Back when the"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":187.56,"endTime":192.06,"body":"cameras that we flew on our"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":192.06,"endTime":194.37,"body":"heads were the big giant ones. I"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":192.06,"endTime":194.37,"body":"was training with Bob Haller to"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":194.37,"endTime":198.06,"body":"get on the STARS team. And I got"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":194.37,"endTime":198.06,"body":"in a really bad parachuting"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":198.06,"endTime":202.14,"body":"accident broke my spine. Just"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":198.06,"endTime":202.14,"body":"prior to that I had selected for"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":202.14,"endTime":205.14,"body":"the 24 when they were doing this"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":202.14,"endTime":205.14,"body":"whole new concept called Green"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":205.14,"endTime":209.01,"body":"Team. And they said hey, you can"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":205.14,"endTime":209.01,"body":"still come to Fort Bragg but you"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":209.01,"endTime":211.47,"body":"could go across the street and"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":209.01,"endTime":211.47,"body":"teach until you can get returned"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":211.47,"endTime":213.69,"body":"to duty with this pretty nasty"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":211.47,"endTime":213.69,"body":"back injury. And I'm like, I'll"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":213.69,"endTime":217.62,"body":"do it. And that was the end of"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":213.69,"endTime":217.62,"body":"my operational career in the"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":217.62,"endTime":220.5,"body":"beginning of my teaching career,"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":217.62,"endTime":220.5,"body":"because I never got back on"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":220.5,"endTime":224.25,"body":"status. So I did go to Fort"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":220.5,"endTime":224.25,"body":"Bragg I was there from 99-2002"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":224.25,"endTime":226.74,"body":"where I where I was the PJ"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":224.25,"endTime":226.74,"body":"instructor at the Joint Special"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":226.74,"endTime":229.62,"body":"Operations medical training"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":226.74,"endTime":229.62,"body":"center. And then in 2002,"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":242.28,"endTime":244.44,"body":"I was tapped on the shoulder and"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":242.28,"endTime":244.44,"body":"said, Hey, the Air Force is"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":244.44,"endTime":247.23,"body":"wanting to pull out of this"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":244.44,"endTime":247.23,"body":"school. And it a lot of had to"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":247.23,"endTime":249.75,"body":"do with the paramedic, the army"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":247.23,"endTime":249.75,"body":"was getting rid of the paramedic"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":249.75,"endTime":253.98,"body":"because 911 of course happened."},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":249.75,"endTime":253.98,"body":"And we required the paramedic."},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":254.55,"endTime":258.15,"body":"And so I moved out to"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":254.55,"endTime":258.15,"body":"Albuquerque and helped stand up"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":258.15,"endTime":261.75,"body":"the at the time, the active duty"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":258.15,"endTime":261.75,"body":"Air Force paramedic program that"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":261.75,"endTime":263.22,"body":"we thought was going to be"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":261.75,"endTime":263.22,"body":"really awesome. And then we"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":263.22,"endTime":266.49,"body":"learned, wow, there's no people"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":263.22,"endTime":266.49,"body":"around to teach this stuff"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":266.49,"endTime":269.58,"body":"because there's a pretty serious"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":266.49,"endTime":269.58,"body":"war going on. And we contracted"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":269.58,"endTime":274.98,"body":"that out. And then in 2004,"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":269.58,"endTime":274.98,"body":"really late 2003 I could not get"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":274.98,"endTime":277.83,"body":"returned to duty. I ended up"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":274.98,"endTime":277.83,"body":"switching over to being a"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":277.83,"endTime":280.17,"body":"regular Air Force medtech"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":277.83,"endTime":280.17,"body":"because I was right at about"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":280.17,"endTime":283.32,"body":"that 10 year mark and I made"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":280.17,"endTime":283.32,"body":"that decision. Like I'm in it, I"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":283.32,"endTime":287.37,"body":"might as well stick it out. And"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":283.32,"endTime":287.37,"body":"I went to Korea as a regular Air"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":287.37,"endTime":291.84,"body":"Force. medtech about six months"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":287.37,"endTime":291.84,"body":"into that I realized, wow, I"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":291.84,"endTime":294.57,"body":"need to stay around my"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":291.84,"endTime":294.57,"body":"community. I didn't do well and"},{"speaker":"Brent","startTime":294.57,"endTime":294.87,"body":"the rest of"},{"speaker":"Aaron","startTime":295.2,"endTime":297.99,"body":"these decisions.
