Influencer Entrepreneurs: Marketing Tips to Make You More Visible
Overthinking Kills Progress
Are you caught in the overthinking trap? That overwhelming feeling when you're pulled in multiple directions by shiny objects and an endless to-do list, but nothing seems to move your business forward? This episode cuts through the noise to deliver a powerful framework that transforms business paralysis into purposeful action.
At the heart of business growth lies a surprisingly simple truth: your activities must align with clear, measurable goals. We explore how establishing three concrete 90-day objectives creates a powerful filter for every business decision you make. Instead of chasing trends on Instagram, Facebook, or podcasting without purpose, you'll learn to evaluate each task against its ability to generate revenue quickly.
The key to implementation lies in breaking down your goals into specific projects and then into actionable tasks - creating a direct line between daily activities and revenue growth. We examine why many entrepreneurs freeze when facing new initiatives like creating videos or writing blog posts, and provide practical strategies to overcome this perfectionism. You'll discover that taking imperfect action is always better than perfect inaction, as each iteration improves your process and brings you closer to your goals.
Ready to stop overthinking and start moving your business forward? Implement this focused approach to ensure every hour you invest drives meaningful results rather than just checking boxes on a never-ending to-do list. Your business success depends not on doing more things, but on doing the right things with purpose and consistency.
Do you find yourself stuck, not sure what needs to come next, because you're probably overthinking everything, thinking all the different things, getting excited about this shiny object over here, then that shiny object over there, but what's actually going to move the needle? To make this simpler, when you start to feel yourself overthinking, I want you to stop and I want you to go to your goals. You should have 90 date goals written in what you're looking to move the needle on within your business. There should be three ideal 90 date goals and they want to be able to be measured. You want to make sure that you are actually having some sort of numbers, that you know whether or not the effort, the tasks, the projects that you are putting into everything is actually going to help move the needle forward on your business. So the first thing to do when you are in that place of overthinking I need to do this, this, this, this. You've got a laundry list of tasks and some of it is shiny object, probably thinking, oh, I need to be this, this, this, this. You've got a laundry list of tasks and some of it is shiny object, probably thinking, oh, I need to be over here on Instagram and I need to be over here on doing a podcast interview, or I need to be over here on Facebook.
Speaker 1:First things first, look at your 90 day goals. What were the three of them that you had? Then I want you to look at your tasks, go through circle, highlight whatever works best for you, the tasks that are actually aligned to your goals. Now, if you've done my 90-day plan program, you know that I have you. Take those three goals, break them into projects and then break those projects into tasks. This way, you're very specific on the tasks that need to get done and you know that they are already aligned to your 90 day goals, and this gives us the opportunity to not allow anything that does not belong in our space, in our mindset, in what we are doing, the tasks that we're adding to our laundry list that we need to do. You don't need to necessarily be posting on Facebook or Instagram or going and doing a podcast interview. You need to see what is aligned to the goals that you have set, to make sure that those tasks are the ones that you're completing, first and foremost. Now, if you haven't done the my 90 Day Plan program, you still can have the opportunity to do it. We're going to make sure that that's linked in the show notes.
Speaker 1:But what I want you to understand is that you need to write three goals that you're going to do over the next 90 days. From there, we would stop and break down projects and tasks. If you have not done this and don't understand what I'm talking about and want to grab a 90 day plan, great. If not, what I also want you to think about is looking at the tasks that you have. What is going to bring in revenue the quickest for you? That is how we are creating our 90 day plan. With our three goals, we're determining what three goals are going to bring in revenue the quickest, and that is what you need to focus on.
Speaker 1:So look at the tasks that you have.
Speaker 1:Are they going to actually result in growing your email list, selling your products and services, or they simply building awareness by having more people with eyes on you because you're using social media as part of your strategy?
Speaker 1:You need to really break down what is going to move the needle on your revenue goals so that you can make sure that you're putting time and effort into those tasks.
Speaker 1:So, looking at your task list that you have and, instead of overthinking those tasks.
Speaker 1:So, looking at your task list that you have and, instead of overthinking and getting worried about all the different things that you have to do, you need to streamline these tasks to make sure they're in line with your goals.
Speaker 1:You also need to make sure that, when you are looking to stop overthinking, that you take one step forward. Too often I watch people that get frozen, that won't take a step forward because they're afraid of it not having every single little thing ticked off that they feel like needs to be done For something as normal and every day or weekly for us as a blog post, to their first time filming a YouTube video. You have to get started so that you can figure out what works and what doesn't work and how you can speed up your processes so that it doesn't take as long as it does the first time. This is going to be key when you're thinking of what to not overthink, but how to actually look at your business so that you are streamlining everything, sticking to the processes that are going to work and focusing in on the revenue that needs to get brought in.
