And at"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":150.89,"endTime":153.35,"body":"that point, basically, as a"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":153.35,"endTime":156.32,"body":"volunteer Warden, I went on a"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":153.35,"endTime":156.32,"body":"lot of the guided walks and"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":156.32,"endTime":158.39,"body":"things and they were good, you"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":156.32,"endTime":158.39,"body":"know, they were all good. But"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":158.39,"endTime":162.26,"body":"for some reason, this one just"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":158.39,"endTime":162.26,"body":"was, wow. Also, it confirmed what"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":162.26,"endTime":165.77,"body":"I'd always suspected, which is I"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":165.77,"endTime":170.51,"body":"could hear a lot of the bats. So"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":165.77,"endTime":170.51,"body":"certainly at that age, 1516"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":170.54,"endTime":174.29,"body":"years of age, I could, you know,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":170.54,"endTime":174.29,"body":"hear the knock jaws and not the"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":174.32,"endTime":177.56,"body":"pipistrel feeding calls and"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":174.32,"endTime":177.56,"body":"social calls and things like"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":177.56,"endTime":179.9,"body":"that. But actually, these people"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":177.56,"endTime":179.9,"body":"are actually able to tell me"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":179.93,"endTime":183.8,"body":"what I was hearing, which is"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":179.93,"endTime":183.8,"body":"very exciting. And this clearly"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":183.8,"endTime":186.8,"body":"enthused me a lot, I was quite"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":183.8,"endTime":186.8,"body":"nerdy as a teenager and went off"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":186.8,"endTime":190.4,"body":"and built myself one of those"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":186.8,"endTime":190.4,"body":"kit magenta back detectors to"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":190.4,"endTime":192.71,"body":"get the physics teacher at"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":190.4,"endTime":192.71,"body":"school to help me finish it off,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":192.71,"endTime":196.28,"body":"because I've done something"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":192.71,"endTime":196.28,"body":"wrong. And so I went back the"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":196.28,"endTime":199.67,"body":"following year, and they were"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":196.28,"endTime":199.67,"body":"kind of all this kids keen sort"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":199.67,"endTime":201.95,"body":"of thing. But I remember"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":201.95,"endTime":205.34,"body":"having a conversation with the"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":201.95,"endTime":205.34,"body":"park manager about it and and"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":205.34,"endTime":208.07,"body":"saying, I think I think there"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":205.34,"endTime":208.07,"body":"was a different way of"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":208.07,"endTime":211.55,"body":"delivering this, I think it can"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":208.07,"endTime":211.55,"body":"be, we've got a very sort of"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":211.55,"endTime":215.15,"body":"Cosmopolitan population close"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":211.55,"endTime":215.15,"body":"to, you know, got Manchester,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":215.15,"endTime":218.75,"body":"Liverpool, for a small part"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":215.15,"endTime":218.75,"body":"small deer park an awful lot of"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":218.75,"endTime":221.9,"body":"people. And so I think I"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":218.75,"endTime":221.9,"body":"suggested there was perhaps a"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":221.9,"endTime":224.24,"body":"different way of delivering it,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":221.9,"endTime":224.24,"body":"and we could reach out promote"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":224.24,"endTime":227.75,"body":"it better. I think I just"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":224.24,"endTime":227.75,"body":"literally got this huge"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":227.75,"endTime":232.16,"body":"excitable bug about it, you"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":227.75,"endTime":232.16,"body":"know? And he said, Okay, what"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":232.16,"endTime":235.7,"body":"you can do next year that, so he"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":232.16,"endTime":235.7,"body":"kind of gave me a year. So I"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":235.7,"endTime":241.28,"body":"think age 17, I gave my first"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":235.7,"endTime":241.28,"body":"guided bat work. And that wasn't"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":241.28,"endTime":244.04,"body":"so much me. I mean, you know,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":241.28,"endTime":244.04,"body":"back back groups ebb and flow,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":244.04,"endTime":247.43,"body":"don't they? And I think I think"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":244.04,"endTime":247.43,"body":"the, the, the group that was"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":247.43,"endTime":250.13,"body":"doing it at that point, they I"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":247.43,"endTime":250.13,"body":"think they found it difficult"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":250.13,"endTime":252.29,"body":"was outside of their area and"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":250.13,"endTime":252.29,"body":"that sort of stuff. But"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":269.57,"endTime":274.7,"body":"what what an amazing start, and"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":274.7,"endTime":277.46,"body":"then I went to Aberystwyth"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":274.7,"endTime":277.46,"body":"University and studied"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":277.46,"endTime":280.97,"body":"countryside management and my"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":277.46,"endTime":280.97,"body":"lecturers sort of said, Don't do"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":280.97,"endTime":283.85,"body":"bats, you got a lot of knowledge"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":280.97,"endTime":283.85,"body":"about bats try and do something"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":283.85,"endTime":286.25,"body":"different. But I just knew that"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":283.85,"endTime":286.25,"body":"the only way I would really"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":286.25,"endTime":291.53,"body":"manage my dissertation was to do"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":286.25,"endTime":291.53,"body":"on bats. I knew I'd actually get"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":291.53,"endTime":295.58,"body":"it done if I did that. So I"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":291.53,"endTime":295.58,"body":"spent a whole summer doing doing"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":295.58,"endTime":299.09,"body":"surveys looking primarily at the"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":295.58,"endTime":299.09,"body":"weather and the and the impact"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":299.09,"endTime":301.49,"body":"on bat activity. At that"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":299.09,"endTime":301.49,"body":"property that national trust"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":301.49,"endTime":305.03,"body":"property and another one so so"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":301.49,"endTime":305.03,"body":"Country Park, very close to"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":305.06,"endTime":310.49,"body":"Manchester Airport. And in doing"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":305.06,"endTime":310.49,"body":"so I was I was doing I think I"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":310.49,"endTime":314.6,"body":"did 444 nights a week and two"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":310.49,"endTime":314.6,"body":"Don's a week throughout the"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":314.6,"endTime":320.18,"body":"whole summer, and I'd recently"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":314.6,"endTime":320.18,"body":"been on a workshop in the Lake"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":320.18,"endTime":324.92,"body":"District with Tony Hutson."},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":320.18,"endTime":324.92,"body":"Tomic, how it took me Tomica it"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":324.92,"endTime":328.07,"body":"gave me a lift there. Before I"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":324.92,"endTime":328.07,"body":"even really knew him. I rang up"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":328.07,"endTime":332.12,"body":"this guy called Tom. And he"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":328.07,"endTime":332.12,"body":"said, I can pick you up and give"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":332.12,"endTime":336.26,"body":"you a lift because I didn't have"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":332.12,"endTime":336.26,"body":"a car. And there was some of the"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":336.47,"endTime":338.63,"body":"I think Dutch bat workers. I"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":336.47,"endTime":338.63,"body":"don't really remember,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":338.63,"endTime":340.67,"body":"unfortunately, I wish I did,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":338.63,"endTime":340.67,"body":"because I'd like to thank them."},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":341.18,"endTime":344.54,"body":"teaching us about backtracking."},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":341.18,"endTime":344.54,"body":"Yeah. But I"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":355.28,"endTime":359.12,"body":"employed the same technique and"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":359.12,"endTime":363.23,"body":"found a lot of roosting trees,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":359.12,"endTime":363.23,"body":"particularly at Dunham Park. And"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":363.23,"endTime":367.07,"body":"I think it was like 4748 roofs"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":363.23,"endTime":367.07,"body":"or something.
