Influencer Entrepreneurs: Marketing Tips to Make You More Visible
Why Your Business Needs You to Put Yourself First
Success in business begins with taking care of yourself. Drawing from years of mastermind facilitation, I've noticed a clear pattern: entrepreneurs who prioritize self-care consistently outperform those who sacrifice their wellbeing for their business.
Today, I'm sharing three powerful self-care strategies that form the foundation of sustainable business growth. First, get active—whether through morning workouts, walks in nature, or any movement that gives your brain space to reset. I share my personal routine of early morning weight training and how establishing clear boundaries around this time has transformed my productivity and mindset.
The second strategy focuses on intentional breathing techniques to manage stress and regulate your nervous system. From box breathing to the surprisingly effective practice of "blowing raspberries" before recording content (yes, really!), these simple tools help you stay centered when business challenges arise. Learning to calm your nervous system prevents the fight-or-flight response that clouds judgment and depletes energy.
Finally, I emphasize the vital importance of cultivating meaningful female friendships. Every entrepreneur needs supportive women who understand both business challenges and personal life stages—from raising children to navigating hormonal changes. These connections provide crucial sounding boards and prevent the isolation that often accompanies entrepreneurship.
Start implementing these practices weekly until they become natural habits. Your business deserves the best version of you—centered, supported, and physically well. One of the things that I always focus on in my masterminds is I always ask, after we've gone through the goals, and what they have set for the week previously is what they have done for themselves. And today I want to share three different ideas of what you can be doing for yourself so that you can feel grounded, you can make better strides forward in your business and feel accomplished for the day. The first one is to get active. I don't care how you are getting active. Find a way to be active, whether you are going and going for a walk, you're walking the dogs, you're listening to audio books, listening to a podcast or, for heaven's sakes, just walking and taking a deep breath and enjoying the surroundings. I don't know about you, but down here in the South, everything is starting to bloom, which, of course, will drive our dreams crazy, but at the same time, it's really pretty and it's fun to notice the trees and the flowers and everything that's starting to bloom. So just pay attention to your surroundings and don't necessarily don't let your brain go bananas. It is your time for you. If you like to work out, lift weights, go for a run, get on the bike, whatever it is that you can do, so that you are not letting your brain go a thousand miles a minute and you are just working on yourself and taking that time for yourself.
Speaker 1:I have learned personally that the best time for me to work out is first thing in the morning. I get up and I head downstairs, let the dogs out and then I head into the garage and I take 30 minutes to lift weights, two different body parts, and make sure that it's done before everybody comes downstairs. And I do that even over the summer. I'm not getting up before everybody else necessarily, but my girls have both learned that if mommy's in the garage working out, you are not to interrupt. That is my time, and they have known that for quite some time that if they see me working out, don't interrupt because I'm not going to reply. To the best of my ability I'm likely going to be a little grouchy. So give me that time and let me finish working out. So the first one is to make sure that you're being active.
Speaker 1:The second is is to take the time to breathe. One of the ways that I have noticed this the most is now with my oldest daughter starting to drive. I have to get my adrenaline down in situations and do some box breathing In four hold your breath, out four, hold your your breath and just getting the air through your lungs and taking that time to take a deep breath. I actually recently learned a new strategy from someone that's going to be coming on the podcast soon. Lahana came and did a podcast interview with me and she was talking about one of the best things that you can do before video or before recording anything whether it's a podcast or video is to like make raspberries with your lips, and that is what I have started doing. Instead of cussing and getting frustrated because I am messing up on recording, I will stop and just start blowing raspberries Like I am a three-year-old. It helps your nervous system. It helps you relax and kind of get back to neutral. So take time to breathe, do your raspberries, make noise, hum, do something that is taking the nervous system away from that high adrenaline that's forcing us into fight or flight and just pushing us over the edge.
Speaker 1:The third is to find a woman friend, someone that you can commiserate with. Talk about business, talk about the kids, talk about your partner. Find someone that can support you in your personal life as well as business. Sometimes they're going to be the same people. Sometimes they're going to be a little bit different. Not everyone is going to understand your business the way that others that run an online business are going to understand it. So you need a mastermind. Fill out an application. Let's get you into a group if you're not already in one.
Speaker 1:But in your personal life, you need to have that outlet, those girlfriends that you can talk to about certain things that are going on in your life, whether it's the kids aging, going off to college or having babies at home and not understanding if they're teething or not sleeping through the night, or if it's perimenopause or menopause and the hormones and not knowing what's wrong with your body.
Speaker 1:I think that we oftentimes get into stages in our life where we put our head down and we push through, and if we would just look up and look around us, at the people that we support, want to support us, we would have sounding boards, we would have people that understand what we're going through, and if you can share that, not only is it going to help you, but it's going to help her or them as well. So I want you to take these three things. I want you to start implementing them at least weekly so that it can become part of your normal routine and can help you get to a place where you feel more balanced in business and in life. If you haven't already filled out an application for Insiders Retreat and you're thinking you want to go, I would highly recommend you do so before we fill up. It's an in-person event and we are going to be creating that 90-day plan for 2026.
