Most ambitious entrepreneurs experience that tension between craving fresh challenges and wanting a stable business model. The good news? You don't have to constantly reinvent your entire business to experience growth. This episode explores the powerful concept of strategic addition – how placing smaller "cogs" in your business machinery can tighten the entire system without requiring a complete overhaul.
We dive into practical examples, like implementing a five-day challenge that naturally guides participants toward existing products rather than creating something entirely new. This approach satisfies that entrepreneurial itch for creativity while strengthening your core offerings and simplifying the customer journey. Think of it as installing a perfectly-sized connector that closes gaps in your business machinery, making the path from prospect to customer more direct and frictionless.
The goal isn't working harder to crank a clunky business model – it's strategically enhancing what already works. This mindset shift from "always creating new" to "strategically improving what exists" can transform both your business results and your entrepreneurial satisfaction. If you're ready to identify which areas of your business need tightening and could use outside perspective, consider joining one of our intimate mastermind groups where 5-6 women entrepreneurs dive deep into each other's businesses. I am absolutely the type of person that if I feel like I'm not doing something new something that's making me nervous, something that's making me get that like queasy feeling in my stomach, as if I'm not being challenged then I feel like I'm just being stagnant. That is the way that I feel in my personal life and definitely in my business, but this does not mean that I have to reinvent something new every single time. Instead, what we need to do is look for ways that we can revitalize what we already have, whether you're going to put something in place to then hype up what you already have. So let's say, for example, you wanted to do a challenge, a five-day live challenge that is then going to promote your product or service that goes hand-in-hand with what you've done in that five-day challenge. That's not putting something new into place. That's going to make things harder. It's putting something into place that, then, is promoting something that you already offer. So, even though I'm getting my fill for creating something new and getting that queasy feeling of how is this going to work out, is this going to be exactly what I want it to be, and the adrenaline rush of getting another product completed or another project, I should say that's okay, because it's still fulfilling the need of engagement with my audience and their trust with me, because they'll get a transformation from that newer, smaller piece that I'm putting in place, and it's like a cog that's put in place to tighten it.
Speaker 1:I don't know if you've ever remember I remember there was this toy that my kids had that had all these little cog pieces. They were different colors, but you could put the colors into play and some were bigger and some were smaller and there were only certain ones that went into place and it would tighten it to make it more difficult for all of the pieces to move together. Well, that's what you're looking to do. You're looking to make it so that you don't have to work so hard to maybe crank something because you've put a smaller cog in place and now it's tightened up that distance that you had from one product to the next. This is what we want to start to think about. So if you are like me, where you love putting together new pieces, new cogs, into the overall mechanics of your business, don't be afraid to do that, but make sure that when you're doing it, it brings them to another product, it brings them to another service. It brings them to the overall feel of your business so it can create excitement to then get them to that paid product or service that is like further along in the funnel. It's just that cog that connects it to make that path that much straighter, that much easier for them to get from the beginning of your funnel towards the end.
Speaker 1:If you are trying to figure out the best way to tighten the cogs within your business, what levers to pull and you could use some support, you definitely want to join one of my masterminds, the mastermind programs that I run. I bring together five to six women and we dive deep into each other's businesses, asking questions, really looking at all of the pieces that go into your business, the cogs that have to be moved, and you can get new ideas to give you that feeling that you're often looking for, for that adrenaline of knowing that you're putting something in place that is going to have a transformation and improve upon your overall business structure.
