built entirely on a program that has been running for three years, that is continually touted as the thing that finally got clients or helped clients take the next level when it comes to consistently being aligned to their energy, loving their marketing, and attracting clients with ease. That's what Frida does. She's not moved platforms yet, but she's already doing that. And then Selena, my second incredibly sophisticated body of work, or how do I put this? Selena only exists because I built sold-out offers by design. And now I think this was a first of its kind because I built this in April, May last year, so 2025, April, May, where the entire program was built hand in glove with AI. So every single module is designed to work with Selena, and she's programmed to meet you exactly where you're at, whether that is on your um picking your type of offer or creating the right content to grow demand of that for that offer in advance, whether it is actually building the program in a way that meets your energetic frequency and lands with the clients on the inside. I mean, Selena even goes as far as to help teach you how to create AI for your students. But see how it's very different? Like Selena is sales. I realized recently, and this is going to become part of my marketing, that Selena, the name Selena, S-E-L-L, I N A, was named because the first half of the word is sell. But I've realized recently that actually there's only one letter difference between Selena and selling. Swap the G for the A, and you get the genius of Selena. So, yes, I'm going to create some sort of mnemonic with this, um, where I like say selling AI and cross out the G and put the A because she's so freaking genius that that and that's what she's all about. So the future for my AI platform looks like your marketing and sales team. And there might be other parts of business that I tackle later, where Frida will be built on the frequency project and all about magnetic marketing by design based on your unique frequency. And Selena will continue to do what she's already doing on this platform, which is helping incredible humans just like you to create aligned, powerful, sellable offers that in a sorry, in a way that you feel like you have somebody on your team who's an absolute expert in the space supporting you every step of the way. And both of them have mentorship mode as well, by the way. So it's not just the practical, it's also sales and visibility mindset. It's also, these are the results. I wanted more, what happened? Help me analyze. Like that they do so much more than the practical side of marketing and sales. They go deep into the energetics, of course. They're human design powered. So that is my difficulty at the beginning story. Wow, what a ride. It took five full weeks from setting up the platform to being in the position to record this episode episode and be out of beta. And I can tell you, like in five years' time, I'll look back and like be like, why was I complaining? Five weeks. It took me five weeks and I was complaining. That's crazy. But while I was in it, the heaviness was real and the difficulty and the self-doubt. And you know, I started to think maybe I shouldn't have taken this on. Maybe I should have paid somebody to do it for me. That was very present and very real. And I'm also watching other people launch their um AIs thinking, and you know, I don't know what's going on on their back end, but I'm like, I've picked the wrong tool, I've done something wrong, like something's wrong here. And it wasn't. I just needed to find the right way to work with the tool that I chose. And now I'm really, really excited. Like now I'm in the in the phase of the project where I'm like, what else can she do that I haven't even dreamt up yet? And that is so empowering and is going to add so much value to you when you're inside these platforms with me. If you're not on the inside, keep close because there is a very cool opportunity coming in a couple of weeks that you are not going to want to miss. And I have never been so sure of making a claim like that as I am right now. That's it for this week. I will be back in your ears sometime real soon. By the way, way before I go, we are in um throat center season. And as you know, if you listened to my last episode, we also, from a transit perspective, have got throat center energy defined in everybody for the next few weeks. And for some of us who do not usually have consistent access to our throat, we have now the 20 uh on in Uranus for the next year. And for me, that means I actually, because I have the 34, I have the 3420 on for the next 12 months. And I'm feeling more like podcasting than I have in a really long time. So this is my second episode in under two weeks, which is a real anomaly given how frequently I've been recording lately. But I have a feeling that you're going to be hearing form from me for or a lot more frequently, is what I would say, over the coming year. So uh yeah, I'll
