Why Rigid Schedules Fail

Today, I want you to upgrade your execution rhythm. And I want it to be done with consistency without rigid schedules. So if you are part of insiders, you know that I'm really making an effort to make sure that you do not feel confined within your schedules, that you have flexible scheduling so that you can still get things done. What we often see is that entrepreneurs either hustle and sprints or procrastinate in overwhelm or perfectionism. They allow themselves to think that everything has to be perfect before they can move on. And that ends up leading them into procrastination and leaving them there for way too long in order to actually continue to move their business forward. So I want you to understand that rigid productivity systems often will make you flounder and technically really make you fail. So you have to determine what type of person you are, what kind of schedule do you have? What are some of the things, what are the some restraints that you have within your schedule? Do you have certain stop points and start points for your business? Are there certain things that are going to come into your week that you have to make sure that you take care of? Specific meetings that you have to attend, um, different times that you have to pick up your kids? Do you have to leave the option that your day could be interrupted for a sick child or a sick parent that you are having to take care of? These are all things that we have to anticipate and have there so that there is white space to work and buffers so that we don't get frustrated. So this is one of the things that's really important. A lot of you hear me talk and you've heard me talk about my schedule and the way in which I do things. And I never truly realized that I have naturally done this for myself. I've always left buffers in. I've always left white space so that when I find myself not feeling totally energized and in the moments of wanting to do certain things, I have the ability within my schedule to be able to move things around, to be able to focus on certain tasks and projects at different times than maybe when I initially scheduled it. So the flexible CEO rhythm is going to start with that quarterly vision, which is your 90-day plan that you have created, right? That is what we're looking for. You also then want to look at monthly milestones for yourself. So if you are saying that you want to do eight, I want to do a round number,$9,000 in revenue, not talking profit, but just revenue coming in over the course of 90 days. And we then need to look at, okay, then that we're looking, are we dividing it evenly? Or are we looking to increase? So maybe instead of 3,000 each month, we're looking to do two and then three and then four. So that as we are increasing and paying more attention and gaining momentum, we can look at that revenue. And it's important that you have those monthly milestones in there so that you're not going the entire quarter and then going and reviewing and doing the metrics. So once you know those monthly milestones, you can then look at weekly priority alignment for yourself. What are the tasks and projects that need to get done in order for these things to happen? If you know that you are trying to grow your podcast listeners, and part of the projects that you wrote down was to get onto other podcasts as a guest, then maybe one of the tasks that you need to be making sure that you are doing is pitching other podcasters to get onto their show and then following up with them and then potentially even offering to have them on your show. So then once these are scheduled, now it becomes making sure that you are prepared for those interviews. You are whether or not you're having them on your show or they're go, go, you're going on theirs. And not only are you preparing and making sure that you are ready for that, but then once it is done, you are going to be scheduling in opportunities to be able to promote them, emailing that podcast to your list or promoting it on your social channels. It's important that you build those projects in. And this is what we are looking to do with our weekly priority alignment. And then the last piece of this flexible CEO rhythm is your daily outcome focus. What is the main thing that you are trying to do for that day? So when it comes to my schedule, part of what I always do is I have unhinged episodes, which you are listening to. And I have that as a Monday priority because I want those episodes to be scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday of the coming week. So Monday, my priority is to get the unhinged episodes done. And then I will then also look at making sure that my emails are ready for the coming week as well as potentially up for the next week. It's important that you start to think about what are those daily outcome focus? What are you really trying to pay attention to so that if you have to move your day, you have the ability to do that because something came into it. So when you are looking at this, I really want you to start thinking about how we can measure outcome versus effort. And that's where the data is going to come in. It's going to help you step by step understand your vision and how you can hit those goals that you are planning for that quarter with the projects and tasks that are necessary.
