The fall season brings renewed energy and focus, but without a strategic approach, you'll waste precious time on tactics that don't deliver results. I walk you through a practical framework for evaluating six months of content performance across all your platforms—from blog posts and podcasts to emails and social media. You'll discover how to identify patterns in what's resonating with your audience and which content pillars deserve your doubled-down efforts.
We tackle the uncomfortable but necessary task of eliminating low-impact activities from your workflow. Those Instagram posts that generate likes but no leads? That podcast that takes hours to produce but gets minimal downloads? It might be time to let them go. I share alternative approaches for reaching your target audience, including strategic collaborations that leverage existing communities aligned with your goals.
The heart of this episode focuses on aligning your content with clear, measurable 90-day goals. Whether you're aiming to grow your email list, drive product sales, build brand awareness, or nurture your existing audience, your content should directly support these objectives. I offer practical advice for using these goals as a filter for every content idea and even suggest how to use tools like ChatGPT to generate topics that naturally connect to your offers.
Take action today to audit your content, measure what matters, and create with intention. Your future self will thank you for the focused strategy that drives real results without the burnout.
Yesterday, we talked about making sure that we are setting, having systems and boundaries are being put in place so that we can really hit the ground running as we move into the fall in a busy season, and what I want to actually talk about today is how you can make sure that what you are actually doing is moving the needle. So we're going to talk a little bit about doing an audit and what that can potentially look like for the content that you are already creating. We want to make sure that we are creating our content with intention in simplifying our strategy. So the first thing that I want you to do is really take a look at what is working and what isn't potentially working. What blog posts, podcast posts, youtube videos have done well, what have you found people are really starting to engage with, have listened to? So I want you to look over the course of the last 60 days Actually, excuse me, I didn't want to say 60 days, I meant six months, whew, brain. So the past six months. I want you to see what content, what emails are getting opened, what is getting clicked on. So if you are not looking at, potentially, page views or downloads from your podcast or views on YouTube. I also want you to take a look at your emails and see what's getting clicked and what's getting opened.
Speaker 1:Okay, that's what's going to be important here, and what you are taking a look at is really determining if what you are doing is mattering. Is it actually moving the needle? So are you doing social media and it's not actually resulting in anything, or are you finding that it is? I want you to determine what is going to continue to move the needle for you. So I want you to really take a look at the content pillars that you want to double down on for the fall. So, if you are noticing in your emails certain things are getting opened, how can you continue to create content for that pillar? And also, with the intention of finding the audience on their customer journey, of where that's going to impact them most. What type of content, what type of questions do they have? What are you going to create for them? I also want you to make sure that you are eliminating low impact objects. Really, what is it that you are doing that isn't moving the needle at all? Is it Instagram? Is it TikTok? Is it potentially certain content that you're creating, or are you finding that you've had to pivot. So now you're growing a different audience. Is there a different way that you can look at it? Maybe finding the audience based on someone else's audience and potentially collaborating with them, being a guest on their podcast or doing a list swap with them, or getting involved, potentially maybe in a summit in that particular topic, so that you can attract that audience. I want you to look and see what is going to make the biggest difference and eliminate the things that are not serving you. Just get rid of them, stop doing them and make more time for the things that do matter.
Speaker 1:We talked also about making sure that you have revisited your 90-day goals. I want you to take a look at those goals again and make sure that your content follows the goal. I don't want you to end up creating a goal based on the content. It needs to be that the content follows the goal. So you're going to really look at that 90 days, picking two to three core goals for the next 90 days.
Speaker 1:So, whether it is growing your email list, driving product sales, building brand awareness or nurturing an existing audience, these are all potential topics that you could be taking a look at. Those would be your goals and then making sure that you have be taking a look at those would be your goals, and then making sure that you have metrics for those and being able to put a plan in place for what projects and tasks are going to continue to fall into that. Make sure that they are measurable, that you're looking at how many downloads you are getting, or how many clicks. What is your open rate. Make sure that you are using numbers in order to determine if what you are doing is how many clicks. What is your open rate? Make sure that you are using numbers in order to determine if what you are doing is moving the needle. This is the most important part that we often don't like to do, because when it comes to numbers, we think, eh, we don't need the numbers, right, we don't want to be the number person. We want to be the creative, we want to continue to put out content. You have to know whether or not those numbers are moving and making a difference, though.
Speaker 1:The next piece of what I want to make sure that you do is to use your goals to filter every content idea If it doesn't support the goal. It's a not now. So if your goal is to continue to grow your email list and you are creating content that isn't in line with your opt-in, so it's going to be very difficult for you to grow your email list because the content has nothing to do with the opt-in, then that's a problem. So make sure that your content is aligned with it.
Speaker 1:Potentially, I would look at taking my opt-in PDF version, putting it into chat GPT and asking it what are some topic ideas that I could create content for that I'm going to be able to have a call to action to grab the opt-in. This is a great way to brainstorm different content ideas that you could be creating and utilizing chat to help you do so. So, as you are looking at this strategy where you can start to really make sure that your content is in line with your goals and also making sure that you are not overwhelming yourself for burnout, I want you to make sure that you are doing this, taking a look at how you can potentially see your auditing of your time how long does it take you to do certain things and then getting it into your schedule, as you are looking at your boundaries that you have put in place for yourself that we talked about the last episode. So if you haven't already done this. I want you to make sure that you do. I want you to put it into place and take that action.
