Influencer Entrepreneurs: Marketing Tips to Make You More Visible

The Mid-March Moment: When Intention Meets Reality

Subscriber Episode Jenny Melrose: Business Strategist Episode 63

Subscriber-only episode

As March progresses and Q1 draws to a close, it's the perfect moment to honestly assess your 90-day goals and recalibrate for success. Some of you are sailing smoothly past your targets, while others are wondering how those carefully crafted January goals vanished amid unexpected surgeries, family obligations, or sudden business opportunities.

This critical juncture isn't about self-criticism – it's about learning and adapting. Take a hard look at your Q1 data: Which strategies delivered results? Did you allocate sufficient time for key objectives? Were there tasks that consumed far more hours than anticipated? Most importantly, did you succumb to "shiny object syndrome," constantly adding new projects that derailed your original priorities?

My own business journey showcases the power of strategic pivoting. Though I began 2023 focused on podcast growth, I've since committed to YouTube for the next six months. This wasn't an impulsive change but a calculated response to evolving market signals.

Speaker 1:

It is officially past the middle of March, which means we are almost done with Q1. And many of you probably wrote your 90-day goals with the intention of getting them done in Q1. Some of you may be feeling like I'm hitting those goals, I'm above where I need to be, I am doing great. Now what Others of you may feel like? I set these goals and totally forgot about all of the different things that I needed to get done Speaking, gigs and surgery, and family and illnesses that pop up. So you're thinking, okay, I'm not even close to hitting these goals. This is a great time to go back and set your next set of 90 day goals. Look at what you had for the first quarter and tweak what you need to tweak in order to continue moving forward. Look at the data that you have. What's been working with what you have been working on. Did you set enough time aside with the expectation that you were going to be able to hit these goals and get those tasks done? Were there certain tasks that took so much longer than you thought that they were going to? Or did you add projects to your plate because it was a shiny object or seemed like it was the fire that needed to be put out at that time, or seemed like it was the fire that needed to be put out at that time. I want you to go and look at those 90-day goals and fix them, move forward with them for Q2 and set your next 90-day goals, starting with April 1st. Take a look at where you are right now, how close you are. Is that the same direction that you want to go in? Have you pivoted? Have you changed what you think you were going to put your time and effort into?

Speaker 1:

Personally, I have pivoted. I went into Q1 thinking I was going to continue to focus on podcasts and getting on other people's podcasts, when in reality, I have committed to YouTube and I plan to commit to YouTube for the next six months. Many of you have heard me talking about this. I am putting out the content. I am staying to a content plan for it, because this is the direction that I know I need to go, and I feel that the writing is on the wall that a lot of us need to be thinking about. How can we speed up that process with our audience? How can I get in front of them with video content?

Speaker 1:

Now, if that's not part of your plan. There's nothing wrong with that. What is part of your plan? What projects are you going to pick up for Q2 or continue? It doesn't have to be a total scrap it. I'm starting a new thing and this is direction I'm going. You very well could be continuing on the path that you're on, making smaller tweaks, pulling levelers to make sure that you are making it even tighter.

Speaker 1:

Now, if you haven't already grabbed my 90-day plan program, this will help you create those 90-day plans for the next 90 days so that you can get Q2, start it off on the right foot, picking up where you are and knowing and learning from the data that you have found of what's working, how you can fix it, how you can make it better.
