Take a moment to reflect: who are the five people closest to you? More importantly, what specific roles do they play in your life and business? This reflective journey explores why surrounding yourself with the right people is crucial for both personal fulfillment and business growth.
Your inner circle should include specific archetypes: the challenger who pushes your boundaries, the loyal listener who provides unconditional support, the carefree sidekick who lets you be your authentic self, the problem-solver who offers practical wisdom, and someone you genuinely aspire to become. Without this balanced support system, entrepreneurship becomes unnecessarily difficult and burnout becomes almost inevitable.
Most business owners don't realize these relationships don't happen by accident - they require intentional cultivation. Surprisingly, the most valuable connections in my life formed only within the last five years, proving it's never too late to build your ideal support network. Even more fascinating? Only one person in my closest circle works in a field similar to mine, yet they all contribute uniquely valuable perspectives that enhance both my business decisions and personal wellbeing.
Whether through structured masterminds or organic connections, surrounding yourself with the right people transforms your entrepreneurial experience from lonely to supported. Your success is directly influenced by who you allow into your inner circle - choose wisely and watch both your business and life flourish beyond what you thought possible.
I'm clearly in a state of reflection, so you're going to have to bear with me if you're not one to want to reflect, but I want to push you to do so. Who are the five people that are closest to you? And are those people ones that are challenging you, ones that are there, that are going to listen to you, one that's going to give great advice and problem solve? One that are there that are going to listen to you? One that's going to give great advice and problem solve? One that is going to push you to the next level like you never even thought possible? And is one, just one that you strive to be? You want to be her when you grow up.
Speaker 1:The five people that you surround yourself with have to play a role in your life. They need to play a role not only in your personal but also in your business life, because if you don't get that balance between personal and business, it's very difficult to not get burnt out. So I want you to think about who are the five people that are closest to you. I want you to categorize them and look and see how they are supporting you. I can tell you that there are five women in my life, and each one of them supports me at a different level. One challenges me. One is always there to listen, and if I needed her to lay down in traffic for me, she absolutely would. Another is there to be my sidekick, to giggle and be stupid and not have to think about anything serious, because sometimes you know what y'all we need, that we need that person that doesn't cause you to think big, but just lets you be and lets you be who you are the stupid, the silly, the not always able to come up with a clear thought type of person that you know you could rely on to call and just shoot the shit with. It doesn't matter. And really think about who these people are to you and why you are surrounding yourself with them. And if these people are not people that are playing a role and supporting you in some way in your life, I want you to find those that can.
Speaker 1:This wasn't something that happened overnight for me. These aren't women that I grew up with, that I was friends with in high school, that I was friends with college. These are women that have come into my life since COVID which is so weird to say because that was only five years ago but they play such a huge role in my life. Each one of them plays a part, and I don't even think they always realize it. I don't think that they know how much I truly appreciate them, and I want you to find those people for you. Some may, out of those five, there may be one that plays a bigger role than the other, and it may be more in your business than it is in your personal life, while someone else may play a much larger role in your personal life than they ever will in your business, and that's okay. Having those people to surround yourself with is only going to be able to lift you up.
Speaker 1:Too often I hear women entrepreneurs telling me that they feel lonely, telling me that they don't have anyone to ask questions to, that there's no one in their life that understands them or what they are trying to build, and I think that it's really important that you have this and if you are looking for those business people, get in a mastermind, if you haven't already joined one. The masterminds that I facilitate help provide this for you on a business level, and then I need you to go out and find those women that are going to be in your life, that are going to support you on the personal level and also ask you about business and reflect upon different things. All of the women that I am, including within my circle, there's only one that kind of understands and does something similar to what I do. The others are working in offices or working for a bank and they don't understand quite what I do, but they will still ask questions and understand my expertise as I understand theirs, and will go to them for certain problem solving questions that I may have.
Speaker 1:Many of my friends will come to me for the straightforward, no bullshit answer to something, because they know that's just who I am and how I approach things. So it's not necessarily that that's a business aspect of what they're looking for, but they often look for someone that's going to be clear, concise and problem solved in the way that I have learned to do through online marketing, and they then will use it within their business, whether it's negotiating their salary, whether it is having certain stipulations put in place at work that they're afraid to say because they are a people pleaser, or whether it is understanding email marketing or social media aspects of how they can infiltrate it into their own business, of what they do for a company. So find those people, surround yourself with those people and if you don't have them yet, find ways to look for them. And I'm telling you, if you are looking for people that are going to understand your business, join one of my masterminds.
