Exclusive access to premium content!Start the year with a single, powerful shift: choose one word that guides every decision you make. We explore how a word of the year becomes a practical filter for focus, a boundary you can lean on, and a mindset reset when plans go sideways. Instead of stacking fragile resolutions, we move from “What do I want to achieve?” to “Who do I need to be to support the life and business I want?”
We break down a simple three-filter test to pick a word that actually works: expansion, boundaries, and action. Expansion ensures the word stretches you just enough to spark growth. Boundaries confirm it helps you say no to misaligned work so you can say yes to what matters. Action turns your word into daily and weekly behaviors that compound: a 24-hour decision rule for “decisive,” a visible content cadence for “bold,” a two-minute pre-meeting pause for “calm,” or a weekly offer audit for “aligned.”
You’ll hear clear examples for leaders and entrepreneurs who want to be seen, simplify, and grow sustainably. We share low-friction routines that make your word stick, including if-then scripts, quick behavior triggers, and a lightweight tracking loop at the top of your daily plan. Expect some discomfort—that’s the edge where change lives—and use it as proof you chose well. By the end, you’ll have three candidate words, a way to test them, and a concrete plan to live the one that fits your next chapter.
If this helped you reframe 2026, follow the show, share this episode with a friend who needs a reset, and tell us your word in a quick DM or email. Your word is the story you choose to live—what will yours be?
We are in 2026 if you are listening to this. So happy new year. I am so excited to see what you're going to do in your business. Now, some of you may already have chosen a word of the year, but for those that have not, I want to help you kind of try to decide. Now, a word of the year creates focus when your goals can feel overwhelming. Instead of having resolutions that typically fail because there's too many goals, too many things that are not connected. We want to do a single word that becomes a filter for your decisions, a boundary setter, and a mindset reset. Now you want to make sure that your word isn't a decorative word, but it's a directive. It gives you a path to follow. And you want your word to inspire you every day, not only on the good days, but it's going to help guide you even on the hard ones. So when you are looking at your word of the year, I want you to identify a strategy so that your word can help support who you're becoming, not just what you're building. So what do I want to achieve? Should become who do I need to be to support the life and business I want. Your examples, maybe you want to be calm for the leader learning to slow down, or bold for the entrepreneur ready to be seen, or aligned for the business owner simplifying, consistent for that sustainable growth, or decisive for moving out of overthinking. I'm going to give you a three-filter task for choosing your word. The first is number one is your does it expansion. Does this word stretch you slightly? Does it create require an actual behavior shift? Number two that I want you to check on is boundaries. Will this word help you say no? Does it actually protect your time, energy, or values? And then the third thing that I want you to take a look at is action. Can you turn this word into daily or weekly behavior? Will it guide decisions in your business? So I want you to write down at least three words and apply all three filters to your three words: expansion, boundaries, and action, and choose a word that feels uncomfortable but aligned. Because as we know, when we start to feel uncomfortable, that is when the change really starts to happen. That is when we see growth in our business. So I want you to make sure that you take a look at those three different shifts, those filters that you can put them through and decide on your word. I would love to know what your word is going to be for the year. Send me an email, send me a DM, let me know what your word is going to be.
