So basically: another normal day in Air Force Special Warfare.
The boys talk through why these rumors come in waves, why group chats melt down every few months, and why none of this is new. PJs were supposedly going away for years. SOWT became SR. ACC, AFSOC, SOCOM, funding lines, manning positions, beret colors, and capability fights have been part of the background noise forever.
Trent breaks down the actual questions that matter: is the Air Force trying to delete the career field, or is SOCOM deciding it no longer wants to fund that capability from the Air Force? If the money goes away, does it move to another service, back into Special Tactics, or somewhere else entirely?
The crew also gets into the bigger issue: capability matters more than branding. The Air Force still needs people who can operate in the electromagnetic spectrum, employ drones, support rescue, help small teams find people and things in places they should not be, and bring future-facing capability into the fight. Whether that person wears one color beret or another is not the point.
They also talk about old programs that got killed too early, drone capability, how the Ukraine fight exposed what could have been built years ago, and why special operations has a bad habit of preparing for the last war instead of the next one.
Bottom line: do not stop training. Do not spiral because a group chat caught fire. If SR changes, the need for hard, smart, capable Airmen does not disappear. Combat Control will still need help. Special Tactics will still need capability. The Air Force will still need people willing to be useful when everything gets weird.
