Every now and again events happen that have a dramatic affect on who we are and how we see ourselves. This week we celebrate one of these events, The Reformation. The reformation celebration is about celebrating the very fact that our future with God is not dependant on our works, our achievements, our intellect, our wealth, our family, our position in society, or even how dedicated we are....rather it is about celebrating the truth that Jesus shares with us in John 8:36 that we have been set free, from sin determining our future, from death being our future and Satan determining our future, and instead Jesus determining our future. This was what a number of reformers rediscovered and made central again to the church's teaching.
