How To Choose Bundles, Summits And Conferences That Actually Convert
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
A bundle invite lands in your inbox. A summit host wants you to “get exposure.” A conference asks you to speak. They all sound like growth, but only one question decides whether it’s worth your time: is this the right audience, and are they actually buyers?
We walk through how we evaluate bundles, summits, and conference stages without getting distracted by vanity metrics. I explain why bundles can be a gray area, how broad bundles attract freebie hunters, and what makes a niche-specific bundle convert. We also get practical about the backend: if sign-ups come through my checkout cart at a zero-dollar checkout, I can tag, track, trigger an email sequence, and offer an upsell immediately. If it’s a CSV file dump, it can break your funnel and block fast conversions.
Then we shift into summits and speaking gigs. I share why I’m more likely to say yes when I can teach, offer a clean opt-in from my presentation, and leverage a VIP upgrade that proves someone is willing to spend. For conferences, we talk about the make-or-break detail: can you sell from stage or invite people directly into a program? If you can, speaking becomes a reliable lead generation strategy, not just “visibility.”

Listener Question And Quick Invite
SPEAKER_00I had a premium member from Unhinged that messaged me asking me about what is the right way to spend your time when it comes to giveaways, bundles, summits, speaking at conferences. And first, I want to make sure that all my Unhinged listeners know you have availability to ask me the question so that we can turn it into episodes. So if you have a specific question that you're kind of like, eh, it's a baby question. It's not something I really want to bring up for mastermind or for insiders, send it to me. Send me a message, email me, whatever is easiest. I want to get those questions answered. No question is too small. So let's talk a little bit about bundles, summits, and conferences when it comes to what is the right fit. And I think the most important part, in order to determine if any of those things are the correct fit for you, first you have to determine if it's the right audience. If it is not going to have the right audience, then it's a waste of time. Now, not only does it need to have the right audience as far as the people that you're looking for, age, pain points, things of that nature, but also are they going to be buyers? That is key. Now, there are ways, obviously, to show them, to teach them how to become buyers, but it really is going to depend upon whether or not it is geared towards the right audience that's going to be ready to buy. So the first piece that I want to step into is bundles. And bundles are always the one where I kind of feel like I walk a line from it's kind of like a gray area for me. It's not always a definite no, but it's not always a definite yes either. And this is primarily because it needs to be really niche specific. If it's a bundle that is all over the place as far as the content that's included in it, then it's not a right fit. Because that becomes just people trying to get a bunch of freebies. They are not buyers in my mindset. Now, if it's a bundle that's very specific as far as the audience, audience and the topic is very specific, then that to me is beneficial. Now, in order to make sure that it converts and works for you, you have to do specific things like making sure that you have an email sequence that's going to come to them after they get the free item, and then making sure that you can then get them to potentially purchase an item. Now, part of a bundle is also important to me when I'm determining if I'm going to get involved in it, is if I am going to have to manually add people through a CSB, or are they going to be able to go to my checkout cart, have the item already at a zero value, so it's discounted so that they get it for free, and then they are going to automatically put their email in and go into my system. If they are doing that, I'm going to be more likely to do a bundle, especially if it's the right niche and it is the right audience. So these are all things that I actually put into perspective. I ask questions of the people that are running the bundle. Are they going to be able to check out through my cart? Or are you going to have to send me a CSV file? I don't want a CSV file because that ends up just tearing apart any of the sales sequences that I have set up. It doesn't allow me to offer an upsell right away. It just doesn't, that's a freebie getter in my mind if they're sending you a CSV file. So really ask some of these questions. Make sure you know the audience. Make sure you know, is it niche specific, what items are going to be included in it, and how is it going to work as far as are they going to be able to use your cart or not? Now, bundles, again, I said are kind of a gray area. Summits, I have a tendency to lean more to a yes because I love to teach. I want to speak, I want to get in front of people. If I can get in front of people, people can determine whether they like me or not. I'm either for someone or not. And if you give me an opportunity to teach, they're going to determine if they like my teaching style. Now, same thing goes for me as far as how does it work for me to be able to get new list subscribers? Am I able to offer an opt-in? If am I able to offer an upgrade to like a VIP pass? Now, if I can speak and I have an opportunity to provide them with an opt-in that they can opt into from my presentation and I can do an upgrade, then I'm in for the summit as long as it's the right audience. Again, audience niche specific is always going to be key for me. So making sure that it's the right audience. Now, again, if you are looking at a lot of people will say to me, Well, I don't want to give away an item as the VIP upgrade. That is how you're going to actually grow your list from that summit, though. And then once you have them there, you can then offer them into a sales sequence. And you know that if they're purchasing the VIP upgrade, they're buyers. So they are the right people. They're not just looking to be free-begetters and just sit there. So that is a key piece. Now, the other piece is a conference. And again, always, always ask the question audience niche, is it the right fit? Now, as far as speaking at a conference, I again normally say yes. Because as long as the audience and the niche are right, because I want to be able to educate. Anytime I can teach, I am going to be better off. I will always ask if I am able to sell from stage, as far as one, making sure my opt-in and two, being able to invite them right into a program. If I can invite them into a program from the stage, I'm absolutely speaking at that conference. If I can get them into an opt-in, I'm most likely going to. I'm not going to bend over backwards trying to make it work and all the things and canceling other stuff, but I will still most likely want to speak there. So these are some of the questions that I want you to ask yourself when you're trying to determine bundle, summit, or speaking at a conference and if they are the right fit. And these are just some of the questions that I want you to make sure that you're asking so that you can get the most benefit from it.
